10 Years Later, Christmas Day

Burr's POV

Everyone was gathered in Eliza's and Alex's house, seeing that it was the biggest.

Everyone.

Theo Burr, Thomas Jefferson, Patsy Jefferson (Soon to be Jefferson-Laurens), Jack Laurens, Peggy, Lafayette, Pierre, Natasha, Pascal, Fia...

Burr shook his head. He couldn't remember who anyone was. He only could remember the parents. This was the first time he was coming to one of these 'family' events, thought Theo attended all the time.

This year, he was family, and he was forced to attend.

He started to make a mental list of all the kids.

Patsy Jefferson: Thomas' adopted kid, engaged to Jack Laurens, 26 years old

James Jefferson: Engaged to Angel at 22, son of Thomas

Angel Laurens-Jefferson: One of the prettiest Laurens, dated James Jefferson for the longest time, already engaged at 22 years old, Angie's daughter

Jack Laurens: Engaged to Patsy, son of Angie and John, 26 years old

Pierre Lafayette: Peggy's kid, dating Natasha, messy hair like his dad, 18 years old

Pascal Lafayette: Laf's kid, the youngest, only 13

Natasha Mulligan: Dating Pierre, daughter of Herc and Maria, 18 years old

Fiona Mulligan (Fia): Daughter of Herc and Maria, besties with Angie, 19 years old

Theo Burr-Hamilton: Obviously, his daughter, and was actually married to Philip, 26 years old

Philip Hamilton: Burr's.... son-in-law, Eliza's son, 26 years old

Angelica Hamilton: Hyperactive, best friends with Fia now that Theo was married, 24 years old (Engaged? Married? Dating? A guy named Rich something)

John and William Hamilton: Twins, no one could tell them apart except family and Fia, sons of Eliza, 19 years old. Fia was dating William

Connor Hamilton: The calmest out of everyone, son of Alex, 18 years old

And of course, to make things worse, the Laurens family was coming too.

Aurora Laurens-Schuyler.... Something. She was - Burr stopped to think - John's sister, who had married Angie's half-brother.... Which was Philip Schuyler.

Holy.

This was complicated.

Aurora and Philip Schuyler (Not Philip Hamilton, Burr reminded himself), ran a daycare, and when the kids were younger, they often took them in as well. They'd had one kid; obviously, the kids in the daycare were enough for them. Now, Risti Schuyler was about 23, maybe? Risti was adopted from their daycare; she was Indian - the only diversity in their huge family besides French and American.

Audrey had followed in Alex's footsteps and become a nurse. They worked together a lot, and it was one of the most adorable sister-brother relationships ever. They were technically related - Audrey's sister married a half-Schuyler, Eliza was a Schuyler, Eliza married Hamilton.
Oh my god.

Kill me now.

Don't make me go to this party.

Jake and James, the twins, had gone into the show business. They were in a lot of plays, most recently starring in Miranda, as they played Daveed Diggs' two roles, confusing the audience further as they tried to determine if it was two people or one.

Burr reluctantly stopped at the Hamilton's white, huge house.

Theo had gone ahead with Philip, of course. The two were living in a cute house near their workplaces.

Holy shoot.

Burr was going to have to remember where everyone worked so that he could make small talk with them.

I hate people.

Patsy Jefferson: An architect, fit in with her creative aspiration, had designed Theo's house as a wedding gift

Angel Laurens-Jefferson: Had again and again been asked to be a model, but she wanted something more; she was now an actress in many famous films. Probably the most famous one out of them all

Jack Laurens: An architect like his wife; they had gone to the same college

Pierre Lafayette: Going to UC Santa Cruz

Pascal Lafayette: In middle school.. What would Burr say to him?

Natasha Mulligan: Going to Oakes College, near Pierre

Fiona Mulligan (Fia): In her second year of college at Princeton

Theo Burr-Hamilton: Film director; directed a lot of Angel's films

Philip Hamilton: Set constructor director; helped with Theo's films

Angelica Hamilton: Herc had talked to her privately, and she was in some kind of job, though no one knew what

John and William Hamilton: Unfortunately, the twins had been separated off to different colleges, WIlliam with Fia, and John at UC Santa Cruz with his best friend from birth, Pierre

Connor Hamilton: Going to Harvard, following in the footsteps of his sister

Burr groaned.
Too many people.

And now he had to remember the parents jobs as well.

Eliza's was easy; she was in the singing business, and had introduced Angel to that world. Eliza was now pretty famous, and was even more known for how high she could go. Burr had experienced that first-hand, and he still had nightmares from it. Eliza had also opened her own orphanage and used her money to help them.

