young...
Every time they approached a bouncer at a club that they weren't rich enough or popular enough to get into, Demi held her breath. It was a force of habit. Every time she stepped up to a bouncer wearing a cheap dress that she had picked off the rack at Forever 21 and the glossy black stilettos that she had stolen from her sister's closet when she went to college, it was a reminder of her place in this world. Her parents were upper middle class at best but on her own, she was a poor college student who scarfed down ramen noodles while finishing a paper at two in the morning and who had to find other ways to put some extra change in her back pocket. This was one of those ways. So even though her best friend could usually flash the bouncer her perky double D's or she convienently knew someone who was going into the club, Demi still held her breath because there was always a chance for rejection, especially in her world.

They approached the bouncer, and once again Demi held her breath. But then she saw Lani whisper something in the bouncer's ear, her manicured hand trailing down his chest and flitting over the zipper of his jeans, and they were let in. It was like magic. Well, it was seducation at best and Lani knew that she was the best at it. That's why she shot Demi a smug smirk before grabbing her hand and tugging her into the flashy club.

It didn't matter which city, which street, or which building a club was in, they were all the same. Flashy lights. DJ in the corner near the bar. Tables scattered around the edges. Dark hallway leading to the bathrooms. So typical. Yet Demi never got tired of it.

"Let's make a round then stop at the bar!" Lani demanded as Demi smiled and willingly followed along.

Oh, Lani. They had grown up thick as thieves back in Texas, goofing off in ballet class and making the lives of their parents absolute hell as soon as they hit high school. When the time came for them to choose colleges, they had both settled on the same three, and they were all University of California schools. USC offered them the best financial aid package so right after graduation, they packed up each other's rooms and embarked on their new journey together. They weren't opposites. One of them wasn't more wild than the other. They didn't balance each other out. They were basically the same. Their parents always joked that they were twins who had been separated at birth because that's how alike they were.

So, it was only natural that when Lani discovered a way to make some extra money during their sophomore year of college, Demi went right along with it. Everything they did, they did it together. Everything.

"There's a guy on the floor wearing Gucci loafers and a Gucci belt. He must be loaded," Lani said as they settled at the bar, flipping her golden ombré hair off of her bare shoulder as Demi quickly ordered them two vodka shots, a rum punch for her, and a Cosmo for Lani.

"They could be fake," Demi chimed in but Lani shook her head.

"No way. He was coming down from the VIP section and ordered one of those Jay Z bottles for everyone in the section. Everyone," Lani emphasized, her hazel eyes twinkling as they clinked their shots together then quickly drank them down.

"How are we going to get into VIP?" Demi questioned as Lani turned around and looked at the roped off section of the club.

"Follow me," Lani winked as they both stood up with their drinks, following her towards the roped off section of the club that onlookers were dancing around.

Demi felt herself becoming anxious as they approached the two bouncers but she didn't even have a chance to calm herself down because someone bumped into her, causing her drink to spill all over the front of the white dress that she had picked up with the spare change she found in one of her leather jackets.

"Fuck, are you blind?" Demi screeched, looking at the culprit as Lani moved next to her, ready to defend her.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there," he apologized.

Demi couldn't even tell who he was behind his dark shades. What type of asshole wore shades in the club?

"Really? You didn't see me in this white ass dress with my ass hanging out?" Demi interrogated.

She felt Lani tug on her hand so she calmed herself down a little bit as the stranger took off his sunglasses, omitting a gasp from Lani.

"Like I said, I'm really sorry. How about you come and join me and my friends?" Trey Songz suggested, a cocky smirk now on his lips as he saw the reaction that he got from Lani.

"With my dress like this?" Demi questioned. Because the dress was white, the material of the punch was making her lacy black bra very see through.

"Here." He shrugged out of his leather jacket and passed it to her, wrapping it around her shoulders so that she could stick her arms through the holes.

"Come on," he said, grabbing her hand and leading her towards where they were already going. One of the bouncers automatically disconnected the rope and let them in, closing it again once they were inside the VIP section.

