"Okay baby, mamas going to get you some pampers" I talked to Riley as she cried her poor little eyes out. I was sitting up in the twin sized bed the shelter provided for us,we've been here 3 days . This was Riley's 3rd time waking up tonight. I knew it was because my baby wanted this wet pamper off of her.
"What's wrong with her?" Shay said. Shay was 19 and she had a three year old son. I meet her when I first got here and we instantly took a liking to each other.
"She has dirty diaper, but she doesn't have anymore." I said while rocking Riley, trying to quiet her so she won't wake the other people up. Shay walked off, then came back with a diaper.
"Where did you get this from CJ wheres pull ups?" I said wondering who she'd got the diaper from.
"Girl shhh, I took one out of April's bag. Her daughter has a whole box." She said while pointing over to a sleeping lady.
"Girl, thanks. I'm going to make sure as I get Riley a new box to return her diaper." I said while laughing. Shay is wild, one thing I like about her is that she doesn't let her situation bring her down. I've learned to do the same.
"Well I'm going back to bed now that lil RiRi is calm and happy. Night" She said while walking off to her bed.
"Night" I rocked Riley for a while till she went back to sleep. I laid her right next to me and put my arms around her. As soon as my head hit the pillow it was lights out.

Next Morning
"Shay can I use your phone to make a call really quick?" I asked Shay. I woke right up and bathed me and Ri, my plans today were to get a job. I can't have my baby going through this any longer.
"Yea girl, hea hunny. Put it on the charger when your done I'm taking CJ to the park" She said while handing me her iPhone 5s.
"K" I grabbed the business card Amir gave me and typed in his number. The phone rang for awhile until he finally picked up.
"Hello"
"Hi is this Amir?"
"Yeah, who dis?"
"Hey Amir this is Nia. The girl you dropped off to the shelter a couple days ago."
"Oh hey Nia, how are you?"
"Good. I was calling to talk to you about that job offer"
"Oh yeah, how bout I come get you and babygirl and take you guys to get some breakfast. We discuss things there" He said.
"Yeah that's fine"
"Ok, what time will y'all be ready?"
"Umm you can come now. We're already dressed."
"Okay I'm on my way then. See you soon"
"Okay"
I grabbed my purse, Ri's diaper bag, and put her in her stroller. I decided to wait outside for him. About 10 minutes later I saw a red Corvette pull into the parking area. Then Amir got out the car.
"Hey Nia. You ready?" He said while walking up to us. He bent down and played with Riley's fingers. She smiled, slightly opening her eyes.
"Yeah" I took Riley out the stroller and he got the stroller and put it in his trunk. We all got in the car and were on our way.
"So how have things been?" He asked.
"They've been going. Just ready to be out of this predicament. This is a nice car" I didn't really want to be talking about my situation right now.
"Yeah, this my baby" He said. We pulled up to IHOP and got out. We went inside and were seated.
"Can I hold her?"
"Sure, here" I said while passing Riley to Amir.
"She sooo cute, how many months is she?" He asked, he had the biggest smile on his face holding he. It made me smile.
"She's only one month old" I said while looking at the menu.
"Aww, she's so small." I smiled, while rubbing her hair.
"Aww y'all are such a beautiful family. I'm Rachel and I will be your server for today. Can I start you guys off with drinks" Our waitress said. I completely ignored that comment.
"Yeah I'll take an orange juice" Amir said.
"I'll have the same" I said.
"Okay I'll be right out with those." She said while walking away.
"Well I've been thinking, and I have two offers for you. Its completely your choice. You either can work the register at the store. Or I have this nanny job for you." He said. I thought about it, whose going to watch Ri if I'm working at the store. Shay has a job, so she can't.
"Ok well what's in the Nanny gig?"
"Well I have a two year old niece, she just started living with me last week. Her mom is in rehab, I need you to be her fulltime nanny. You would come to my house everyday, except Sunday's. I'll pay you a $100 dollars an hour." He said. I really couldn't miss this offer a $100 dollars an hour, and he wants me to watch her everyday all day! In 12 hours I'll have $1'200. I'll be out of the shelter in at the most three weeks. I can find an apartment, a phone, and I'll be able to get Riley everything she needs.
"That's sounds really good, but I won't have anyone to babysit Riley" I said while putting my head down. The waitress came back with our drinks.
"Here y'all go, are you guys ready to order?" She asked.
"I'll have the steak omelette meal. I want my sides to grits and bacon with some pancakes" Damn he could eat.
"Okay, for you?"
"Umm I'll have the strawberry cheesecake pancake meal with bacon and eggs." I said. She took our orders and left.
"Well you can just bring her with you. That's not an issue, so are you up for it?"
"Hell yes. I would be crazy not to. When do I start?" I said while sipping my orange juice. Amir was over there playing with my babies hair. She was just over there enjoying the attention, just like her mama.
"Tomorrow is Sunday so you can start Monday" He said.
"Okay, thank you so much Amir. I really appreciate the help." I said while looking at him. No one has every did such a thing for me, and I will be forever grateful.
"It's no problem Nia, really" He said. Rachel came back with our food and we started eating.
"Look at her little greedy self. You can't eat this mama" I said while looking at her watch Amir eat.
"Here let me see her, do you mind if I go to your car to breastfeed her" I asked Amir while grabbing Riley.
"Not at all, here go the keys." He said while still eating.
"Thanks, I'll be right back" I went out side and feed Riley. I should've pumped her some milk before I left but I didn't think about that. Once I was done I went back into IHOP. Looked like Amir was ordering something else.
"Yeah I'll have some of y'all original pancakes." He told Rachel. I sat down with Riley and laughed at him.
"You sure can eat" I said while laughing at him.
"Man I'm hungry asf, and plus they pancakes be bussing" He said while rubbing his flat stomach.
"This is my first time here. I like it, those pancakes were good." I said.
"See I told you, well I ordered my pancakes to go. Did you ant anything else, if not we can go." He asked.
"No I'm full, thank you for the breakfast." I said while rocking Riley. Her hand was on my breast as she slowly went to sleep.
"Your welcome Nia. Let's go" He said while getting his pancakes from Rachel.
We walked out of IHOP and got in the car. We riding silently, but it was a comfortable silence. The music was playing, and Riley was peacefully sleeping without a care in the world.
We were riding and I noticed we passed the shelter.
"We're are we going?" I asked sitting up and looking around.
"Relax, I figured you were tired of being there so I decided to let you guys tag along with me while I run some errands. If that's cool with you?"
"Oh yeah, sure."
