Silence

Our fingers were intertwined with each other's as Louis and I took the first few steps into the city. There was a magic sort of feeling that came with the constant sounds and the endless possibility. Everything happened at once and everyone was in charge of their own fate.

To be frank, it also frightened me. I lived my entire life in a sort of bubble. I was protected from outside sources and I never really did anything for myself. Basin City was a complete 180 from what I was used to. But, by the way Louis stared longingly at the bustling streets and the cacophony of noise, he had grown up in a place like the city. That simple idea made me upset. Louis and I had come from an orphanage, we had escaped together and bonded over a simple idea and a short span of times, but in reality we were completely different and maybe he would leave me because of that. It was an irrational fear, I'm aware, but I couldn't help but wonder whether or not I would be left alone.

Those thoughts were quickly pushed to the side when I felt myself jerked to the side. Louis pulled me through a doorway into a place I had never seen the likes of before. Airbrushed words swirled across blank canvasses, beautifully illegible. They were illuminated by the bare bulb which hung from the ceiling, flickering as if unsure if it could do its job any longer. The lighting threw mine and Louis' shadows across the walls, adding to the mysterious air of the room. They danced as we moved from corner to corner. A waltz as I ran to a beautiful hawk, a fox trot as I skipped to see a landscape more wonderful than words could describe. Every time I would turn around or take a step in another direction a new work of art would appear. I swear there was magic working on those walls, and I just couldn't get enough.

Too quickly I was pulled away again by a wordless Louis. His eyes, though, didn't hold the wonder and amazement that mine did. They were full of nostalgia and they shone with a light that was many years old, as if Louis knew this place. I wanted to ask him about it, about why we were here and who painted it and so many more things, but I knew better. There was silence in the way he held my hand and there was quiet in the way he stood; his shoulders were drawn and his neck held high. I couldn't break that silence, so I screamed in my mind at the paintings. Who were they? Why were they here? And the beauty of the art made my fingers itch to once more hold a brush and let myself go. I needed to escape the silence and just make a beautiful chaos on canvas. But I couldn't. So I stood and waited for Louis to speak.

So here's an update :). I'm in between my summer plans so I decided to make a short chapter and keep people happy.

Comment what you think will happen next and maybe you'll be correct :)
