I remember the day.
I remember the day my father laughed in my face, saying I wasn't worth anything, that I was merely a mistake he wished he'd never made.
I remember how on the day of my birthday, he'd free the brown leather belt from his jeans, and order me to stand frozen, shirtless and with my back facing him, screaming at me while doing it, blaming me for my mother's death.
I remember that night when I was locked in the bathroom, with no food and no water. That night I begged for a piece of bread but my dad just snorted on the opposite end of the door.

I wish I can no longer remember...
