[Soul Eater AU, funny, fluff]
Sakura's heart thumped harder as she waited in the what-felt-empty classroom.
"Sorry, Sakura. We're switching out. I'm gonna be Sasuke's Meister from now on."
Are they even allowed to do that?She internally groaned and leaned on her desk.
"Ah, Sakura?" Kakashi rose a brow, "is Naruto, Hinata, or Sasuke coming to class at all?"
"I'm not sure." Sakura sighed, "about Sasuke..."
"He's not coming, is he?"
"No, probably not." She chewed on her cheek and stared down at her book, "hypothetically speaking... Is it possible... For a weapon to switch Meisters whenever they want?"
"I don't know. You tell me, Sakura."
"I can only imagine it'd be hard, since the weapon and Meister put so much effort into matching each other's wavelengths in the first place. On top of that, isn't there some sort of rule?"
"There isn't a rule, but it's extremely hard." Kakashi cleared his throat, "as a weapon, it hurts if two contrasting wavelengths clash which is why it's important that the two's wavelengths match."
That's right... Kakashi-Sensei is a Demon Weapon, too. He transforms into a Demon Blade and was the weapon of the infamous Yellow Flash, Minato Namikaze, who succeeded in turning Kakashi-Sensei into a Death Scythe. He would know this stuff.
"Sorry I'm late!"
Sakura and Kakashi turned to the door and watched as Naruto walked in followed by Sasuke and Hinata.
"Naruto." Kakashi crossed his arms, "why are you late?"
"I had to have a little talk with these two." Naruto gestured to the two behind him, "we're all good now."
Their teacher looked at them peculiarly, "are you guys switching weapons?"
"What?!" Hinata looked at him in horror, "h-how'd you know?!"
"Just a hunch."
"So anyway, yeah. We're switching out." Naruto set his hand on Sasuke's shoulder, "the two of us have gotten along really well these past few weeks ever since we met Sasuke, just like Sakura and Hinata get along so well. We decided the solution to this problem is to switch!"
"Idiot!" Sakura gritted her teeth, "there wasn't any problem with the way things were!"
"Sakura." Sasuke looked at her, "let's just try something new."
"You're an idiot too! Do you know how hard it is to switch partners?!"
"Yeah. But I think it's all part of the experience."
"Sasuke, we agreed that I'd make you a Death Scythe. Are we just gonna give up on that dream?"
He looked at her and sighed, "I'll just leave it to Naruto. Hinata's the lucky one here."
"N-no, Sasuke!" Hinata grabbed his arm, "Naruto and I..."
"Sorry, Hinata." Naruto took Sakura's arm, "Sakura's your problem now."
"Hey!" Sakura clenched Naruto's wrist, "you're the one who wanted this switch in the first place!"
"Actually, Sasuke agreed."
"I did not!"
"Then what are you doing?!"
"P-please stop! Naruto, don't do this!"
Kakashi sighed, "you children really are a pain. Naruto, you can use Sasuke. Sakura, learn to use Hinata. We're done here. Go out and do some training or something."
The four kids, still holding each other's arms, watched as Kakashi pulled out a book and walked out of the room.
"So this is it." Sakura glared at Sasuke, "our partnership is over, just like that?"
"Yeah. Sucks, too. It was your night to do dinner."
"Yeah? Well that's your loss!" Sakura spat in his face before taking Hinata's hand and dragging her outside, "let's go, Hinata. We have training to do."
Naruto burst out into laughter, "man, she was upset, wasn't she? Let's go, Sasuke! We have to train so we can go take on a mission and show them what we've got."
"Yeah. Sure." Sasuke nodded and watched Sakura as she walked off with Hinata.

"Let's go, Soul Resonance!"
Sakura held the Demon Blade and swung, "wh-what's supposed to happen?"
"You're supposed to be able to use the Sacred Sword Mode."
"No way... This won't work." Sakura set the Demon Blade carefully onto the ground and sighed, "sorry, Hinata. We need to work on getting Naruto and Sasuke back to their original partners."
Hinata transformed back and nodded, "yeah, I agree."
"Guys!!"
