**Chapter 51**
Delilah gulps as the nurse turns on the machine. She moves the little stick around her rapidly growing belly. Zach holds onto her hand and John watches the blank screen from the foot of Delilah's bed.
A small heartbeat sounds out of the machine and Delilah lets out the breathe she didn't know she was holding. The nuse smiles at her and Zach squeezes her hand. She moves the stick and the heartbeat gets louder. The beat seems to be multiplied as it beats quickly. The nurse moves the stick all over Delilah's belly. She pushes some buttons on the machine and the heartbeat gets louder and more out of sync.
"I think you have two hertbeats." The nurse says.
Delilah's eyes bulge from her head. "Is that bad?" She asks scared.
The nurse chuckles and Delilah wants to smack her. Why is she laughing about her babies double heartbeat?
"Not unless your broke and have no patience." The nurse says. "Are you ready to see your babies on the Ultrasound?"
Delilah shakes her head quickly. She looks at Zach who is pale and still squeezes Delilah's hand.
The nurse pushes more buttons and a black and white picture shows up on the screen.
"Wait!" Delilah shouts, startling everyone in the room. "Did you say babies? As in more than one?"
The nurse smiles and nods her head. Delilah feels faint. She doesn't know what to feel. Happy of course. She is having not one but two babies. But how is Delilah and Zach going to take care of two babies and go to school at the same time? Delilah doesn't want her kids in a daycare all the time or a nanny, she wants to raise them the way she wants them. She wants to be there every second of her childrens lives as they grow up. How will she take care of two babies?
Delilah's eyes bulge again and she squirms on the bed she lays on, the paper crinckling underneath her. She stares at the screen.
Two little black smudges on the screen. One of the smudges is closer to Delilah's lower stomache and the other seems to be right ontop of it. Delilah smiles at the picture.
The nurse zooms in so they can all see the babies better. Little hands and feet. The webbing is almost gone between their fingers and toes. Their heads are huge. They must have big brains to be smart, Delilah thinks.
"Twins. Two babies." Zach says with disbelief in his voice.
"Double the trouble." John chuckles.
Delilah just smiles at Zach who takes a bit to return the smile.
"But how?" Zach asks the nurse.
"Well there are two types of twins." The nurse says. "There are identical twins which are called monozygotic twins, and the fraternal or dizygotic twins."
Zach just stares at her.
"Identical twins are formed when one fertillised egg or Ovum splits and develops into two babies with exactly the same genetic information. To form Fraternal or Dizygotic twins, two eggs or Ova are fertilised by two sperm and produce two genetically unique children."

"Can we tell which of the two they are yet?" John asks from his spot at the foot of the bed.
"No, we can do a DNA test when they are born though. It's easy and painless since all they have to do is take a cheek sample with a cottonball and test them. If the DNA is exactly the same then they are Identical, but if only about half the DNA matches then they are Fraternal twins. You could even get blood samples if you still are uncertain."
Delilah can only smile. "I don't care which they are, as long as they are healthy."
The nurse moves the stick around her belly. "They look good right now. Just keep eating healthy and get lots of sleep." She looks at Zach and John. "Dad, grandpa, keep her happy, and her stress down. It's not 100% proven but we think that keeping the stress down helps with any pregnancy."
Zach and John nod and the nurse wipes the blue jelly off of Delilah. The machine makes a noise and two pictures come out of the machine.
The nuse hands the two pictures to Delilah and Delilah smiles at them. She hands one to John to keep and her and Zach smile at the other one.
"This is going on my desk at the Sunshine." John says and smiles at the black and white picture.

"Twins." Zach says to his mom over the phone as him and Delilah step into the front door of the house. "I know. That's how I was at first." He smiles. "Yeah, we're gonna have to double everything now."
Delilah makes her way to the kitchen and opens the freezer. She pulls out a Drumstick just as Zach walks in. Delilah opens her Drumstick and licks her lips. She is just about to take a bite of the chocolaty nuts when Zach gives her the cutest puppy dog eyes ever. Delilah sighs and gives him the Ice-Cream and gets another one out of the freezer.
Zach kisses the top of her head as she sits down on a bar stool at the Island. She quickly takes a bite and savors the nutty and chocolatey taste in her mouth.
"Okay. Love you too mom, I'll see in two days then." Zach says into his iPhone and then hangs up. He puts the phone in his pocket and sits down next to Delilah on a bar stool.
He looks at her as she licks her Ice-Cream.
"What?" Delilah asks between licks.
Zach shakes his head. "Nothing." He says and bites some nuts off of his Drumstick. "It's just, twins."
Delilah nods her head at him. "Yes, twins."
"How though. I mean I know how but like how did we conceive twins?"
Delilah shrugs her shoulders. "Do you not want twins, Zach?"
Zach quickly shakes his head. "No, I do, I'm just shocked that were having twins. Doesn't it phase you at all?"
"No, how am I suposed to act?" Delilah asks, keeping her calm.
"I don't know. Two babies. I thought one was going to be hard, but now were having two babies. Were going to have to double everything like clothes and toys, and food." Zach goes on and on as Delilah calmly eats her Ice-Cream. Zach's Drumstick melting in his hand as he goes on with his worries about twins.
Delilah finishes her Drumstick and gets a washcloth from under the sink. She wets it with water and wipes up the counter that Zach still hasn't noticed.
"More wash cloths. We will need more since they will make more messes. More laundry, more everything." Zach says as he realizes what Delilah is doing.
Delilah just nods her head as Zach still goes on. She takes the melting Ice-Cream from him that he wasted and throws it in the trash. She wipes the rest of the counter and pushes Zach to the sink to wash his sticky hands.
He washes his hands and stops talking. Delilah smiles at him.
"Are you done?" She asks, trying not to laugh.
Zach takes a deep breathe and nods his head. "Sorry." He says. Delilah shakes her head and kisses him.
Zach kisses her back and stares into her eyes. "I love you Delilah." He says and rests his forehead against hers. "More than one baby with you is just perfect and I couldn't ask for anything better."
Delilah smiles. "I love you too, Zachie." She smiles. Just because she knows he hates it she licks his cheek and scampers off leaving Zach confused with his mouth hanging wide open.