"Here, make yourselves comfortable. Let me get you guys a bottle," Trey said, helping Demi sit down in one of the padded circular booths, then Lani slid in next to her. As soon as he was gone, Lani turned to Demi and excitedly hit her arm.

"Fuck, now do you see why I call you lucky charm?" Lani squealed as Demi playfully rolled her eyes.

Actually, Lani called Demi "lucky charm" because when they were younger, she used to pick all of the marshmallows out of the box of Lucky Charms and just eat that in a bowl with milk. That was weight that she had a lot of fun working off during her high school years.

"What is he doing at a club in a college town?" Demi questioned, peering over at him as he stood at the bar. He turned around and caught her eye, shooting her a wink that caused a streak of red to shoot up her neck and fill her cheeks.

"Who cares? Demi, you have to get with him tonight."

"For money or the experience?"

"Both. You think he'd be down for a threesome?" Lani questioned in all seriousness. It wouldn't be the first time they had shared the same guy. Like she said before, they did everything together.

"Considering what he sings about, I don't think he'd be opposed," Demi giggled as Trey walked back over to them. She sat up a little bit straighter and bumped her hip with Lani's so that she would scoot over.

"Here you go. I hope this makes up for the dress," Trey sheepishly said as he sat down next to her.

"Hmm, I don't know. This was one of my favorites," Demi wishfully sighed as Trey threw one arm around her shoulder.

"Well, maybe one day you'll let me take you out to get a new one," he responded as Demi smiled but didn't say anything.

"I didn't get your name," he said as Demi hesitated for a second but then straightened up.

"It's Demi." Usually she didn't give out her real name but what were the odds of her actually seeing Trey Songz again?

"That's cute," he said as Demi tried to fight the blush that was threatening to fill her cheeks.

"So, is anybody on in this fancy ass VIP section?" Lani asked, interrupting their conversation.

"Yeah, my man Slim over there is the plug. Tell him I sent you and he shouldn't charge you shit," Trey said as Lani thanked him before leaving the booth, leaving Trey and Demi alone.

"So, what are the odds of you coming home with me tonight?" Trey asked as Demi raised her eyebrow at how forward he was. She didn't blame him. She was the same way.

"Alone?"

"Yeah..."

Sorry Lani.

"Depends on what you're willing to pay," Demi said in a half joking manner.

If she was doing her math right, Trey was damn near ten years older than her. But he probably didn't know that. Or maybe he did and he just didn't care. Once you get past a certain age, age really is just a number.

"What?" He looked surprised until Demi burst into a fit of giggles.

"I'm just kidding," she giggled as he shook his head.

"So, is that a yes?"

"Why do you want me to go home with you?" Demi asked as she turned towards him a little bit, crossing one leg over the other.

"I can show you better than I can tell you..." he whispered as his hand made a trail from her face down to her neck, disappearing underneath his jacket before he reached her smooth thighs, gently prying her legs apart before running his hand all over them, stopping right before where they met.

"Really?" Demi breathed out as he nodded, using his thumb to move the lacy material of her thong aside, running it along her slit as she released a shaky breath and squeezed her thighs together, trapping his hand there.

"You ready to go?" He asked, causing her to nod as she released a shallow breath then opened her eyes to look into his smothering ones. Before she could say anything else, Lani interrupted them and from the smirk on her face, she knew exactly what she was interrupting.

"Um, this club is dead so Slim invited me to an after party. You in?" Lani asked as Demi opened her mouth to say yes but Trey answered for her.

"We'll meet you there. I know where it is. You riding with him?"

"Yeah. I don't like to watch people have sex unless I get to join in," Lani retorted as Demi rolled her eyes at her antics.

"Maybe next time. You ready to go Demi?" Trey asked, removing his hand from her center and standing up all at once.

"Yeah," she said, taking the same hand that was almost inside of her as she looked at Lani.

"Text me when you get there please. Don't forget license plate numbers and-"

"Name of people in the car, blah, blah, blah. Your paranoia about getting sold into a sex trafficking ring is still annoying," Lani said before placing a loud kiss on Demi's cheek and practically skipping away.

