Game Changer Pt. 1 (SoulXMaka)

His name was Soul Eater.

Later everyone would find out his last name was Evans, but before her, everyone just knew him as Soul Eater. And rightfully so, that's all anyone would ever call him.

He'd gotten the renowned, lucid, nickname, shortly after enrolling to the DWMA his freshman year. The saying, 'eat your heart out,' Soul was the living embodiment of this phrase. He'd gotten the nickname after leaving many, many, many strings of broken hearts and various other things. This nickname would be a part of him, until the middle of his senior year, when she showed up and changed everything anyone had ever known about him.

Soul was your typical high school bad boy. Owned a motorcycle, had the dark, smug, crude, vulgar, mysterious personality, always in trouble, not the romantic type, and certainly not the loyal type either, but even then he possessed this certain quality all the DWMA's female students would fawn over and hope to be able to call their's.

Well, most of them. As there is for everything, there was an exception. Well, she too would end up falling for him, but you can't turn away from your true love and love is blind. She changed his entire world, after she met him. He was never really the same again. And the girl to cause Soul's entire world to change was Maka Albarn.

She was his polar opposite. Maka was nice, sweet, independent, and had a low tolerance for men, or in this case, high school boys. She wasn't drop dead gorgeous, she was average at best, but for whatever reason, Soul took a liking to her. Because of her, Soul would learn some valuable lessons in his life and change for better or worse.

However, the story starts out, Maka had moved back to Death City with her father, after her mother had been restationed back in the US and was deployed yet again. Previously she had been in Japan with her mother, but four years before that, she had been in Death City, making her no stranger to the people who had lived there all their life.

"MAKA," a familiar male voice said excitedly as the tall, blue, spiky haired boy squeezed Maka and twirled her around with a hug the morning she arrived at school.

Maka laughed, "you're finally taller than me Short Stuff," she noted smiling at Black*Star's new height. She repositioned her bag and smiled at him, seeing a rather tall and pretty girl standing timidly a ways behind him.

Black*Star nodded, "can't call me that anymore. I'm taller than you," he said laughing cheerfully. He turned to the side ushering the timid girl to come forward with a grin, "this is Tsubaki, my girlfriend."

Maka smiled extending her hand out, "I'm Maka, nice to meet you, Tsubaki."

Tsubaki did the same, "nice to meet you, Maka. You're so pretty, I'm jealous."

Maka laughed, "you're sweet." She looked at Black*Star smiling teasingly, "he isn't holding you for ransom or forcing you to be his girlfriend, is he?"

Tsubaki laughed, giving a dismissive wave, "no, no, of course not."

Black*Star made a face and hugged Tsubaki around the waist from behind, "nope, she fell for me."

Maka nodded in approval, "you two seem to complete each other, glad you guys are together." Maka laughed, "I won't have to worry about you as much, knowing you're with Tsubaki."

Tsubaki smiled, "so do you have a boyfriend back in Japan?"

Maka laughed instantly, "yeah no, I don't have the patience to deal with boys." Maka gave a dismissive wave, "I'm done, until college. Boys are so ugh."

Tusbaki nodded in understanding, "I know what you mean."

Black*Star made a hurt expression, "hey..."

"Not you, honey," Tsubaki said kissing his cheek, "you're different."

Maka smiled, "one of you, or both of you, want to show me around? I kinda remember where everything is but not really."

"Can we see your schedule," they both asked in unison. Maka pulled out the tiny perfectly folded schedule from her pocket and handed it to them.

"AP Calculus, A & P, English IV, US Government, Lunch, then French III, ACT & SAT Prep, Art, Photography/Technical Design," Black*Star said aloud reading down the list of classes Maka had been placed in.

"Um, I have all these classes except for French III and Photography," Tsubaki said smiling, "I'll show you around to those two classes and then me and you can just go to the others together."

"Sounds awesome," Maka said as the first bell rang, as if on que. People start swarming the hallways trying to get to their class.

"Bye babe," Black*Star said before pecking Tsubaki lips and walking off to his first period class.

