Roman rested his chin on his palm, eyes focused on the dark outside world cut off by the window beside him. Time ticked by slowly as he waited and waited, every few minutes checking the time on his watch. He couldn't believe it, his date was an hour late! Roman thought it was going so well...
The waitress came over again, but Roman dismissed her politely, deciding to wait a little longer...he needed this. He didn't want to be alone anymore, at this point he was desperate, and if it meant waiting a few hours, he would.
Slowly sipping the cold water, he began to notice the sympathetic glances from others around him, making him feel worse. Crossing his arms, he leaned back on the plush red chair, gazing at the mahogany table he sat before, wondering if it would make his situation worse if he decided to eat alone. Take out was also an option...pizza at home, drowning in tears as he watched Disney characters fall in love. He wanted that. He needed that.
While he quietly sipped his water, across the street from the oh-so fancy restaurant was a man sitting under the shelter of the bus stop, book in hand, but eyes trained on something else.
He wasn't there for too long, but quickly he realised the man sitting alone in that restaurant was stood up by whoever they were meant to be with. As anyone would, Logan felt bad for him, but something was also tugging at him to walk in and see if he was alright, even if it meant missing the only bus to take him home. He lived quite far away, and the walk home wasn't entirely safe.
Yet, the longer he stared - creepily, he would admit - he felt himself drawn to the man, and before he knew it his legs were moving on their own and he crossed the street, quickly entering the warm restaurant.
"Do you have a reservation, sir?" A man caught his attention, another ready to take his blazer, which he pulled tighter to his body as a hint that he wanted to keep it. Opening his mouth, Logan hesitated, eyes focused on the man sitting alone at the other end of the restaurant, looking like he was ready to leave.
"I'm with him" Logan responded, gesturing to the man in the white and red suit.
Following his hand, the man behind the wooden stand nodded, smiling gently. "I suppose you're not his date?" Logan shrugged loosely, dark eyes averting to the man who read Logan like a book. "If I say no, will you still let me in?" Chuckling, the man let it slide, Logan nodding graciously as he slipped inside, moving with a certain pace as he passed the tables full of strangers.
Roman was on his phone at this point, trying to call someone but Logan could tell whoever it was wasn't answering.
"Excuse me..." Logan drifted, catching his attention. He noticed Roman looking him up and down, the man slowly sitting up in his seat as he did. Smiling a little, Logan clapped his hands together behind his back, tilting his head ever so slightly. He wanted this to go well, but admittedly he's never been in a situation like this - or even close to this - and not being one for emotional-type things, he found himself to be pretty useless at this point, but he would try.
"I've noticed that...you have seemed to be alone for quite some time, are you alright?" Logan spoke, jerking his eyebrow up a bit as he did. Roman smiled back politely, gesturing for the man to sit opposite, which Logan respectfully did.
"I guess so. Maybe it wasn't meant to be" he chucked brokenly, letting Logan catch a glimpse of the man on his phone before quickly pocketing the device, finishing the water that soothed down his throat which felt a little clogged up.
"Ah, I see" Logan replied, resting his arms on the table. "If you want I could..." Logan paused a little, watching Roman gaze at him with uncertainty in his already sad eyes. "Be your "date" to cause less embarrassment" Roman felt himself chuckle, the way the man spoke and acted being amusing to him.
"Why not? I'm Roman, you are?"
"Logan, it is nice to meet you" reaching over to shake his hand, Roman took it gently and kissed the back, smirking as Logan spluttered a little at his flirtatious act. "What? You're my date, right?" Logan opened and closed his mouth, reaching over towards the menu as he tried to think of a response, the back of his hand tingling for..some reason.
"W-well, I suppose. I did not think you would want to do anything...romantic" Logan commented, quirking his eyes up to Roman who already plucked up a menu, scanning over the different foods.
"If you're comfortable, I'll happily play along" Roman shot back, hiding a smirk behind the rim of the menu, playful eyes gazing into Logan's. Said man felt a smirk of his own appear, the two instantly wondering how flustered they could make the other.
Finalising his order in his mind, Logan delicately placed down the menu, Roman doing the same afterwards. "Well, Romeo, I do not see the harm" noticing Roman's slight reaction to the nickname, he felt a little pride flare up in him. Huh, he's never wanted to act like this towards someone before, it was odd, but exhilarating at once.
"Nicknames already? You're quick, Gumdrop"
Before Logan could reply, the waitress arrived once more, the two quickly giving her their orders. "So, who was he?" Logan continued conversation, pouring himself a glass of water from the jug, letting a few ice cube fall in with it. Roman chuckled a little, watching the water pour as something to focus on.
"No one...someone I met at a bar and mistakenly agreed to go on a date with" leaning back, he sighed out sadly, a frown taking over his lips, Logan feeling himself frown, too, not liking the fact he made Roman sad again.