"Well, what do you know..." Sakura crossed her arms as Naruto and Sasuke ran up to them, "giving up already?"
"Kakashi-Sensei assigned a mission to us!" Naruto grinned, "let's see what you guys can do!"
"N-no, Naruto!" Hinata grabbed his arm, "if we go out there like this, we can die. We're not ready. Let's just switch back--"
"No way. We're gonna prove to you that we've got this."

Sakura and Naruto cautiously walked through the forest and looked around slowly.
"You're sure this is the right place, Naruto?" Sasuke, in Demon Scythe form, called out.
"This is it. I'm pretty sure."
Sakura glared at him, "you're pretty sure,huh?"
"I'm not feeling good about this..."
Sakura felt the blade she held in her hand tremble, "don't worry, Hinata. I won't let you get hurt."
Naruto looked at her before turning back to the path, "you feel that, don't you, Sakura?"
"Yeah." Sakura gripped the handle of the Demon Blade and nodded, "of course I do. Come out! There's no point hiding!"
"Heh..." A form slowly stepped out, "I'm offended. I didn't think the Konoha Academy would send children to defeat me. I thought I'd be up against more than this. How boring."
Wait a sec...Sakura peered at the man that stood before them, "his soul doesn't look right..."
"Alright, Sasuke!" Naruto held the Demon Scythe ready to fight, "ready to show off what we got?"
"I suppose..."
Naruto took off running towards the man and swung as hard as he could without thinking about their souls' wavelengths. Before the blade could hit, an electric shock surged through Naruto's body and he dropped the scythe, "ow!! Sasuke, what the heck! That hurt!"
"What are you talking about?! You're the one who didn't adjust your wavelength!"
"Oh, my bad."
"You two are hopeless!" Sakura yelled, "get back here! That's not an evil soul--"
Before Naruto could do anything, their unexpected opponent appeared behind him and kicked him roughly in the back and smashed his face into the dirt.
"I have no business with you children."
"Naruto!"
The blade in Sakura's hand vanished as Hinata transformed and ran up to her partner, "H-Hinata..."
Hinata glowed yellow, "Demon Smoke bomb!"
Once she transformed into a small metal ball, she let herself drop onto the ground and burst into a cloud of smoke.
Demon Smoke bomb? Their enemy stared in horror. Wasn't she just a blade?! Don't tell me she can transform into different weapons... Well, I can deal with that.
He turned to where Sakura stood watching through the smoke and held his arm out towards her, "I'll just start with you, then."
"Sakura!!"
Sakura heard Sasuke's voice right before being grabbed at the ankle, "wh-what the?!"
What looked like a wooden hand burst through the dirt under her and threatened to pull her under.
"N-no way!!" Sakura gripped her fist and smashed the hand before leaping out of the way.
"Wow, impressive... You broke my puppet." The man brought his hand back down, "such a shame... You won't live much longer."
"Ah, Naruto." Sakura turned to the blonde boy that laid coughing on the ground, "what kind of mission did Kakashi-Sensei sign us up for?!"
"I-I don't know..." Naruto sighed and rubbed his head, "sorry..."
"Stay back." Sakura took Hinata's hand, "you'll only get hurt worse if you try to push yourself."
Naruto tried to get up, "n-no, Sakura... That's no... That's no evil spirit..."
"You don't think I figured that out for myself?" Sakura glared at the man, "he's an Akatsuki."
"S-Sakura..." Hinata looked at her, "are you really going to..."
"Who'll fight him if no one does?" Sakura spoke without looking at her, "let's go, Hinata. Weapon form."
"N-no... Hinata..." Naruto muttered, "y-you guys will..."
"It's okay, Naruto." Hinata smiled, "we'll protect you."
She squeezed Sakura's hand, glowed yellow, and the moment she transformed into a Demon Katana, Sakura ran forward and attacked.
"What amateurs..." The man held up his hand and to block the attack was a puppet, "how boring."
"Tch!" Sakura sliced through each puppet he threw in her path and continued until she finally reached him, "got you!"
Before her blade could hit him, one last puppet flew forward and blocked her blow with its own sword.
"I don't think I can allow that." He smirked, "now, who are you kids again?"
