Robbie’s POV

“It’s always something with me and you,” I shook my head at the crazy girl.

“Oh sorry,” she snapped back. “I keep forgetting I can’t have feelings,” she screamed as she threw her shoe at me.

I blinked the flash back away and focused on Poppy.

“Are you sure you want to go back there?” she said softly. “I mean you have Iris now,” she looked at me.

“I...” I sighed. “I just need to go back,” I said. “I need to do some things there, you know to finally move on,” I shrugged.

“I think I understand,” she sighed as a knock came at the door.

“Come in,” I sighed sinking down in my chair.

“Hey man,” Alex said shutting the door. Alex was tall and muscular with black hair and grey eyes. “What did you call me for?” he asked as his arm snaked around Poppy’s waist. “hey sweetie,” he kissed her temple.

“Hey baby,” she smiled giving him a peck on the lips.

I sighed deep I wish I could have what they have. “I need to go to Venice,” I said, Alex froze.

“Man,” he shook his head. “You won’t find her,” he said. “Anyway you have that other chick, the one you picked at the Unmated Ball,” Alex looked at Poppy.

“Iris,” Poppy said.

“Yeah Iris,” he nodded. “The girl with the freaky eyes,” Alex looked at me.

“Her eyes aren’t freaky,” I growled. “And yes I do have Iris,” I snapped. “I just need to do a few things, okay?” I barked. “I am the Prince here I don’t need your permission to go anywhere!”

“Okay dude,” chuckled Alex. “Chill, we’re just trying to do the best for you,” he put his hands up in mock surrender.

“Sorry,” I muttered. “I am going tomorrow and you,” I pointed at Alex. “Are coming with me,” and then I pointed at Poppy. “And you’re going with Iris,” Alex nodded.

“What?” Poppy said. “Where is Iris going?” She asked.

“To her old pack,” I sighed.

Poppy frowned. “But she a Phoenix so she doesn’t have a pack?” she said.

“She’s the only Phoenix,” I corrected. “and she was brought up by werewolves, the Iron wolf pack,” I saw her shiver.

“They are a heartless pack,” she muttered. “Poor girl,” she looked up. “I’ll go,”

“Good,” I smirked. “Because I wasn’t asking,” she glared.

“Let’s go,” Alex told me. “And remember to pack that guitar of yours,” Alex chuckled. “I haven’t heard you play it since that bitch,” I smiled.

I ran up the stairs two at a time and found myself outside of Iris’s door.

I knocked. “Yeah,” her soft and light voice sounded through the closed door.

“It’s me,” I said back and the door opened to her smiling face.

“Robbie,” she grinned and I couldn’t stop myself. I kissed her, her soft lips like velvet as they moved with mine. I felt a smile spread across her face as her arms wrapped around my neck, pulling me closer. I felt the heat radiating off her like every time I stood next to her.  Gripped her waist tight and ran my tongue across her pump bottom lip.

“Put her down” a chuckle broke us apart.

I turned and glared. “Eliza,” I muttered as Iris pushed me away from her blushing scarlet but I pulled her back to my side.

“Oh Robbie,” she pouted. “Don’t sulk,” she giggled. “I see you and Iris are getting closer,” she laughed as Iris blushed again.

“Yeah,” I glared. “And now if you would just go away so we can be closer again,” I pushed us into the room and shut the door. I heard the chuckle before the retreating footsteps, she did that on purpose.

“Robbie,” Iris scolded pulling away from me.

“What,” I grinned catching her wrist and pulling her flush against my chest. She blushed as red as a rose and I smiled down at her.

“You shouldn’t be so rude,” she playfully slapped my chest.

“I have to go soon,” her smile dropped a little. “So I wanted to spend as much time with you as I could,” she smiled at that.

“When are you leaving?” she asked.

“Soon,” I stroked her check as they flamed red again. “I love seeing you blush,” and again her checks turned ruby red.

“Why?” she asked. “It’s just blood rushing to the surface of the skin,” she explained and I smiled.

“You look cute,” I smirked as her cheeks flashed red again. “Iris, I am sorry I have to go,” I said.

“Its fine” she smiled. “You can’t always be around me,” she gave a small chuckle.

“I know,” I sighed. “But I want to,” she blushed again.

A knock came at the door. “Robbie Mate,” Alex’s voice sounded through the door. “We have to go in less than an hour.” He shouted.

“Alright I am coming,” I sighed before turning back to Iris. “I’m gonna miss you” I gazed her lips.

“I’ll miss you too,” she smiled pulling out of my arms. “Now go,” she giggled. “Before you are late,” she pushed me out of her room.

I chuckled getting pushed into Alex. “Hey,” I grinned as I turned around to face Iris. “Don’t I get a goodbye kiss?”

He eyes flickered to Alex and then back to my grinning face. “No,” she laughed crossing her arms over her chest.

“Iris,” I put my hands over my heart. “I think you just broke my heart,” she raised an eyebrow.

“Good, now go pack,” she giggled closing her door.

“Wow,” Alex chuckled. “You have it bad,” he commented before disappearing.

In less than an hour I was back at her door.

“Iris,” I knocked. “I’m going,” I sighed.

The door opened and before I knew what was happening I had dropped my bags and was now holding Iris, her soft lips against mine. I smiled against them clutching her small waist. She pulled back with a blush.

“That was a nice goodbye,” I chuckled as she faced the floor. “I better have a hello like that too,” I cupped her burning cheeks pulling her up to face me. “I’ll see you in a few days,” I pecked her lips.

“See you,” she gave a small smile as I pulled away.

“Come on Robbie,” Alex shouted up at me as I made my way down the stairs.

Soon I and Alex found ourselves in dusty old Venice. Somewhere I thought last year that I would never see again and a few years before that somewhere that I would never leave.