Alex was... a doctor. He could've been anything he wanted, due to his amazing grades, but he decided to go on the route of helping people. This was a big shock to everyone except Eliza ("He was always a smol, cinnamon roll, we just didn't see it!").

Maria had become a teacher, much to the surprise of those who knew her. She was usually pretty fiery-tempered, but she was favorite at her school, and she helped out at Eliza's orphanage often. Once, she had even arranged a field-trip with her students to the orphanage so they could help out.

Herc had become... well, no one really knew what he did, because he just said he was a 'police officer'. But he was never seen wearing a police uniform, and whenever he was asked, Maria would just shake her head. Herc was super shady all the time, but no one ever questioned him.

Laf was a translator for a high-tech company that worked all around the world. He was paid super-well, even though all he seemed to do was 'whine, whine, whine all night', as Peggy put it fondly.

Peggy had become a software engineer for a company in France, which was only a shock because Peggy had always said she despised math. But she seemed to love her job, which kept everyone wondering what had happened to her.

Thomas was secretary of state for New York, which fit his political interests. He usually wasn't around, with being important and all, but Burr was sure that everyone was at this Christmas celebration.

John was, surprise, surprise, a marine biologist. He had often taken his kids and the other kids to his workplace when they were younger, so they could gasp at the multi-colored fish.

Angie was a playwright. She wrote all of Eliza's songs, so the sisters were as close as ever. Angie sometimes even sang, but she was convinced her voice was 'terrible' and 'should never be heard'.

Burr rang the doorbell nervously. He could already hear the screeches from inside.

Eliza opened the door, her radiant face lighting up.
"AARY!" She screamed, attracting the attention of everyone there. Of course, Eliza's screams were never normal.

Burr smiled weakly. "'Liza."

"EEEEEE! Come inside!" Eliza practically dragged him inside the house. He saw Theo smirking at him from above, hugging Philip with one hand.

Burr looked around.

Look around, gather intel.

Connor Hamilton raced past him, his entire face glowing. His usually calm demeanor had been replaced with joy as he ran with a friend. He nearly knocked Burr down, and then apologized profusely, taking time to talk like intellectuals before he was whisked away by Natasha.

I'm lucky to be alive right now, Burr thought, shaking his head.

It's common etiquette to greet everyone.

Everyone?

Everyone?

He started with the easiest one first.

"Hey, Philip, Theo," he muttered.

"Dad! You came!" Theo carefully hugged him, daintily extracting himself. Burr looked at her strangely. Usually her hugs were like football tackles.

"I wouldn't miss it," Burr lied.

Philip laughed. "We know you're lying, Aaron. But just so you won't be too surprised, we have something that will astonish and maybe worry you. We'll tell everyone at dinner."

Burr narrowed his eyes. "That sounds... "
"Go greet everyone else, Dad," Theo laughed.

Patsy and Jack were standing together, trying to wrap some presents. "It's not a bomb, Patsy, it's a gift," Jack chuckled. "You can handle it less delicately."
Patsy looked up as Burr came closer. "Mr. Burr!"

"Sir!" Jack added.

"Hello," Burr formally said.

"Don't be like that, you're family," Patsy rolled her eyes, hugging him.

Burr nodded. "Um, yeah."

Jack nodded at him.

Burr wandered away, sighing.

Four down.

Too many more to go.

Angie's POV

Angelica sighed fondly as she looked around the house. Sometimes, she had to admit, having this big of a family had its drawbacks - for example, right now. There were, what, fourteen kids - or young adults, whatever - in her family? And Aurora and Philip and their kid, Risti. So seventeen so far to get gifts for, and then Angelica had to include all of parents as well. She had arrived only a few minutes ago, so she decided to go meet everyone.

Patsy and Jack were throwing around a gift, testing what was inside it. Angelica stopped next to them, watching amusedly.

"I sometimes forget you're 26, you know, with how immature you are," Angelica told them, casually ruffling her son's hair. "I also forget that Patsy is my soon to be daughter-in-law." She sighed. "How times go by - it seems like just yesterday I was helping Jack figure out that he was 'in love' with Annabeth Chase, not Percy Jackson."

Patsy choked, while Jack blushed a deep red. "Mom! You can't tell people that!"

Angelica shrugged. "She's your fiance - you should be able to tell her anything."

Jack rolled his eyes, then kissed Patsy.

"Ew! Didn't need to see that!" Eliza glared at them. "My innocent eyes!"

Jack sighed. "Aunt 'Liza, you're more of a kid than I ever was."

Angelica laughed and hooked arms with Eliza before moving on to the next couple, James and Angel.

"Oh my gods!" Eliza squealed, going higher than usual.

Angelica started. "What now?"