"My name is Sakura Haruno. Demon Scythe meister. And your Akatsuki soul is mine."
"Oh?" He grinned evilly, "Demon Scythe? Where's your scythe?"
"Mm..."Hinata murmured to herself, "that's none of your concern!"
"Well then..." The man smirked, "my name is Sasori, the great Puppet Master. And all your souls are mine."
"Hinata... Let's try that thing from earlier."
"What? You can't be serious! Sakura, with even the slightest mistake... We could both get severely injured from the clashing wavelengths!"
"We need to beat this guy." Sakura looked down at the blade she held tight in her hand, "I'm counting on you, Hinata."
"Sure."
"Let's go, Soul Resonance!"
The katana glowed yellow as Sakura glowed blue. Electricity began crackling around her as they built up their souls' wavelengths into pure energy.
"S-Sakura!!" Hinata shut her eyes, "I-It's overloading!!"
"We can keep going!" Sakura felt the beads of sweat as she never broke eye contact with Sasori, "we need to... Kill him!!"
Before anything else could happen, the energy they built up burst into a giant explosion, sending Sakura and Hinata backwards in two different directions.
"Sakura! Hinata!" Naruto grunted as he attempted to get up and run, only falling over in the process.
Sakura flew back into a tree and crashed to the ground, the tree tipping in the process.
"Sakura!!"
The crash of the fallen tree echoed, barely missing her. She slowly opened her eyes and breathed heavily.
"I-I can't..." Sakura panted painfully, "I need to..."
"Sakura! Get a hold of yourself!!"
Sakura weakly looked up to see Sasuke holding her, "S-Sa... Sasuke..."
"Sorry. Agreeing to switch partners with Naruto wasn't cool." He smiled sadly down at her, "because of that, you nearly died."
"I-I'm fine..." Sakura coughed and tried to get up but was stopped by her partner, "S-Sasuke!"
"Cheating on your partner isn't cool, either." He smirked, "so, Sakura? If you're fine, you ready to beat this guy?"
Sakura coughed weakly and grabbed his hand, "help me up, first..."
I should've known... Sasuke chuckled and carefully helped her up. Our wavelengths match. She's the only one. Not Naruto, not Hinata, it's only her. There's no one that can be my partner... My meister...
Except her.
"Let's go, Sasuke!" Sakura squeezed his hand.
"Roger that." He smiled, glowed red, and transformed back into a Demon Scythe.
Sakura gripped the staff and ran forward.
"Ineffective." Sasori attempted to block the attack with yet another puppet.
"Let's go, Soul Resonance!"
What?!Sasori watched as the long, glowing red blade easily got through both the puppet and even the ground below it, "no way... Witch Hunter?! At their age?!"
"That's right." Sasuke smirked to himself, "and it's by the Witch Hunter you're going to die."
Sasori looked at them, chuckled, and sighed, "I have no choice, do I?"
"No. You don't." Sakura smiled and swung the Scythe upward, eliminating Sasori in the process.
"Hey, we did it."
Sakura looked down at her weapon, "I'm sorry, Sasuke... I don't want you to keep protecting me..."
"It's not your fault. Besides, you really deserve most of the credit, anyway." Sasuke replied as he transformed from weapon form and held Sakura's shoulders, "don't worry about it. It's my job to protect you as your weapon."
"I don't want you to die either, though." She looked up at him, "so just be careful."
"Of course I'll be careful."
"Didja see that?!" Naruto jumped up and down around the floating red soul that was left in Sasori's place, "I killed an Akatsuki!! Pretty amazing, right?"
"Y-yeah..." Hinata laughed weakly.
"He's such a handful..." Sakura groaned, "I pity Hinata sometimes..."
"I learned something." Sasuke smiled, "this whole switch was a mess. Hinata's the only one that can handle Naruto. And the only one that can match my soul's wavelenth is you, Sakura."
She nodded, "let's not switch anymore, okay?"
Sasuke laughed and took her hand, "yeah."
We were practically made for each other. Sakura smiled, gripping his hand tighter. Sasuke nodded in response.
I knew from the day I agreed to be her partner... Sasuke smiled.
She's the one for me.