“So now that we’re back,” Alex said. “Where are we staying?” Alex shifted his bag on his shoulder.

“My place,” I muttered gazing over the cobbled streets that run along the canal and the ivy that wrapped around some of the houses. The sun blazed above and people walked the streets and couples kissed on the boats. I sighed.

“What do you mean your place?” Alex asked as he followed me down the narrow street.

“I have a house just down here,” I said remembering.

“Where are we going,” Aletta chuckled in her tick accent, my hands covering her beautiful eyes. “Robbie,” she giggled as she stumbled along the narrow street.

“We’re nearly here,” I whispered softly in her eye grazing my lips against it as I did. I stopped her in front of a sand coloured brick house with high arching windows and a balcony overlooking the canal. “You can open your eyes now,” I said taking my hands away.

“What am I looking at Robbie?” she smiled.

“Our house,”

“What really?” she threw her arms around me.

“It is this one,” I flicked through my keys looking for the rusty old one. The outside of the house hadn’t changed in the past year apart from the dusty yellow colour of the bricks had been bleached more by the hot sun and the flowers that grew in the hanging basket had all but died.

“Is this where...” Alex trailed off as I shoved the key in the arching wooden door. It always stuck I though as I leaned against it

“Oh Robbie,” Aletta chuckled. “You always puck the places in Venice where the doors don’t work,” she giggled kissing my cheek as I struggled with the lock.

I shook my head giving the door a final twist and hearing the familiar click. “Yeah it is,” I muttered making my way into the dusty hallway. I gazed over the picture filled hallway, Aletta’s face smiling down at me.

“I don’t think we should stay here,” Alex commented looking at the pictures.

“Why?” I shrugged.

“Because this place in swimming with your almost ex-wife,” Alex said following me into yellow painted kitchen at the end of the hallway. That was the first place I always went to because that was always where I found Aletta, her chocolate curls tied into a messy bun as she stirred pans on the old hob, her laughter filling the air as I kissed her temple.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath of old air. The house hadn’t had visitors since I left.  “It is fine,” I muttered plugging the kettle back in and filling it with water before putting it on.

“No mate it’s not,” Alex shook his head. “You have Iris, so why are you coming back here?”

“Because I have some unfinished business here that’s why!” I snapped. “Remember who I am Alexander,” I bite back a growl.

“And Robert remember who I am,” Alex barked back. “I was the one who stopped you jumping if you remember,” he growled. “Now if you don’t mine where is my room?”

I sighed shaking that time from my head. “I am sorry Alex,” I sighed.

“Its fine Robbie,” Alex sighed.

“This place always put me in a bad mood,” I sighed. “tea?”

“Yeah,” Alex nodded as I grabbed two mugs from the cupboard. “If it always puts you in a bad mood, then why have you come back?” Alex dumped his bags down and sat at the small table. The kitchen was tiny and could only fit a small table for two, a candle sat in the middle with a dead red rose in a vase.

“I know what you’re thinking,” I sat the mugs down before taking a seat opposite him. “You think I am here to Aletta,” he nodded as I took a sip of my drink. “I’m not,” I said.

“Then why?” he asked.

“Well, I have many reasons for coming back for example,” I paused. “I loved Venice and I want to love it again, I want to take Iris here and show her the beauty of the city,” I said with a small smile.

“So why come on your own then?”

“I am not,”

“You know that I mean,” Alex rolled his eyes.

“Yeah I do,” I laughed. “Because I needed to get over my fear of this place,” I shrugged.

“Right, so what are the other reasons?”

“I need to sell this place,” I said.

“You can do that back home,”

“Nope,” I sipped my tea. “I need to pack all my stuff up,” I said. “And hers,” I muttered the last part.

“What,” Alex eyes widened. “Her stuff is still here?”

“Yeah she ran away remember,” I rolled my eyes. “She only took a few things and left everything else here,”

“Oh god,” Alex shook his head. “This was such a bad idea,”

“It has been a year,” I said. “I still pay rent on this place,”

“Why?”

“Because...” I stopped. “Because I thought she still might be living here,”

“So you were still willing to pay for that slut?”

I growled. “Just because she left me doesn’t mean you can bad mouth her,” I barked. “She was still my mate at the end of the day and second I couldn’t bring myself to have her on the streets,”

“Even after what she did to you?”

“Yeah even after everything,” I shrugged.

“You’re a stupid fuck with a good heart,” Alex chuckled. “So what if she still was living here, what would you have done?”

“Begged for her back,”

“WHAT!” Alex roared standing up as I burst out laughing.

“What do you think I would have done?” I laughed at Alex’s red face. “I would have told her to go fuck herself and get out” I laughed.

“Don’t do that,” Alex sank back down.

“Come one,” I shook my head. “Iris is way better than Aletta,”

“I agree with that,” Alex nodded. “Anyway come on,” he stood up. “I wanna hear you play again,” I chuckled as we both grabbed out guitars and headed into the living room.

I picked up my old wooden friend and smiled. I had missed this as I began to play my favourite song right now.  The words started forming in my head and I couldn’t help but voice them.

“You've got secrets, oh yeah, and I've got a weakness for them.” I sang. “No this ain't the time or place to show your face,” I smiled as I let my fingers work the metal strings.

Alex soon joined in with a massive grin on his face. “I love this song,” he commented before singing. “Cause you know that I can't stand,” He sang. “The need to get even tonight,” we sang together.

“When everything ya say won't come out right. So I'll try to save some face, and take my space, till the times right, cause we'll need it,” we belted it out as we played our guitars.

This was the first time in Venice since Aletta left me that I felt happy and I couldn’t wait to bring Iris here one day. I smiled waiting for that time.