"Look at all that beauty! They're like the prettiest couple ever!" Eliza whispered, gesturing wildly at James and Angel.
"Angel got her good genes from me," Angelica laughed, causing Angel to shake her head.

"We all know I'm the one exception in our family," Angel argued.

James shook his head, used to the good-natured bantering of the Laurens family. "The Laurens family is actually one of the prettiest families ever, though."
Angel blushed, even after about 10 years of these kind of compliments.

Angelica laughed. "You are a little angel, sometimes." She left Eliza gushing about how cute they were as the two turned red.

"Pierre, Natasha!" Angelica called. They turned towards her voice, their faces lighting up with smiles.

"I swear, your hair will be the death of Peggy," Angelica noted as she took in Pierre's wild frenzy that he called hair.

"It was dad's fault!" Pierre defended.

"But look at the difference between yours and Natasha's!" Angelica jokingly compared them. Natasha had a beautiful ombre that matched her sisters, and her hair was always soft and scented. While Pierre's hair was... Pierre's.
"Be good!" She called, chuckling as the kids made faces at her.

She stared at the chaos in the house.

Like that'll happen.

John's POV

John ducked as a cake flew over his head. He had no idea where it had come from, or why it was flying, but he decided not to question it. There were about twenty-four hyperactive people in here, and they were all somehow related to him.

This is the mess I call my family?

Despite himself, John smiled. His family consisted of a bunch of idiots, but it was still his family.

And he would have to go greet them all. He spotted Alex lurking behind a sofa.
"Alex!" John was about to tap him on the shoulder when Alex spun around and launched a cupcake right at his head.

"My. Hair."

Alex gaped, too shocked to say anything. "That - that was mean - meant - "

"This is war."

He launched himself on top of Alex with a war cry.
They tumbled around until they were side by side, staring at each other.

Years ago, in college, this would've been the subject of John's dreams. Now, it just seemed like the prime time to -

"ATTACK!"

John brought a quesadilla on Alex's face with a huge squelch.

Alex laughed. "Hey, remember that time when I was drunk and - "

Please don't say what I think you're going to say.

" - you kissed me?" Alex grinned.

John's mouth fell open. "Whoa - wait, no. No. You kissed me!" He yelled, trying to make it clear.

The entire room went silent.

Eliza and Angelica, the people they expected to be the most angry, were sniggering in the corner.

"Let's see them talk their way out of this," Eliza murmured to Angelica.

Jack stepped forward. "Dad."
Angie jumped on the couch in front of them. "Whoa, Dad."

"How cute is that?" Herc teased from the corner of the room.

John blushed. "It was in college!"

Alex put an arm around him. "That didn't stop you from kissing me, did it?"

John spluttered in outrage. "I DIDN'T KISS YOU! YOU WERE DRUNK!"

Eliza butted in. "I can totally ship this! In school, Angie and I wrote a gay fanfic, so I know how this works. First you deny you're gay - "

"I'm bi, actually."
"Yeah."

The kids stared at their parents. Burr looked at them confusedly. "Wait. You're married."

Angelica nodded. "Yeah?"
"And you're shipping each other?"

"Yes."

Burr sank into an armchair. "Okay."

John glared at Angelica. "You saw it! He kissed me!"

Angelica studied her nails. "Really?"

John stared at her in silent outrage. "Angie! You betrayed me!"

Angelica looked up innocently. "Me?"

John had an evil glint in his eye. "Did you guys know that Angelica here had a crush on Alex?"

Angelica's eyes nearly bugged out of her head.

"It was because he was hot! I knew him for a day and I liked him! It was just a weird school-girl thing!"

Alex smirked. "I'm getting all the girls... and guys."

Connor's eyes lit up. "Dad, are you bi?"

Alex shrugged. "Yeah, guess so."

Connor smiled at someone across the room. "Okay."

Laf shrugged. "I guess if we're all professing our love for Alex - "

Alex raised an eyebrow.

Laf fell down on the floor dramatically. "Alexander Hamilton! Marry me?"

That was too much for everyone. No one knew who started it, but suddenly a huge food fight broke out.

John took cover underneath a table.

It had to be a pretty extraordinary Christmas for food to fly.

oOo

Theo's POV

Theo had run for the nearest bathroom as soon as the food fight began, locking it and listening to the screams from her little safe haven. She couldn't have food hitting her, it could be unhealthy for her -

What?

Nothing.

She obviously just didn't want to get dirty.

When it had finally died down, she walked outside cautiously.

Everyone was sitting down, staring at the mess that used to be a living room. Pascal had taken advantage of the fight, being the artist he was. He had been stationed behind his easel and canvas the entire time, which protected him from food, but also stained the canvas in an interestingly enough aesthetic way. Pascal was the baby of the family - he was only 13, still in school, and everyone spoiled him to no end.