"You ready now?" Trey asked with a bit of an edge to his voice as Demi nodded and closed the distance between them.

"Let's go."

The oak wooden door with the brass knocker that Demi used to bang against the door to annoy her parents whenever she lost her house key still looked the exact same. Her mother kept two red pots of yellow chrysanthemums on either side of the door and they were still growing. There was also a little bunny perched next to one of the pots wearing a pastel plaid shirt holding a wooden sign that said "welcome home." This hadn't been home in so long. She had left for college and never looked back. The last time she spent any real time with her parents was her college graduation and that was years ago. Now here she was, back on their doorstep, and she didn't know what to expect. But she still reached forward and rang the doorbell because Aiden was getting heavy in her arms and all she wanted to do was lay him down.

A few Mississippi's passed before the door swung open and her mother stood on the other side. Her five foot tall, ginger haired mother. The years had aged her but she still had her beautiful soft brown eyes and this warmth about her that just made you want to stay cuddled up to her at all times.

"Demi?" She questioned, as if she couldn't believe that the daughter that she hadn't seen in years was standing on her doorstep holding a five year old. Demi wouldn't be able to believe it either.

"Hi mommy," she whimpered.

wild...
There were only three times in her life where Demi had woken up with absolutely no recollection of where she was and what had happened the night before.

1. Her and Lani's sweet sixteen. Lani was only older than her by a week so they had always celebrated their birthdays together. Always. Of course they had drank alcohol before but they had been testing their limits, trying to figure out how much was too much. But for some reason on their sweet sixteen, after receiving matching white Jeeps (their favorite movie was Clueless) they were in the mood to celebrate, someone had spiked all of the punch at their party, and they woke up the next morning in the hotel suite that their parents had booked for them with absolutely no idea how they had gotten there.

2. The post-post grad party. Post grad was an event at their school that meant what it said. It was the post graduation party held at the high school to provide a safe space for kids to celebrate their graduation without weed, alcohol, sex, etc. Well, that wasn't enough for them so there was a post-post grad party at Aaron Carter's outrageous private cabin. The alcohol was flowing, everyone was in a good mood, and the next morning Demi woke up between two of her half naked classmates and she had to grill pretty much everyone at the party to figure out what had happened the night before.

And the third was today. Demi Lovato groaned as she rolled onto her side. She was completely sore from the events that had transpired between them last night and only now could she look back and realize how reckless they had been. The plan was to pregame the after party but after a full bottle of vodka and a few swigs of Hennessy, the party had been completely forgotten about and instead they had their own little party. Blunts were rolled, a few innocent lines of coke were snorted, and sheets were completely destroyed as they became lost in their own world. Judging by the aching between her legs and the swollen love bites that decorated her body, she had been too far gone to even realize how rough he was with her last night...not that she minded.

Demi really didn't even know where she was, and by that she meant that she had absolutely no concept of time or space. The only thing she knew was that Trey was halfway wrapped around her body, and he was also snoring in her ear. Since it was clear that she wasn't going to be able to get up anytime soon, Demi took that time to take in her surroundings. Trey's room wasn't really anything special. It was big, it was bright, but there wasn't really anything in the room that gave away what kind of person he was. Everything was neat and put away, which was the complete opposite of the two bedroom apartment that Demi shared with Lani. The curtains were open so Demi could see a little bit of a view. He lived on a hill, away from everyone and everything else. Demi briefly remembered sitting on the top of his drop top convertible while zooming up the winding pathway that led into the mountains.

Demi glanced at Trey but a little 5x7 frame on his nightstand caught her attention, and it caused her to giggle as she remembered last night, and that little giggle is what made Trey wake up.

"Morning," he whispered, moving so that half of his weight wasn't on her but their bodies were still intertwined.

"Morning," Demi continued to giggle as she reached across him to grab the frame off of his nightstand. "A gentleman in the streets, a master in the bedroom. Did one of your one night stands get you this?"

She set the frame back on the nightstand as Trey stretched out.

