nice food
but the kitchen a mess
she soothed her hunger with the meal
wiping clean
all the dirty plates n' spoons
she set off to her room, the girl of steel

dusk came
and the sun said bye
her numb fingers continued to write
grumpy look
adjusting her spectacles
her task almost complete by twilight

night came
darkness filled the sky
her hands covering her face with a book
job was done
after a tiresome day
her expression held a satisfied look

moon came
snores filled the room
the book still clutched in her fists
wide smile
dreams of delight
her own book finished, aching wrists