Tsubaki handed back Maka's schedule before walking in the opposite direction to Professor Free's for Calculus. Maka followed observing all the new things that were in the DWMA. She received many glances from people and waves from past friends as she got to her class. After having the proper introduction, Maka took her seat and began her first day back at the DWMA.

************************************************************************

Everything went smoothly in the first four periods, until Maka had to say goodbye to Tsubaki and go to French III alone. Tsubaki showed her to Miss Marie's classroom for French and then left to Miss Azusa's for Japanese. Maka didn't mind it, until she got to meet the people in her class.

Miss Marie introduced her to the class, "some of you may, or may not know, but this is Miss Maka Albarn. She's Principal Albarn's daughter and she used to come to school here." Marie smiled, "glad you're back sweetie, please go take a seat behind Kid."

Maka nodded and did what she was told. Miss Marie went to the front of the classroom and began her lesson. Kid turned around instantly looking for a conversation with his childhood friend, "you're back for good?"

Maka shrugged, "maybe, depends," she answered in an annoyed, unfriendly, tone. Maka was still annoyed with Kid, in the fact he had used her to get back at his girlfriend, Liz, four years ago.

Kid sighed, "Maka how many times do I have to tell you, 'I'm sorry'?" Kid really did feel remorse for what he did, but he was also glad he had lost his first time to Maka.

Maka arched an eyebrow. "None, you just don't talk to me anymore," Maka answered bluntly and bitterly. Although no one said anything about it, Maka felt humiliated and used after Kid slept with her. She felt even more ashamed, when he ended up back with Liz, two days later.

Kid laughed turning back to the front, "still as flat-chested, bitter, and mean as ever."

Maka scoffed looking at Miss Marie. "You're still as annoying, stupid, and a bigger jerk than ever," Maka said simply leaning against her arm that she had propped up on her desk.

Kid chuckled slightly, "Hn, all that aside, I want to tell you something."

Maka eyes narrowed a bit, "what would that be?"

Kid turned his head to look back at her seriously, "there's a boy here, goes by the name Soul Eater. He's bad news. Don't trust anything he says, he's a liar and he'll probably end up hitting on you. Just an FYI, he will use you."

Maka rolled her eyes, "sounds like you." Maka felt irritated having to listen to a warning about another guy, she hadn't even met and especially since it was coming from Kid. She just wanted to slap him and make him be quiet.

Kid turned more in his seat, "no, Maka, seriously. The difference between me and him is, I did that to you, but I'm also still with Liz because of it and we're getting married after we graduate. Soul, he has a habit of getting what he wants from a girl and tossing her aside like she's nothing. From what I've heard and from what I know, he sleeps with a girl and dumps her. I'm his friend, but you're my friend before he is." Kid looked at Maka seriously, "just thought I'd give you warning, so you don't end up like the others."

Maka rolled her eyes, "so now I'm like every other girl you know?" Maka couldn't help but get offended at anything Kid told her. He had used her, took her virginity, told her he loved her and then ended up back with Liz.

Kid chuckled slightly, "don't say I didn't warn you." Kid had his doubts about Maka even getting along with Soul, but he also knew if Soul set his sights on her, he wouldn't stop messing with her and use whatever tactics were necessary to win her over.

Maka sighed, "yeah, I won't." Maka was only half listening, she wanted nothing more than to drone Kid out. Kid turned back to the front of the classroom and class went on smoothly from that point on. The bell rang about forty-five minutes later and everyone got up to leave.

"What class do you have next," Kid questioned boredly waiting for Maka to pack up her things.

"Tsubaki is going to show me, thanks anyway," Maka said bluntly standing up after she shoved the last of her things in her bag.

"Hm, yeah, Tsubaki is all the way on the other side of the building. It'd be much simpler for me to show you to your class," Kid said holding out his hand, "schedule, please."

Maka rolled her eyes and pulled the schedule out of her pocket, "only because you said please." As much as Maka liked to pretend she hated Kid, when it came down to it, she didn't. She just couldn't stand the fact, he had used her and things went perfectly for him. After the incident, Maka's family divorced shortly after because of their own issues and Maka had to leave all her friends behind and was completely alone. She resented Kid but she certainly did not hate him.