"Maybe. You think it's true?" He asked as Demi chuckled and wrapped one of her legs around his.

"I briefly remember you offering to tie me up with a Tom Ford tie so maybe," she said as she rested her head on his shoulder.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, just watching the shadows cast on the wall by the sun before Demi broke the silence.

"We never made it to the party," she quietly said, tucking a wispy caramel colored strand behind her ear. "Lani must be freaking out. I should find my phone."

"Is Lani your sister?"

"Basically. We grew up together, we do everything together. She's basically my twin," Demi explained, making no attempts to get up even though she knew that Lani was probably cursing her seven ways to Sunday for not answering her phone.

"Do you have plans for the rest of the weekend?"

"No...why?"

"Because I don't want you to go yet," Trey said, cupping her rosy cheek in his palm as a semblance of a smile graced her features.

"I don't want to go yet either..."

"Good," he said, giving her a brief kiss on the lips, causing her to close her eyes in satisfaction as she chewed on her bottom lip.

"Good..."

and free.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DEMETRIAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!"

Demi could recognize that screechy singing voice from anywhere. She couldn't help but to laugh as she opened her eyes and saw Lani set a plate of blueberry waffles on her nightstand before tackling her with a hug and smothering her in kisses.

"My baby is finally 21!" She squealed.

Yes, her birthday was late as hell, meaning that even though she was a senior in college, she was just now turning 21. Lani thought she was the shit just because she had turned 21 the week before so she could finally stop using her fake ID at the bars in the clubs that they frequented.

"Get off of me," Demi giggled, shoving her to the side so that she could sit up.

"So, I was thinking that we could totally hit up the shops today, get our tan on at the beach, then head to Nuevo!" Lani suggested as Demi combed her fingers through her wild waves.

"Actually...um, Trey said he had something planned. I'm surprised he didn't tell you," Demi said, her face instantly going pink at the mention of her boyfriend.

Her and Trey had been going strong for six months now, and Demi could honestly say that it was the best six months of her life. Besides her slipping up in school a little bit because she constantly wanted to be around Trey, Demi could honestly say that she was in love. She hadn't told him yet and she wasn't planning on it anytime soon but she was serious about their relationship.

"No, he didn't," Lani crinkled her nose at the mention of Trey but didn't say anything else about it. For some reason when Demi told Lani that Trey officially asked her to be his girlfriend after a few dates, Lani caught a sour attitude about their entire relationship but she wouldn't even tell Demi why, so Demi just brushed it off. If Lani really wanted her to know something, she would tell her. That's just how she was.

"I'm sure whatever it is we'll still be able to celebrate together. It wouldn't be a birthday without you," Demi said, tackling Lani to the bed the same way that she had done to her as Lani giggled.

"Whatever. As long as there's weed and alcohol, I'm good," Lani said, tickling Demi's sides and causing her best friend to burst into her obnoxious giggles.

Demi was legitimately the only person who actually "hahaha'ed" and it was the funniest thing in the world. Her laughter was so infectious. Everything about her was infectious.

Over Demi's loud laughs they heard the doorbell ring, so Demi climbed off of Lani before they both rushed to buzz whoever it was in. Demi just assumed that it was Trey so she didn't bother changing out of his long sleeve white tee that she had stolen out of his drawer while he was showering one morning.

There was a knock on the door and Demi pulled it open but she quickly jumped back and folded her arms over her braless chest as five women entered their apartment carrying two bouquets of white roses in each hand.

"It'll take us a few trips to bring the rest up. I hope that's okay," one of them said before they all walked back out to go back downstairs. Demi was in awe as she took in all of the flowers in their living room. What was she supposed to do with all of them?

"To my lucky charm. This is just the beginning," Lani read off of one of the notes attached to the base. "Hey, I'm the only one who's allowed to call you that!"

The women came back holding even more flowers, all white roses. They set them in the living room then walked back out. A few minutes later, they didn't come back with white roses, but instead shopping bags. Designer shopping bags. Demi nearly squealed as she saw the orange Louis Vuitton bags and the classic black Chanel bags. Sure she splurged every once in a while with the money she used to get from old men who were satisfied with handjobs, but she had never splurged like this.

