It was only an hour since the group had to abandon their apartment complex hideout, but it seemed like forever, because everything seemed to look the same, broken vehicles, a few dead freaks, and random trash out on the ground.

Everyone kept their guard up just in case, everyone also basically had a buddy for them to be with, some even tripled up, while they all remained in one big cluster because of the old saying, safety in numbers. The group remained mostly silent, there would be the occasional joke, groan, or question. The only ones who seemed to be talking the most were Levi and Kyle.

"How about we stop for a few moments?" Evan finally spoke up, as the male wanted a break to breathe and drink.

The rest of the group had no objections to it, so they all stopped while keeping their guard up. Everyone took a few minutes to sit and drink, or do whatever they wanted, just as long as they didn't wander too far from the group.

Kyle sat near Levi and they began talking a bit more, about whatever. Sometimes a giggle could be heard coming from either of them. Levi's sister Sami was begin rested against a downed tree, with Bryce near by, as he wanted to give Kyle a break from carrying her.

"Do you even know which direction we're going?"

That was overhead by everyone in the group, which caused them all to turn towards the direction it came.

Evan nodded, "Yeah... East, I believe."

"East? Are you sure you don't mean Weast?" Kyle spoke up as a joke. (At least one reader better get this reference)

Luke overheard and looked towards his little brother, "Now's not the time for jokes Kyle... This is serious..." He scolded his little brother.

"Ok... Sorry..." Kyle spoke while seeming very disappointed, which caused Bryce to give a glare to Luke, even if he didn't see it.

Luke turned back towards Evan and tried to help with the map, Ryan also stood nearby and tried to help.

Once everything was settled they all got back up and began to walk. Evan took the lead to help everyone follow him.

***

It was a few hours later, after numerous pit stops and more walking, the group still hadn't made it to their desired destination.

"Should we maybe stop for the night?" Kyle had spoke, showing some concern in his voice.

"Why would we stop for the night?" Marcel asked, being a bit confused.

"Well, you think about it. There are more of those things out at night, and we'd have limited visibility. Also, people could have set traps up and we wouldn't be able to see it because it'd be too dark out," the younger male spoke, hoping he had made a convincing argument.

Everyone seemed in agree with the idea, but there was only one problem.

"Where would we stay for the night?" Marcel asked.

"Maybe there's an abandoned neighborhood near by," Bryce chimed in.

"It couldn't hurt to look Marcel," Anthony spoke up.

Without any arguments the group went to go find a possible place for the night.

***

Within a half hour or so, the group found exactly what they wanted for the night. It was a neighborhood that was completely abandoned. They figured out how they would do it, they would use two of the houses and set up a temporary noise trap with some empty cans and wire. They would share rooms like they did at the complex, however it'd be more crowded and they'd only be there for less than a day.

They had set up everything for the night, and mostly everyone had their rooms figured out, only one person didn't. Kyle. He wasn't sure if he should sleep in his brother's room with Ryan and a few others, or if he should sleep in Levi's room with Bryce, Sami and a few others. There would be positives and negatives to both. If he slept in Luke's room, he could sleep with his big brother in case he got nightmares like when he was younger. If he slept in Levi's room he would be protected by Bryce, Levi and the others. Who knows what he'd do, maybe he would just stay up all night and keep watch.

***

It was bed time, Kyle had finally made his mind up, he slept in Luke's room, which he wasn't so sure if it was the best idea because of how disappointed Bryce and Levi both seemed when he chose Luke.

***

Everyone seemed to be asleep for a long time, Luke had shared the bed with Ryan, making Kyle sleep on the floor. The only person that couldn't sleep was Kyle, especially after he had a nightmare.

He was a horrible mess. Tears flowing everywhere, he was just a blubbering mess. He tried to wake Luke up, but the only response he got from Luke was, "go to sleep Kyle," and it wasn't even in a soothing tone, it was a harsh, rugged tone.

Kyle picked up his pillow and little blanket, still a blubbering mess, he left the room and across the hall to the room that Bryce and Levi were in. He knocked quietly, to his surprise the door opened and Bryce was standing there.

"C... Can I sl... sleep in here?" The younger boy asked, still a complete mess.

Bryce didn't respond with words, he just pulled him into a tight hug and shut the door.

***

The next morning came and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. Well, mostly everyone. Either way, the group began to pack up after eating, getting ready for the long day of traveling ahead of them.

Everyone made sure they had everything, such as the bags with guns, food, water, other supplies.

Kyle had his bag on and walked out of the room with Bryce, Levi, and Sami, being carried still, they were the last ones out of the house.

"We were getting worried, we almost left without you guys," Ryan spoke with a smile, which was hidden by his bandanna around his mouth.

"I wish you would've..." Kyle had mumbled, which only Bryce heard.

