Satomi P.O.V.
"Let's start off by introducing ourselves," our silver-haired sensei suggests, gazing lazily at us as he leans against the railing. Sakura and Naruto were still highly annoyed by his late arrival, grumbling at his statement.
"Sensei? Maybe you should go first... you're kind of a mystery to us," Sakura adds. From beside her, Naruto nods his head vigorously in agreement. The jounin sighs, closing his visible eye in annoyance before slightly straightening himself up.
"My name is Kakashi Hatake. Thins I like and things I hate...? I don't feel like telling you that. My dreams for the future? Never really thought about it. As for my hobbies... I have lots of hobbies," Kakashi-sensei vaguely explains. I resist the urge to facepalm at his awful introduction, listening to Sakura and Naruto complain to each other about Kakashi-sensei.
"Next, we'll go with the blonde one," Kakashi-sensei says, pointing at Naruto.
"I'm Naruto Uzumaki! I like instant ramen in a cup, and I really like the ramen Iruka-sensei got me at the Ichiraku noodle shop, but I hate the three minutes you have to wait to pour the hot water in the ramen cup. My hobby is eating and comparing different ramen, and my dream is to be the greatest Hokage! Then the whole village will stop disrespecting me and will start treating me like I'm somebody... somebody important!" Naruto exclaims.
"Alright. You next," Kakashi-sensei states, pointing at Sakura with no emotion.
"I'm Sakura Haruno! What I like... well I mean the person I like is... uh..." Sakura starts, glancing at my brother every so often. I think we get the hint.
"Uh... uh, my hobby is, uh..." she continues, unable to create formal sentences. Seeing Sasuke's expression shift uncomfortably was highly amusing, though.
"My dream for the future is...!" she finishes, squealing to herself. I smile to myself, glancing in Sakura's direction. Perhaps Sakura would be able to help change Sasuke.
"And what do you hate?" Kakashi-sensei asks calmly. She scowls and points a finger at Naruto accusingly.
"Naruto!" she shouts, causing Naruto to deflate. I think someone has a crush...
"Okay. Next, we'll go with him," Kakashi-sensei says, ignoring Sakura's short speech about Sasuke.
"My name... is Sasuke Uchiha. I hate a lot of things, and I don't particularly like anything. What I have is not a dream... because I will make it a reality. I'm going to restore my clan... and destroy a certain someone," Sasuke announces from beside me. You could feel the tension in the air from his statements, making me frown at him disapprovingly.
"Okay then. Finally, it's your turn," Kakashi-sensei states, pointing towards me. I smile to try to ease the tension, straightening out my back.
"My name is Satomi Uchiha. I like reading and writing, and I dabble in a bit of cooking. I love my brothers a lot, as well. I don't necessarily hate anything, although some things do get on my nerves occasionally. As a hobby I train on the training grounds I went with my old sensei, and my dream for the future..." I say gently, gazing at my emotionless brother beside me.
"My dream for the future is to protect the things I love," I whisper, although I know everyone heard me say it. Kakashi-sensei once again has no reaction, merely staring at us indifferently.
"Alright, you're all very... unique individuals. Our first mission will be tomorrow at training grounds 7," Kakashi-sensei informs lazily. Naruto grins brightly, waving his hand in the air.
"Sensei! What will we be doing tomorrow, huh? Something super cool?!" Naruto exclaims excitedly. Kakashi-sensei chuckles darkly, lowering his head to shadow his face.
"I guess you could say that..." he drawls on. Sakura tilts her head in confusion, her brows furrowed.
"What do you mean, sensei?" she asks. Kakashi-sensei chuckles, raising his head. His visible eye glints dangerously in the sun, making me frown.
"You're not gonna like it... but of the 28 graduates, only 9-10 will continue being genin. The others will have to go back to the academy," Kakashi-sensei reveals. Sakura and Naruto gasp, while Sasuke and I tense up.
"Well, what was the graduation exam for, then?!" Naruto screeches infuriated. Kakashi-sensei stares at him as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"It was weed out those who wouldn't make it as shinobi. The lost causes," he says. Naruto scoffs and crosses his arms defiantly.
"Anyways, meet me at the training grounds 7 at 5 A.M. Oh, and don't eat breakfast, or you'll puke," Kakashi-sensei chirps, smiling at us underneath his mask and poofing away without a trace. The four of us are left sitting on the roof, surprise apparent on all of our faces.
Finally, Sasuke gets up and begins to walk away, to which Naruto and Sakura follow suit. I stay sitting and gaze at the sky, sighing.
"Ne, Sasuke-kun, do you wanna go out for lunch?" Sakura asks Sasuke with a blush. He turns away from her, walking away uncaringly.
"No. I'm going to train," he states with finality, giving me a look. I nod to him, an unspoken agreement between us. He was going to his usual training grounds.