"All of this stuff is probably the cost of our tuition, rent, electricity, water..."

Lani kept talking but Demi tuned her out because as soon as the women walked out, Trey walked in and closed the door behind him. That's the effect that he had on her. Once he entered the room, no one else mattered. That's why Demi couldn't help but to run and jump into his arms because even though he was just with her last night, he had to leave to go to the studio with some of his friends. But being back in his arms was all that mattered. It was so weird but it was like when they were apart she couldn't properly breathe. But as soon as she was back with him, everything felt right again. She was at ease. Nothing else in the entire world mattered. Just him.

"Happy birthday, baby," he cooed into her ear as Demi dug her face in his neck and tightened her legs around his waist.

"You didn't have to do all of this for me," Demi said, lifting her head up so that she could look into his eyes. His beautiful, clear, brown eyes.

"Yes, I did. I told you that when you're with me, you only get the best," he said, rubbing at the dimples in her back as Demi beamed. She almost said those three words. They were right at the tip of her tongue, waiting for her to open her mouth so that they could jump out, but instead Demi swallowed them down and put all of her energy into kissing him. And it would've went so much further if Lani hadn't cleared her throat.

"Remember what I said about not wanting to watch two people have sex unless I get to join?" She inquired as Trey pulled away from Demi and smirked.

"I mean, if you're down," Trey shrugged, but Lani rolled her eyes. And it wasn't playful like it had been in the club all of those months ago. She actually looked disgusted at the thought.

"With you? No thanks. Demi, what do you wanna do today?" Lani asked as Demi opened her mouth to answer but Trey cut her off.

"I planned a party on this yacht that I rented. You can invite all of your friends, baby," Trey said as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"A yacht? Did you hear that Lani? A yacht!" Demi exaggerated as Lani smiled because she didn't want to ruin Demi's day.

"I was hoping we could spend some time together, just the two of us, before the party," Trey said into her ear as Demi absentmindedly nodded.

"But Lani and I were going to go to the beach and stuff..." Demi trailed off but Lani shook her head. She already knew that this was a battle that she was going to lose.

"It's fine. I'll um, I'll hang with the girls and you can tell us where the party is and we'll meet you there," Lani suggested with a shrug as Demi pouted, moving away from Trey's embrace to hug her best friend.

"Thank you for my breakfast," Demi said as Lani rolled her eyes.

"Whatever, princess. I'll see you later," Lani teased before going back to her room.

"Um, I just have to brush my teeth and stuff then we can go," Demi said, taking Trey's hand and leading him back to her room.

"Demi, don't take forever," Trey demanded as Demi rolled her eyes.

"Whatever, Trey. I'll come out when I come out." She kissed him again before going into the bathroom that was connected to her room as Trey relaxed on her bed, already planning on taking a nap because he knew that Demi was about to take forever to get ready.

@treysongz: she compliments my swag
@ddluckyc commented on your post: omg TREMAINE this blurry ass pic 🤦🏻‍♀️

The yacht that Trey had rented for her birthday party was absolutely humongous. It was pretty much a floating mansion. Everything was gold and cream and sleek, and the whole thing was so beautiful that Demi didn't even want to touch anything. Trey had her pack a bag in the new Louis Vuitton duffle that he had bought for her on their shopping trip because he said either they would spend the night on the yacht or at his place.

By the time they made it to the yacht, the party was in full swing. Trey had taken her to the spa to get her hair, nails, and feet done. Then they went shopping on Melrose where he bought her this obnoxious diamond watch that matched his, a few rings, and the Cartier love bracelets that she had only fantasized about having. Next they went shopping for clothes and shoes. They went back to his place where he had a makeup artist help her get ready and then they were off.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEMI!" She was startled out of her thoughts by the crowd of party goers who were crowded on the dance floor singing her happy birthday. Demi recognized a few people but she didn't know a majority of the people there. She still smiled and offered them a wave from the balcony before Trey wrapped one his arms around her waist and led her away from the balcony.

