sleep in the heat - PUP
i ran into the hall, tears spilling from my eyes as i locked myself in the janitor's closet. i put my head in my hands as i cried away the anger that lived in me for nine months. someone knocked gently at the door.
five. two. one. mike's knock. he used to knock that on my bedroom door. how much can change in the matter of months.
"go away!" i screamed hoarsely, turning my back to the door. a sigh came from the other side of the door.
"elle, unlock the door. we need to talk." he demanded.
"no we don't! you kissed another girl, and even worse, the one your very best friend was interested in! how low is that?!" I screamed, unlocking the door and throwing it open. mike stood there, his curly hair covering his dark brown eyes.
"elle, this is why we need to talk. jay gave me a drink that had something in it. my body was frozen, and jay just planted her lips on mine. please elle, you have to believe me!" mike begged, pushing his lucious locks back from his eyes.
"she...drugged you?" i asked, letting my crossed arms drop.
"yes, she did. i'm so sorry I cause you so much pain..." a single tear fell down his freckled cheek. my heart broke for him.
"don't cry mikey..." i whispered, wiping his tear off his cheek with my thumb. mike leaned his head in my hand. "can i...?" i wrapped my arms around mike's neck. mike moved close and kissed me passionately. i smiled, kissing back."
oh fudge, i sure did miss this.
someone screamed behind us, making us break apart. mike stood in front of me, his arm extended out over the doorway. max and dustin stood there, max's mouth open and dustin's face was beet red.
"what the fuck?!" dustin screamed, storming over to us. "you think you can just kiss the girl i like, dump her, and then kiss my best friend WHO YOU BROKE UP WITH?!" he raged, punching mike in the stomach.
"DUSTIN!" i screamed as mike crumbled to the ground from pain. i knelt next to mike, pressing my hand to mike's cheek. "mike, mike!" i cried, making mike laugh.
"babe, i'm good." he laughed/groaned. i turned to dustin.
"you asshole! jay drugged him, and he told me! then, i kissed him." i growled, standing up and helping mike.
"shit...i'm sorry both of you." dustin bit his lip. i smacked his arm as max walked over.
"always knew you'd get back together." she smiled, them slapped dustin. "idiot." i nuzzled my head into mike's chest, enjoying his comforting presence. he wrapped his arms around me. a camera clicked, and we looked over to see max holding her phone. "oops?"
"just send it to me." i murmured, taking my phone out. before i could fully take it out, it clattered to the ground. "oh poo!" i yelped. the case had fallen off, revealing the note i put in there. dustin bent down and picked up the note.
"what's this?" he asked, making me bite my tongue. his eyes scanned the paper quickly, his jaw dropping in surprise. "elle, what is this?" he murmured as max snatched the paper out of his hands. mike looked down at me.
"baby girl, what's that?" he took the wrinkled piece of paper out of max's hands. he quickly read the paper, and at the end it fluttered to the ground.
"who wrote this?" he asked in a stern voice, putting his hands on my shoulders.
"i-i don't..." i stuttered, and i looked at his dark brown eyes.
"my love, did you get anymore?" he cooed, bending down so we were eye level.
"yes...this one, and another...it said twizzlers are your favorite, and they were your favorite too...but i guess they just stopped after prom..." i told mike, who nodded.
"we'll find this son of a bitch baby girl, i don't want a hair on your head hurt." he kissed my head gently, pulling me into his chest. i heard whispering, and the quiet sound of the door shutting. after, i heard happy cheering and something along the lines of 'HOLY FUCK OTP'.
my friends are awesome. i love them so much.
"let's go someplace we haven't in a while, i wanna show you what i did." mike told me, grabbing my hand (after giving me my phone) and pulling me out the back doors. he broke out into a sprint, his curls being pushed back by the wind.
"slow down speed demon!" i giggled as he pulled me along the worn path. we finally arrived at lover's lane, mike sitting on the grass and me sitting on his lap.
"god, you don't even know how much I missed you baby girl. life isn't worth it without you by my side." he mumbled into my ear. i turned cherry red.
"are you asking me to be your girlfriend mike?" i bit my lip, waiting for his response. mike nodded, watching my lips curve in a smile. "i love you a lot." i admitted, tracing designs on his arm.
"trust me baby girl, i love you even more." he kissed below my ear, making me shiver. "now we need to talk about those notes." he frowned, putting his head on my shoulder.
"i think it's eddie, and he might still be in love with you." i confessed. mike shook his head.
"no, it can't be him, eddie's head over heals for your brother. maybe it's sierra." he pondered, tapping his chin. i pretended to know who she was. "it doesn't matter right now, cause you're here and I can show you what i did." mike smiled proudly as he took out his phone and pulled up photos.
"what's this mikey?" i asked, watching the video of him singing and strumming the guitar.
"i wrote a song about you bubba." he pecked my nose. i blushed and took a picture of mike.