Kid chuckled slightly taking the schedule and reading it. "You have Professor Justin next," Kid said handing it back to her, "and you only have this class with me."

Maka nodded, "that's good. Can you show me to class?"

Kid laughed at Maka's remark about having only one class with him. He hooked his arm around her elbow, "just so you don't get lost." With that being said, he dragged her down the halls to Professor Justin's room. Because they were each other's first time and were already childhood friends, the incident strangely enough bonded them together even more.

Tsubaki met them just as they arrived outside the classroom. She looked flustered, "I'm so sorry, I meant to go get you from your class, but-"

Kid cut her off with a laugh, "'no, it's fine, Tsubaki, I thought you'd need my help so I volunteered. Anything for you or an old friend."

Maka smiled, "yeah, it's okay." She narrowed her eyes at Kid, "although I wouldn't call us old friends."

Kid laughed, "ouch, well I gotta go." Kid turned the opposite direction and headed for his class.

Kid turned to see a familiar white haired boy instantly walk towards him as he began to walk down the hall. "Who's she," Soul questioned intrigued glancing back to the now closed classroom door. Never seen her before, he thought smugly.

"Nobody," Kid answered instantly and bluntly. Kid wanted nothing more than for no guy to ever hurt her again the way he had. He knew if Soul was to attempt to be with her, it'd basically be the same situation all over again, maybe even worse.

"Whatever, you know her," Soul replied back annoyed. Soul was semi-irritated that Kid refused to tell him who the new girl was.

Kid stopped walking as the hallways began to clear and the bell rang signifying the beginning of fifth period. "Exactly, I know her, you don't need to," Kid looked at Soul defensively, "she's off limits."

Soul laughed smugly, "you can't tell me what I can and can't do.

Kid clenched his fist and pushed Soul up against the wall, "sure I can't, but I won't let you do to her what you do to every other girl!"

Soul laughed again shoving Kid off him, "can I at least know her name?"

Kid looked at Soul before turning and walking away, "her name is Maka. She tells me anything I don't want to hear, about you, I'm gonna kick your ass."

Soul smiled smugly before walking off to his class. Maka, he thought smugly, why is Kid so defensive over you? Doesn't he have a girlfriend? Yeah, that Liz chick. They're both helplessly devoted to each other. So why does Kid care about this Maka girl? Soul entered his class and took his seat interrupting the lecture his teacher was giving for a moment. She's not even pretty and flat-chested as hell, Soul thinks boredly half listening to the lecture, so why?

************************************************************************

With that question bothering Soul throughout the day, the school day went on. Finally after lunch and a few more classes, the final period of the day was next. Tsubaki showed Maka to her photography class and Soul made his way to his last period.

"This is Maka Albarn," Ms. Medusa said presenting her to the front of the class. "Please go take your seat, hun, although you will find out, you're never really going to be sitting or be in this room," Medusa said handing her a camera and gesturing for her to go sit at the computer in the far left corner.

Soul glanced over his shoulder looking back to Maka. Maka pulled out her camera and instantly started snapping pictures. "It's a shame this class doesn't have more students," Ms. Medusa said looking at her total of six students, "but at least we have a new addition to the photography family."

Maka smiled as she took pictures of random things around the room. I take it back, Soul thought turning back to the front, her face can be pretty.

"The assignment is, each of you must take a still life photo, edit it and it must be at least 10" by 12. It must capture the beauty of the moment," Ms. Medusa said making hand gestures, "so no taking photos of an object that is already still. Capturing a moving object and its fleeting beauty, its beauty of the moment, that will be your challenge."

"Can we have partners so we can leave campus and take pictures elsewhere and around town," a short pink haired girl questioned while raising her hand.

"Marvelous idea, Kim! Since Maka is here, we can have three teams and even make this a competition," Ms. Medusa said clapping her hands together, "pick your partners." Everyone shuffled around and picked a partner, except for Soul and Maka. Medusa turned her back to the class, "we'll all vote on the the best picture and it'll be put in the yearbook, hung up in this room, and outside on the memorium wall." Medusa smiled, "the winning team, will get to skip class and get to go the Death City Cafe, my treat! This is due next Monday, that gives you one week to finish."