"Let's get going everyone, we have a long day of traveling, and we aren't going to be so sure we'll be as lucky as we were last night in finding a place like this," Marcel spoke as he began to lead the pack.

Levi walked next to Kyle, they continued to talk some more, it seemed as if they were becoming closer and closer with every discussion they had.

"So, what did you use to do before this happened?" Kyle asked as he walked with her.

"I used to play soft ball and skate, how about you?" Levi had responded with a smile as she turned to Kyle to listen.

"Well, I would ride my four-wheeler, sometimes I'd play my guitar, and other times I would game," he smiled a bit, remembering some of those times and then also became a little sad inside as he remembered how Luke used to enjoy that stuff and would be intrigued with all of that as well. Kyle however kept that smile, even if it was forced towards the end.

***

After a few more hours of traveling, there was a barely audible, "Oh no..." and that came from the leader, Marcel.

"Did you just say 'Oh no'?" asked Tyler.

Marcel shook his head quickly, "No.. No.. I said, Oh Oh, like in a song..."

"I don't know any song that goes like that, or at least not with the way you said it," Lui spoke up, voice squeaking at some parts.

Marcel sighed, "Okay, fine... I did say oh no... I said it because we're gonna have a problem here."

"What's the problem?" Bryce asked as he still carried Sami.

Marcel sighed, "I believe we're going to be stuck, because look..." he pointed towards a barricade of broken cars that were piled up like a barricade to stop anything from coming.

"Do you think there's a way around?" Evan chimed in while looking around.

"I mean, it's possible, but who's to say that someone's not waiting on the other end?" Marcel responded.

"Well, we have fire power, we can take them if there is," Tyler added as he stood right beside Evan.

"What if it's a whole group?" Marcel retorted back.

"Who's to say they'll be dangerous?" Evan replied.

"Who's to say there will even be anyone there?" Tyler finally laid rest to the argument.

Marcel sighed and turned to everyone else, "Okay, we'll take a vote."

Within moments, the vote was taken and it was decided that they would go around it.

***

The group made their journey across the the path, and they were all fine, no one was even around. However it was becoming dark again and the group needed to find some place for shelter. If only they could find a big enough vehicle or something to fit everyone.

"Well, I guess we'll set up in another house or two tonight," Marcel spoke with authority in his voice.

Once again, the group was lucky enough to find another set of houses they could spend the night in. This time when dividing up who would stay where, Kyle immediately knew who he'd spend the night with, and it was even better that he would be in another house.

Luke seemed disappointed again, and was completely unsure of why Kyle chose Bryce this time, as he didn't remember what had happened the night before with Kyle and his nightmare. He turned to Ryan who acted like he didn't hear Kyle say he was gonna stay in the other house, even though Ryan knew why because he heard what happened the night before, since he was in the same room and actually wasn't asleep like everyone else was.

***

Everyone was settled in their houses, Evan, Tyler, Lukas, and Jon were the watch keepers for the night, just checking to make sure they wouldn't get attacked by a hoard of walkers or attacked by a group of people.

***

Kyle laid in the bed, staring up at the ceiling, he couldn't sleep right now as he wasn't tired, and neither could Levi. Kyle sat up and looked around the room, giving a small smile at Levi.

"Couldn't sleep either?" She asked him and he shook his head.

She giggled slightly at him and sort of motioned to the window. Kyle was obviously because he tilted his head and was unsure of what she was trying to show.

"Follow me..." Levi whispered, trying to be quiet as she opened the window and scrambled out on the roof. Kyle followed behind her and smiled.

"This is what I used to do if I couldn't sleep back home," Levi spoke while looking up at the sky.

Kyle nodded and smiled a bit. Both of them laid against the roof, looking up at the sky.

"Hey, Lev, can I ask you something?" Kyle asked while turning his head to her.

She nodded, "sure Kyle, what's up?"

"Do you think there will ever be a time where we can get back to how it used to be?" He asked as he looked at her for a response.

Levi thought long and hard before responding, "I really hope so."

Kyle nodded and hummed in agreement. A few moments passed and Kyle looked over, getting ready to speak again, but he didn't because Levi had passed out and he didn't want to disturb her.

"Good night Levi..." Kyle spoke and just rested and watched the night sky, he could see Evan and Tyler over on the balcony of the other house. They both smiled as they saw him and gave a slight wave. He waved back and leaned against the roof shingles until he too ended up passing out, which might have not been the smartest or safest thing in the world now, however what exactly was safe nowadays?

....

A/N: So there's the end of that chapter. Kyle and Levi began to become closer through their journey here. Also, the return of the dick brother, aka Luke has happened. Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed this chapter and we'll see you in the next chapter. Bye for now :D :D
