It had been a week since I had found Betty crying the bathroom. We both finally picked a date to meet up. She said she wanted to tell me a lot so we picked a more private place than Pops which I thought was weird. I told her that my house was sound proof so we both decided that it would be best to come to my house. I heard a knock on my door and it was Betty.
I opened up the door and sure enough, it was Betty. "Hey Betty! Let's go into my room." I said greeting her with a hug. "Alright." Betty said, "I have a few things you deserve to know." Her face went from a smile to a really serious look. "I'm ready." I said. She took a deep breath and I sat close next to her. "Never mind. I'm not ready to tell anyone." She said tears filling in her eyes.
I wondered what she wanted to tell me. I didn't want to force anything from her but I wanted to help her. "Betty just take it slow. Tell me, you will be ok. I love you B, I will protect you like a hawk." I told her, trying to comfort her. She nodded her head saying, "well there is a lot of drama in my life. A lot of it gets really deep so I'll save that story for later, maybe in a few months when it becomes more relevant. But to start off, I'm wanting to tell you why I've been acting weird. You're always supporting me a being a great friend and you should know what I'm about to tell you." I took all her words to heart. I was trying to be a good friend and it felt nice to be recognized.
Betty grabbed my hand and said "I'm practically abused at home. My parents yell at me and even hit me. At first that made me sad, but then other drama happened. But like I said. I'm not ready to talk about it." I felt sorry for her. If her parents abused her was the best thing she had to say what else as going on? "I'm so sorry Betty. If you ever need to talk to me or anything let me know. I'm here for you ok?" I said to her. She smiled and responded "I know Veronica. You'll always be here for me. That's why i trust you with this." I nodded my head.
After she told me that, we both just hung out gossiping over silly drama. It as like things used to be. Me and Betty laughing so hard that we almost cried sitting on the edge of the bed. It felt nice to have that same bond with Betty again. I felt so happy to be her best friend, a person she could trust. I just hoped there was nothing more that was really serious that she needed to talk about. I pushed it aside realizing she has jughead to talk to, and Jughead would help her out. I was just happy to be apart of Betty's life.