Maka walked up to Soul, "looks like we're the only two left, want to be partners?" Maka was only interested in winning, she was a competitive person, she didn't care if she had a partner or not.

Soul arched his eyebrow, he'd never been approached so confidently by a girl before. "Sure," he said in a slightly hesitant tone.

Maka sat beside him, "I'm Maka, but you already know from earlier when class started." She extended out her hand, "you would be?"

"Soul," Soul said taking her small hand and shaking it. He was utterly amazed at her formality with him. He was used to girls clumsily speaking to him, shyly approaching him, or approaching him with the goal of only sleeping with him on mind. Maka was the first to speak to him as an equal and for nothing more than to have a conversation.

Maka nodded, "nice to meet you Soul." 'There's a boy here, goes by the name Soul Eater, he's bad news-,' what Kid had said earlier instantly played in Maka's mind. She pushed the thought out. "I don't know about you, but I like to win," Maka said standing up with a pleasant smile, "so want to get started now?"

Soul grabbed his camera and stood up, "sure...." He was utterly amazed by the new girl so far. The thought of making her his newest victim left his mind as quickly as it had entered; he saw her as Maka Albarn, not just another girl for him to sleep with and use for his own benefit.

Maka watched smiling as she headed out the door and he followed hesitantly behind. Some bad boy, Maka thought laughing inside, he reminds me of Crona. After searching around school, Maka decided there was nothing worthy enough to photograph, "there's nothing here. Can we try somewhere else?" Soul nodded as they walked out and around town looking for things to photograph along the side walks. Through the search, they found a few things but nothing extravagant. Maka would get to know more of Soul's vulgar, crude, attitude as the walked along the sidewalks.

"What do you think about her," Soul questioned walking a ways behind Maka and gesturing to the large breasted and rather pretty girl walking on the other side of the street.

"Uh," Maka said in almost disbelief, "I'm not into girls, I wouldn't know."

Soul laughed putting his arm behind his head, "could have fooled me, I just figured, since you're so flat-chested and all."

Maka rolled her eyes and yanked on her skirt pulling it lower, "maybe I am." Jerk, Maka thought looking down at her camera's screen.

Soul laughed walking beside her, "so you're into girls?"

Maka peered up at Soul's face annoyed, "definitely, I have girlfriend named Clay." She rolled her eyes looking around the streets for something to photograph.

"Oh, so you have girlfriend named Clay," Soul questioned raising an eyebrow, he didn't know whether to feel disappointed or surprised.

Maka shook her head rolling her eyes, "you're unbelievable." Maka just used the name of the boy in her Calculus class that had been nice enough to let her borrow his notes earlier. Besides Kid, Maka had never really been in a relationship.

"Do you have a boyfriend named Clay," Soul questioned curiously walking beside her as she started to walk faster.

Maka stopped abruptly, "does it matter," Maka questioned in an annoyed tone.

Soul shrugged, "not really, you're into girls anyway."

Maka nodded, "yup, the nice, sweet, and not you kind," Maka added bluntly.

"I'm not a girl, I hope they wouldn't be like me then," Soul said chuckling at Maka's responses.

Maka sighed frustrated, "for your information, my sexuality doesn't concern you."

Soul nodded and shrugged, "it's doesn't, but I am interested to know what it is."

Maka rolled her eyes, "drop it, when it comes to guys, I'm done."

"You are a lesbian," Soul said with a laugh as he teasingly smirked looking at Maka, "lez be honest."

Maka nodded, staring back at Soul unamused, "yup, so let's just get this assignment over with, because you're annoying." Maka walked ahead of him taking a picture of a bird flying over her head. Soul smiled thinking to himself, done with guys, huh? As the search progressed, the two did start to become more friendly.

Maka stopped along the sidewalk to photograph a bee that had stopped and rested on a white flower. Soul watched closely, "it doesn't count if it's already still Maka."

