"porlyusica. . ."

lucy was reading over the paper with very little information about the lady.

she was about half way to magnolia; taking her sweet time. as she was about to rethink going to this lady's house, that's when she heard something.

"has anyone seen igneel!?"

did she hear that correctly? igneel?

lucy immediately turned around and looked in every direction. who could've said it? she then remembered igneel said something about a boy named natsu. so she decided to yell out his name.

"natsu!"

she scanned the crowd. how would she know who natsu was? she had nothing to go on.

that's when she remembered.

"i'll meet you at fairytail, natsu!"

lucy smiled sadly. she turned her heel, and headed off in another direction. no matter how much she'd like to meet natsu, or even jude's mistress, she shouldn't. she was bad luck and she wouldn't want to risk hurting them.

so she decided she'd forget about going to the mistress' home. what good would that do her? meeting her would not bring her peace.

"fairytail.  . ." lucy mumbled. she then realized she was in an unfamiliar place now.

"um, hey, how do you get to magnolia?" she asked the closest stranger.

"you're in magnolia," the man said rather harshly.

"where is fair—" he walked away before lucy could finish her sentence.

she turned around and tried asking someone else. "hey, where is fairytail?"

it was an older woman with gray hair and plenty of wrinkles. "sorry, dear. i don't know."

lucy sighed and nodded. she walked a little further and tapped someone on the shoulders.

"hey—"

"what?!"

lucy furrowed her brows in anger. why was everyone so grouchy today? or was magnolia always like this? "excuse you! i was only wondering where the guild fairytail was!"

"it's over there." he didn't point anywhere but continued, "you take a left at the next corner and you'll find it then. sorry, kid."

lucy thanked him and walked off. she sighed heavily as she stuffed her hands in her already full pockets.

she moved at a normal pace. she was in no rush at all. fairytail —as igneel described— didn't seem so interesting. yes, he said it would be fun, but many places can be fun. what was so special about fairytail?

she turned the corner as the man said to do. nothing seemed to be so different. none of the buildings popped out. none said 'fairytail'.

she didn't want to ask any more strangers for help. she's not helpless or dumb. she eyed all of her surroundings. she went straight.

after nearly a minute, lucy spotted it.

the words 'fairytail' were above the guild doors in purple. the doors were orange and wide. and there was a banner at the top of the building, it was orange and on it was a white phoenix.

"wow," lucy thought a loud. she made her way toward the doors.

as she grabbed the door handle, she thought about her life. damaged, but not broken.

she pulled the door open and slowly walked inside. it wasn't crowded at all, but the liveliness inside of the guild would say otherwise.

the guild grew slightly silent as the door closed, revealing lucy.

she waved and gave them all a small smile. "hello," she said and walked a little further inside.

a kid who seemed not much older —he's about 14, 15– then lucy, walked toward her. "yo," he spoke. he had blonde, frisky hair and a jagged, lightning shaped scar on his right eye.

"you wanna' join the guild?"

lucy gave him a questioning look. "what do you mean?"

"you wanna' join the guild?" he repeated. "stay at the guild, y'know?"

"oh," lucy nodded. "yeah."

that's when a little red headed girl strolled over to them. "you'd like to join the guild?" she asked.

"um, yeah," lucy shrugged and nodded.

"i shall get master!" the red haired girl ran off.

as lucy waited, the blonde haired boy spoke again. "the name is laxus, and you?"

lucy stared at him.

"lucy."

the boy known as laxus, nodded. he wanted very bad to ask lucy what had happened to her and why she looked so beat up. but he kept his mouth shut, thinking she'd probably not want to talk about it.

she noticed him staring, so her first instinct was to hold out her hand.

laxus blinked a few times and took her hand, lightly shaking it.

they were silent.

until the redhead came rushing back, with a little man following behind her.

the little man stopped in front of lucy. "hello, child. come with me," he said and smiled nonchalantly.

lucy nodded and the little man began to walk elsewhere, lucy followed.

he stopped in front of a wooden door and stood on his tip toes to open it.

he motioned for lucy to go inside when he opened the door. "come on in," he said.

when she was in, he walked inside and closed the door.

it was a small room, a few papers scattered across the floor. a desk with even more papers was in the back of the room, as well as a desk chair. and lastly, there was a chair in front of the desk.

fairytail's master pov

i sat at my desk, pushing a few papers aside so i could see the little girl in front of me.

she was small, with blonde hair that was pulled back into a ponytail at the top of her head. she had big, chocolate brown eyes and pale skin.

her lip was busted and little blood droplets continuously fell. dried blood sat on her chin. she had a barely visible scar on the right side of her jawline.

she wore a little pink dress that was quite filthy, a rather big red jacket with full pockets. she had on white open toed sandals and on her left ankle was white scale patterned fabric that fit her ankle perfectly.

as i looked closer at her legs, i noticed many scars as well as tired feet.

i smiled at the girl. "you may sit," i told her gently.

she sat.

"my name is macarov. the kids here call me gramps. i'm the master. what's your name, child?"

"lucy."

"just lucy?"

she thought about it for a moment before nodding. "yup," she said, popping the p.

"so you'd you like to join fairytail? that is wonderful!" i clapped my hands.

she smiled. "yeah, i guess so. i don't know much about this."

"would you like me to explain?"

she nodded.

"well, do fairies really have tails?
do they even exist? like them, this place is an eternal mystery.. and a never ending adventure!"

she looked at me weirdly. "still kinda' confused," she laughed.

"well, here at fairytail, we are just a family. each one of us is different.—
and we accept each other.
we go on missions and help others, but we have fun and party, too.
lucy, dear, i'd love if you'd join the guild and explore the love of this guild. we welcome you with open arms."

"i'll join!" and as i stared into her eyes, i could tell, she was hiding behind a shell. she was hurt, and didn't want to be hurt anymore.

"so tell me about yourself, child," i said. "like of what magic you possess, and... if only if you're willing, what has happened? why are you bleeding?"

"oh," she shrugged, lightly sighing. "i fell."

she was lying. still, i shrugged it off and asked again. "you can tell me anything, lucy. i want you to know that.
i see you've been hurt, and it's fine if you don't want to talk about it. but i want— i need you to know that i am always right here. you don't have to be afraid anymore."

"it's fine, macarov. really," she said. "there is no need to worry."

i sighed and nodded. "but tell me about yourself!" my lips curved into a smile.

"i'm 10 years old," she said and help up all 10 fingers. she put her hands down and took a deep breath.

"i'm also a dragon slayer," she stated proudly.

dragon slayer? she's uses dragon slaying magic? that's lost magic.

"really?" i've never met a dragon slayer. well, laxus is a dragon slayer, though he had a lacrima planted inside of him. "did you have a lacrima planted inside you?"

"no. what is that?"

my mouth opened slightly due to shock. "you were taught by a dragon?"

"dragon-s," she corrected.

"oh! wow! what can you do?"

"well.. dragon slaying magic," she shrugged.

"may you demonstrate?" i asked. before she could say anything, i said, "it doesn't have to today or right now. let's make you an official guild member, alright!?"

she nodded with a smile on her face.

i opened one of my desk drawers and pulled out the fairytail guild stamp. "what color and where?"

she sat there for a moment, thinking. "right here," she pointed to her left calf, just above her ankle. "and in blue!"

as i stamped her, i smiled up at her and said, "welcome to fairytail."