Fiona and Angie, the two peas in a pod, were whispering to each other. Theo smiled a little melancholy. Angie and her had been best friends for ages, until Theo had gone to college. Someone else; Richard Price, Angelica's boyfriend or fiance was also sitting there. He had black hair and a smirk that quickly told her that they were a good match; Angie had the exact same mischievous smirk.

Fia and William sat together, with John texted somebody furiously on his phone next to them. Fia was always really sweet to everyone, and her naturally pretty face made everyone feel better when she was in the room. William was a troublemaker, along with his twin, and it was best not to let them out of their sight. Ever.

Aurora and Philip Schuyler not Hamilton, were also there, sitting next to Angie and John. Aurora and Philip had brought along a kid from their daycare. Risti Schuyler, Aurora's and Philip's kid, was also there, along with Adhan, her fiance. They were holding the kid from the daycare.

Connor was sitting near them, his eyes wandering to the toddlers face every now and then.

And everyone was completely covered in cake.

Theo strolled outside, feeling smug. "How'd you guys enjoy that?"

Philip rolled his eyes at her. "It was actually quite fun. Why didn't you join? Chicken?" He started making stupid chicken noises.

Theo glanced at everyone. "You know perfectly well why. I guess if we're all assembled, now's a good time to tell you."

Burr's eyes narrowed, and Theo winked encouragingly at him.

"We're pregnant," Philip announced. "Well, Theo is, not me, because I can't get pregnant, and if I could, I wouldn't be pregnant with our baby because we wouldn't be able to have a baby so - "

Theo cut him off. "We're going to be parents!"

Eliza squealed. "Aww! That's great! Oh gods, that's amazing!" Then she paled. "Oh, no, no, no, no."
Alex caught her as she was swaying. "'Liza?"

"Philip. You're my kid." Eliza put her hands in the air like she was trying to connect dots.

Philip nodded slowly. "Right."

"So - so - so - I'm going to be a grandma?" Eliza nearly fainted.

Everyone nodded.

"But - but - but I'm only 48! Too early!" Eliza screeched. "DO I HAVE GREY HAIRS?"

Alex tried to calm her down while everyone turned to see Burr's reaction. He was completely still.

"Dad?" Theo asked tentatively.

Burr shook himself like he was coming out of a trance.

"Right. Uh, honey, don't you think this is a bit too - "

"No, dad. Aunty 'Liza got pregnant at 22!" Theo defended herself.

"Aunty 'Liza's not a very good role model," Burr muttered, looking at Eliza hyperventilating.

Philip put a hand on his wife's shoulder. "Well, Mom can be a little... yeah, but I think you're going to be a wonderful mother."

"And you are going to be a wonderful father," Theo smiled and kissed her husband.

"Okay, okay! Enough whatever that is," Pascal said, rather childishly. "I have some news of my own."

Pierre sniggered. "Sure you do, bro."

"I do!" Pascal insisted. "I got into that art institute that I was looking into."

There was a chorus of overlapping voices.

"That's great, sweetie!" Maria hugged the boy and Peggy grinned at her son as Laf patted him on the back.

"While we're all here," Connor started. "I have someone to introduce."

Connor took the toddler from Risti and Aadhan's hands. "This is Hope. Hope Cassidy Hamilton."

There was a short silence before Eliza shrieked again. "I'M ALREADY A GRANDMA?!"

The voices once again resumed as everyone congratulated Connor on his adoption. Angie, Hope's aunt, walked up to the child.

"Hi there!" Angie cooed. "I'm your auntie!"

"Angie, you sound like air supply," Connor laughed. "Hope Cassidy Hamilton. You like the name?"

"I like it better than Angelica Rachel Hamilton," Angie teased.

"Angie, you were named after your aunt and my mother and you should be grateful," Alex continued to ramble about how his mother had shaped his life for the better as Eliza hushed him.

"It seems our ever-growing family is growing faster everyday," John smiled warmly at his nephew and his daughter. "And it's all for the better. The new generation begins."

"This truly is the greatest city in the world," Angelica Schuyler-Laurens smiled.

"Right, but, what if we were living in, like, Connecticut, then that would be the greates - "

"John?"

"Yeah?"

"Shut up."

"Okay."

The Actual End

(Unless we do more oneshots)

- Angelica and Eliza

Our cast is insanely beautiful, for some reason?

This is the actual end; 3000 words for this chapter, somehow!

Approximately 60,000 words later, after blood, sweat, and tears (not really), Living In The Greatest City In The World is officially over!

We hope you guys enjoyed this book! We certainly loved writing it!