Maka snapped the picture and the bee buzzed away shortly after, "yeah, but it was still pretty to take a picture of."

Soul made a confused expression watching her walk past him. She's odd, he thought watching her walk in front of him. He stopped, if she turned around, that'd make a good picture with the sun behind her and all. Soul shook his head, "hey, we should start heading back, school ends in about 10 minutes."

Maka nodded snapping a picture of a flying bird before walking back to him, "okay." She followed behind him looking through all the pictures she had taken. He isn't half bad looking, Maka thought looking at picture she took of him waving to other girls across the street, but he's still a sleaze.

And thus, Maka's first school day ended. Soul looked forward to seeing Maka the next day and Maka had already branded him with a play-boy tag.

************************************************************************

School was the same as the day before, until Maka got to French III. "Did he talk to you yet," Kid questioned instantly after Maka sat down behind him.

"Oh, I'm fine, Kid. Thanks for asking," Maka answered sarcastically, rolling her eyes as she pulled out her materials for that class.

Kid rolled his eyes at her but then looked at her seriously, "if he tries anything tell me, I'll kick his ass."

Maka laughed, "by him, I'm guessing, you mean Soul, but he's not all that bad. He's actually my partner in my photography class." Maka tapped her chin with her pencil, "sure, he's a sleaze, but he seems pretty normal to me. He thinks I'm a lesbian anyway." Kid raised an eyebrow and Maka slightly laughed, "don't ask."

Kid nodded in approval, "I see, he's taken my warning to heart."

Maka rolled her eyes again, "laissez-moi tranquille."

Kid raised an eyebrow, turning more towards her and resting his arm on her desk, "you actually know French?"

Maka nodded, "and Japanese." Maka pushed Kid's arm off her desk and made a gesture with her finger for him to turn around. Kid laughed turning around and class went on. The rest of the day went on like normal, until Maka's last period.

"Maka," a familiar voice called from inside the classroom as Maka was talking to someone as she entered.

"Huh," Maka turned and bumped into a person standing in the doorway. She took a step back, "my bad, sorry." She rubbed her forehead slightly, "oh, it's you. What?"

Soul peered down at her and patted her head, "my bad, ready to go? Maybe we can find something today." Soul didn't really care about the assignment; he just wanted to spend more time with Maka and he knew she wanted to win the competition.

Maka nodded giving Soul her bag, "can you put that somewhere? I need to get my camera." Soul watched Maka curiously, as he set her bag in his chair and she dug her camera out of a cabinet. "Let's go, it's snowing so maybe we can get some good pictures," Maka said grinning as she pulled on her mittens.

Soul lead her around town to the park, "here good?" Maka nodded as she knelt down and started molding the snow. "What are you doing," Soul questioned curiously watching her.

"Making a snowman, you gonna just stand there or are you going to help me," Maka questioned patting the snow together. Soul shrugged and stood there for a moment before kneeling beside her and helping. This is so not what I'm used to doing, he thought annoyed, how is this even remotely amusing?

Maka smiled patting the snow to form smaller round spheres. "Come on, loosen up," Maka said throwing a snowball at him, "building a snowman is supposed to be fun!"

Soul sighed making a snowball and throwing it back at her, "you do not want to get in a snowball fight with me, Maka."

Maka turned to the side easily evading the the snowball, "oh, really, cause, you missed." Maka laughed teasingly, "I'd win if we got into an actual snowball fight anyway."

"Bet," Soul said raising an eyebrow with a smirk. Soul had that certain personality trait about him, that if anyone attempted to be better than him, he would outshine them.

"Bet," Maka answered tossing a snowball at Soul's face. Maka was bored and wanted to have some fun in the snow. Soul blew the cold snow off his mouth and wiped the rest off his face.

"You asked for it," Soul said making more snowballs.

Maka laughed holding seven snowballs, "I'm so worried." Soul looked at Maka immediately to be hit with another snowball square on his face. Maka laughed as he threw one at her and missed. They repeated that pattern until Maka ran out of snowballs. Soul kept throwing them at Maka, missing, and Maka throwing back, hitting her mark every time.