"Sakura-chan! I'll get lunch with you!" Naruto offers brightly, hope shining in his bright eyes. Sakura scoffs at him, turning away and crossing her arms.
"Ew, no way! I'm going home!" she declares, stomping out of sight. Naruto drops his head in disappointment, making me frown to myself.
"I'll go out to lunch with you, Naruto-kun," I offer lightly. Naruto's head snaps to the side, staring at me with thankful awe.
"You will, Satomi-chan?!" he cheers excitedly. I get up from my seat, stretching my arms out with a content sigh. Tilting my head towards him, I smirk.
"Why wouldn't I? We are friends, after all," I shrug, leading Naruto off of the roof and towards the streets. He trails after me, the smile never leaving his face. It's hard to believe that people hate such an upbeat kid.
"Let's go to Ichiraku Ramen, Satomi-chan! Their food is really good!" Naruto suggests enthusiastically, grabbing my hand and dragging me towards his favorite ramen shop. We pass many villagers who scowl or glare in our direction. Naruto seems to ignore their ignorant stares expertly.
Approaching a small ramen shop, I read the words 'Ichiraku Ramen' on the sign. The place doesn't look like anything special... but looks can be deceiving.
"Teuchi-san! Ayame-san! I brought someone new with me today!" Naruto exclaims upon entering the shop. I trail behind shyly, surprised at the familiarity between Naruto and the shop owners.
"That's lovely, Naruto! Great job bringing business in," the man, who I assume is Teuchi, greets with a friendly smile. I bow to him and Ayame politely taking my seat next to Naruto.
"So, what will it be, you two?" Teuchi asks whilst cleaning a dish. Naruto scratches his chin in thought before raising a finger in the air.
"I'll have the miso ramen! And Satomi wants..." Naruto says, looking towards me.
"Spicy pork ramen, please," I ask. Teuchi puts down the dish he was washing and picks up a pair of chopsticks.
"Coming right up!" he exclaims, getting to work on our food with Ayame. Naruto glances at me every so often, a giddy expression on his face. I raise an eyebrow at him, making him chuckle nervously and rub the back of his head apologetically.
"Sorry if I'm acting weird, Satomi-chan. I'm not used to going out with friends," Naruto apologizes. I shake my head at him and offer a small smile.
"I should be the one apologizing, Naruto-kun. I haven't been out with anyone other than my brother in years," I reveal solemnly. Naruto tilts his head, a curious glint in his eyes.
"You said during your introduction that you used to train with your old sensei at the training grounds near your house. Do you not train with him anymore?" he asks. My smile falters into a wistful frown, making Naruto's expression fall as well.
"We don't train together, anymore. It's not that he doesn't want to train with me... it's that he can't. My old sensei died 4 years ago. He was more than a sensei... I thought of him like he was one of my brothers," I explain softly. Naruto glances at his hands sorrowfully.
"I'm sorry, Satomi-chan. Also... did you say brothers? As in more than just Sasuke?" Naruto asks. I sigh gently, looking away from his eyes.
"Yeah... as you know, Sasuke is my twin brother. I also have an older brother, although he isn't in the village anymore and Sasuke hates him. I understand why... I just couldn't possibly hate him. I wanted to for a long time... but I finally accepted the fact that there will always be a place in my heart for him," I say.
"Here you two go! Enjoy!" Teuchi exclaims, placing bowls in front of Naruto and I. The two of us break our chopsticks and mutter out a quick 'itadakimasu' before digging into our meals. The ramen was delicious... I see why Naruto likes it here so much.
"I understand that, Satomi-chan. You know, you're way more personable and nicer than I thought! You're pretty quiet, so I figured you were an arrogant ass like your brother, even if you did say we were friends," Naruto admits sheepishly. I chuckle at his assumptions in amusement.
"I know what you mean. I'm a very soft-spoken person, but people take it as arrogance. The difference between Sasuke and I is that he is genuinely arrogant, while I am just... misjudged," I explain. Naruto nods and slurps up a bunch of noodles.
"You're definitely way more humble than Sasuke-teme," Naruto comments. I grin and laugh at his insult. I love my brother more than anything else in the world... but everything that Naruto is saying is right. He is arrogant and he can be an asshole... but once you get to know him he is an enjoyable person to be around.
"I bet you'll grow to like him. He may be a jerk most of the time... but that's just him. I have a feeling you can get past his bad quirks and see who he really is," I say, finishing my bowl of ramen. Dropping down from the stool, I place some money on the counter and face Naruto.
"I've got to get going, but thanks for coming out with me. I had fun," I say, "See you tomorrow, Naruto-kun."
Naruto waves after me, an effortless smile breaking out on his face. That kid sure does have a way of crawling his way into your heart, even after a short amount of time. A smile graces my lips, my head held high for the first time in a while as I maneuver through the bustling streets of Konoha.
Naruto truly makes you feel like a real person.