"So desperate for...anything, I turn into a lovestruck idiot with anyone who's remotely nice to me. Pathetic, am I not?" His quiet laughter was strained, no real humour behind it, just his own self pity. Leaning forward, Logan rested his hand atop of Roman's, keeping his gaze once the tie-wearing man caught it.
"You're not pathetic, I...have a friend who was the same, willing to do anything for love, I understand your situation, but trust me, it will hurt less to not jump in right away. It worked for my friend, who is now in a happy relationship because he waited, and took his time. It will work, believe me" Roman smiled once he finished, leaning forward too. None of them realising their hands intertwined with the other, holding it tightly.
"Thank you, Logan. I'll be sure to take your advice and..." he glanced down at their hands, smiling brightly.
"Take it slow"
Five months later
"Thank you. I enjoyed tonight" Logan spoke to Roman who walked him to his door, both men holding each other's hands tightly. Standing before the door, Roman leaned on it, staring at Logan opposite. "I'm glad, but I can't bare to part from you so soon"
"I understand, let's not think about that, do you know what day it is today?"
Roman cocked his head, racking his brain. "The fifth of December?"
"Five months ago, I saved you from eating for one at that restaurant"
Roman smiled wider upon remembering, gazing into his eyes that were lit up by the stars. "How could I forget? Everyday after I've been the happiest man on Earth" blushing lightly, Logan shook his head, unlocking his front door after removing his hand from Roman's warm one, instantly wanting it back.
Turning around to face the dark street, Roman hummed. "Remember what you told me?"
Logan hummed for him to carry on, straightening the tie that hung from his neck. "Take it slow?"
"Ah, yes, why-?"
Roman moved in a flash, Logan suddenly pressed up to the door, gazing at Roman while breathing heavily in shock, gulping down his nerves that began to rise in his stomach.
"I realised..." he began, softly grabbing his wrists to hold them above his head, watching the affect he had on the smart man with pleasure. "Taking it slow is boring" leaning in, Roman brushed his lips across Logan's parted ones, watching his eyes flutter for a moment. "May I kiss you?" He whispered, voice gentle, eyes softening.
Logan couldn't speak, his stomach twisting and flipping with the butterflies that seemed to grow to life more and more after every passing second he was in Roman's grip, lips so close his breath danced across his crimson cheeks.
Obviously, he didn't notice himself nod, as before he knew it Roman leaned in, capturing his lips in a deep kiss, both men melting into it as their bodies pressed flush against each other, Roman's grip tightening on his wrists as their lips moved in ecstasy, desperate for more. Parting, Roman wrapped one arm around his waist, the other opening the door behind.
Logan stumbled back, but Roman swooped him up and stepped inside, slamming the door and pressing him against it again, pinning his body to the wood as he let his lips move on their own, marking his neck with deep red hickeys, Logan nearly collapsing as his legs buckled, moaning breathlessly into the silent house, gasping and whimpering as Roman bit a certain area, eyes rolling back as he attacked that spot, sucking the skin harshly as he relished in the noises that echoed down the hallway.
"Ro-Roman!" Logan yelped after the fanciful man bucked his hips forward, both men moaning loudly at the friction it created. Gasping and panting for air, Logan felt his body being lifted from the ground, eyes closing as Roman's lips landed on his own.
The man holding him up knew what he was doing, as he didn't even stumble while rushing up the staircase, hand traveling across Logan's body as he burst into his bedroom, dropping him on the bed to continue the attack on his abused neck. Body quivering, Logan's arms coiled around him, gasping as Roman desperately tugged off his shirt, lips latching onto his chest as Logan arched his back into him, almost screaming in pleasure as their hips rocked together.
Leaning up, Roman caught his breath, staring at the masterpiece of which was his boyfriend, laying on the bed under him, writhing a little as his eyes clouded with lust.
"I wanted to do this months ago" Roman whispered, leaning down to graze his lips across his, nipping the jaw line.
"W-why didn't you?" Logan gasped, hands clinging to the shirt still covering Roman's body.
"You wanted to take it slow"
"Not five months slow!"
Roman smirked, leaning up. "Next time, be more specific. Or, make the first move"
"You knew from the beginning I was a bottom with no experience, what "first move" would I have done?"
Roman laughed heartily, straddling his waist to tug his shirt over his head.
"Don't be afraid to ask, Gumdrop" Roman reached to stroke his cheek, Logan subconsciously leaning into his warm palm.
"F-fine..." he murmured, his eyes closing as Roman leaned back down to continue what he started.
"Hey, Logan?" Roman spoke up, slowly tugging down his trousers after Logan said it was alright.
"Y-Yeah?"
"I love you"
Freezing a little, Logan relaxed, breathing out happily while staring at the ceiling, his heart exploding but melting at the same time. "I...I love you too"