Soul, during that time, ended up genuinely laughing and smiling and Maka the same. Maka scooped up some snow, quickly formed a snow ball and chunked it at Soul again. It hit Soul square on the side of the head and he fell down to the soft snow below.

"Oh my," Maka said running to him and kneeling down beside him apologetically, "I'm so sorry!" No sooner had she said that Soul had her on her back, her wrists pinned above her head and had gently pushed her into the soft snow underneath him.

"I win," he said simply staring down at her confused face. Maka arched an eyebrow and opened her mouth to speak when Soul dropped a snowball on her face.

Maka thrashed her head to the side trying to get freezing snow off her face, "SOUL!" Soul smiled wiping the snow off her face and stared into her eyes a few seconds, hesitantly he started to lean down. "What are you looking at," Maka yelled squirming under his hold immediately, "let me go!"

Soul stood up and helped Maka up. She glared at him annoyed, "jerk." Soul shrugged shoving his hands in his pocket. Maka sighed pushing her bangs out of her face as she began to work on the half built snowman again.

Soul attempted to help her again, but she ignored him completely. He furrowed his eyebrows not knowing what to do or say, this had never happened to him. Maka angrily packed the snow together. I can't believe, I actually thought he was nice, she mentally screamed.

After a few more minutes of her angrily working on the snowman and Soul not having any idea how to respond, he finally got an idea. "I'm sorry, " he said almost genuinely, "I've never actually been in a snowball fight...." He looked down into the snow to see Maka's iPhone slightly covered.

"Really," Maka questioned in almost disbelief. She stopped what she was doing and looked towards him to tell whether he was lying or not.

Soul looked to the side timidly, "yeah, actually...." Maka laughed looking at his faintly blushing face. He's actually kinda cute, Maka thought as she went back to working on the snowman. Soul bent down and picked it up, as he pressed the lock button illuminating the screen. The picture she had on her lock screen was of a purple universe looking background with the saying 'love yourself, because no one else will.'

Soul laughed to himself as he slide the unlock button and it surprisingly opened. He opened her messages seeing she had a new one from Tsubaki, Kid and Black*Star. He typed in his number and sent himself a message. He went into her contact book and added himself with an slight grin.

Maka looked at him irritated seeing him holding her phone, "give it." She held out her had standing a few steps away from him.

Soul handed her back the phone smiling, "sorry, had to put my number in there. You know in case, you ever needed me for some reason or you just wanted to talk."

Maka rolled her eyes standing up and slipping her phone back into her pocket, "if I ever need to be pissed off or have someone royally annoyed, I'll call you."

Soul slightly chuckled and Maka took off her scarf handing it to him. "Put it on the snowman," she instructed trying to force back a grin, still attempting to seem like she was angry.

Maka snapped a picture and smiled, as she took a picture of Soul carefully placing the scarf around the snowman. Hm, I wonder if she would count this as beauty of the moment, Maka thought as she turned and looked up into the sky and snapped a picture of the falling snow. Soul looked to Maka and smiled slightly thinking, maybe this is fun.

Maka glanced at her watch, "hey, Soul, school ends in like 7 minutes, we should start heading back." Soul nodded and walked beside Maka all the way back to school.

Maka went home like normal, but before Soul could exit the building, he was stopped by a long white haired girl. "So, Soul, still up to be my friend with benefits," the girl questioned with a suggestive grin.

"No," Soul said simply turning away, "I met someone Eruka."

The girl stood there a little disappointed and annoyed, "since when has that mattered?"

Soul shrugged as he continued walking away without turning around as he looked down at his phone feeling it vibrate. He was slightly disappointed it wasn't Maka and seeing it wasn't her, he just slipped his phone back in his pocket and continued on his way. With that minor mishap, Soul went home and that ended day two.

************************************************************************

Day three was the same as the day before until Maka got to French class and was greeted by Kid's interrogation. "Do I need to kick his ass yet," Kid questioned.