"I think I'm gonna try and find Lani," Demi whispered to Trey, but he tightened his grip on her waist.

"Wait, lets do a toast first," Trey said, grabbing the same bottle of champagne that he had ordered for her at the club out of a bucket of ice before popping it open, causing it to fizz out all over his hands. Demi giggled as she grabbed two flutes for them and he poured the champagne until the flutes were halfway filled. He set the bottle down and Demi handed one to him before he led her out to the other side of the balcony, the side that faced the ocean. Demi leaned against him as he wrapped his free arm around her waist and kissed the top of her head.

"Should I toast to us or would that be jinxing it?" Trey asked as Demi giggled.

"I don't know. Lani is the spiritual one," she chuckled as she stood up straight.

"Well, then here's a toast to my lucky charm because you came into my life right when I needed you, and it's been so much better ever since you did," Trey said as Demi awed then pecked his cheek.

"To me," she giggled, clinking their glasses against each other before they both finished off their champagne.

"Didn't I tell you that thousand dollar champagne tastes so much better?" Trey teased as Demi playfully rolled her eyes.

"It all tastes the same to me."

"Whatever. You won't be saying that by the end of the night..."

Demi almost said those words again, but instead she kissed him again before taking his empty flute.

"I'm gonna go mingle and try to find Lani. I'll see you in a few," Demi said before heading back inside. She placed the flutes on a tray held by a passing waiter before tugging her Balmain dress down as she made her way down the stairs. People greeted her as she made her way through the crowd but she honestly had no idea who they were.

"DEMI!" Demi turned and saw Lani headed their way with some of their friends from school. Demi greeted them all before looping her arm around Lani's so that they could go back up to VIP.

"Bitch, are you wearing a custom Balmain?"

"Yes, Trey completely surprised me. And you'll never guess who was there when we went to pick the dress up."

"Who?"

"Kim freaking Kardashian. She was getting fitted for a dress. She told me that she loved the color of my hair. My life is made," Demi gushed as Lani laughed.

"So, the hundred bouquets of roses, the shopping spree, and your fucking diamond encrusted wrist didn't make your life but Kim Kardashian giving you a random ass compliment did?" Lani joked as Demi lightly slapped her arm.

"Yes, you annoying ass bitch. Let's get some drinks. Trey has this expensive ass champagne going around," Demi said, leading Lani towards the private bar and quickly ordering for both of them before turning back around, only to see Drake standing there.

"Aubrey!" Demi squealed, letting him embrace her in a hug before they both pulled away.

"You're lucky you're cool people. Nobody except my moms calls me that," Drake said with a bit of an eye roll, but it was quickly replaced by his cute smile.

Demi met him a few months ago when Trey took her to an award show after party. Then he was with Trey in the studio so Demi saw him a few times after that.

"Thank you for coming!" Demi said as Lani passed her her drink.

"Couldn't miss your birthday. I got a gift from Weezy for you. Maybe if your boyfriend isn't looking we can sneak a dance later," Drake suggested as Demi laughed because they both knew that wasn't going to happen.

"Are you trying to get her ass beat?" Lani asked, half joking and half serious. Demi picked up on her tone so she furrowed her eyebrows but she didn't say anything.

"I'm gonna head downstairs but I'll catch you guys later," Drake said, wrapping Demi up in one more hug before walking away.

"What did you mean by-" Demi didn't even get to finish her question because Trey embraced her from behind.

"You ready to blow out your candles?" Trey asked as Demi eagerly nodded. Trey grabbed her hand so she quickly grabbed Lani's and they went downstairs where a giant cake was waiting for her. It wasn't anything too extravagant and there were exactly 21 candles all waiting for her to blow out.

The crowd launched into a horribly off tune version of happy birthday all over again, and even though Demi didn't know most of them, she had her best friend and her boyfriend right by her side, and that was the only thing that mattered.

"Make a wish!" Lani exclaimed. Demi closed her eyes then moved her hair off of her shoulders before blowing out the candles. She didn't know what to wish for because she already had absolutely everything that she wanted.