Maka rolled her eyes, "no! I swear Kid, I like him better than I like you!" She sighed, "kick your own ass, because you're the only one that's bothering me."

Kid sighed and left Maka alone and the day continued like normal until Maka's favorite period, photography. "Got us coffee," Soul said handing her a cup.

"Thanks," Maka said taking it as she started editing some of the pictures on the computer. She sighed in frustration, "none of these are good enough!"

Soul sipped his coffee standing beside her peering down at the screen, "we could go take more pictures or something." He thought the pictures looked fine, but he knew better to argue.

"Yeah," Maka said saving her work, ''these are good but, we need something perfect." She handed Soul back the cup and Soul nodded taking it from her. Maka went and got her camera and Soul walked out the door holding the cup out for her to walk beside him and get it.

"Park or where," Soul questioned as the got closer into town square after they left the school grounds.

"Mm, I don't-," Maka said looking at him thinking. The cold still nipped at their faces and their was visible.

"Soul-Kun," a very loud girlish voice shrieked cutting Maka off. Both their heads snapped in that direction. A purple haired and rather large breasted girl walked towards them, "Why are you out here?"

Maka watched interested at the event taking place before her. "Uh, Blair," Soul said awkwardly looking at her. Of all the times, Soul thought extremely irritated, now?

"Who's this," Blair said instantly whipping her head in Maka's direction and pressing herself against Soul.

"Maka," Soul replied simply trying to take a step away from Blair, but as soon as he did, she'd take a step forward closing off the space.

"I'm Blair," the girl said snaking her arm around Soul, "I'm his baby mama."

Maka smiled, "that's cool." He's a sleaze, remember that, Maka said to herself mentally, anybody can pretend to be nice and sweet.

"Are you still with that Eruka girl, babe," Blair questioned looking at him and intentionally glancing at Maka, "or is this her and you're with some other girl too? You haven't changed."

Maka smiled, "you seem busy, Soul, I'm going to go." Maka turned and slowly walked away before she ended up running away. I don't even know him that well, Maka thought feeling conflicted, I mean sure we get along good, but I mean. Maka fisted her sleeves, why is this bothering me?! I don't even like him, she mentally screamed. She took a deep breath as she turned down an ally and leaned against a brick wall, I don't.

Soul shoved Blair off him, watching Maka walk away, "quit lying to everyone, that kid isn't mine! And you know it!" He took a few steps after Maka, " Maka!"

Maka had already fled and was out of sight. Blair clung to his arm, "babe, it's yours!" She peered up into his face, "it's going to look like you and then are you going deny it's yours? Are you going to have to take a futurity test to realize you are the father? Stop denying it, I'm only two months along."

Soul looked at Blair in disbelief, "......you're kidding....." With the mention of two months, he suddenly was filled with regret and remorse as he remembered what he did. After getting plastered awhile back at a college sorority party, he broke his only personal rule. Never sleep with girl without using protection. He figured it was alright, since he thought Blair was on birth control. Apparently not, he would come to find out.

Blair shook her head, smiling softly, "no, I'm not." Blair wrapped her arms around Soul happily, "we're going to be a family! You're going to be dad."

I promised myself, Maka thought staring down at the snow that covered the ground. I can't be around him anymore. Maka remembered how Soul just stared into her face a few seconds. He was hesitant, but he was leaning down to kiss me, Maka thought feeling a lump in her throat. WHY, she mentally screamed feeling tears streaming down her cheeks, I told him, I was done!

Soul looked to the ground sorrowfully with only one person on his mind. Maka, he thought bitterly, she probably hates me. What do I even say to her?

Maka stood looking at the ground as she pulled out her cell phone from her pocket. She looked down to her phone and called the only person she could think of. She calmed herself enough to stay quiet as she dialed the number.

"Hello," answered the person, "Maka, hey, I'm kinda in the middle of class, if this isn't important-" Hearing his voice Maka lost it and began sobbing again. "Where are you," the person demanded on the other end of the line. "Professor Stein, this is important, I'm leaving," the person announced hurriedly before the sound of clattering footsteps, and then a door opening and closing could be heard.
