January 16, 7:30 am. School Gym.
It is way too early to be at school. But that's how tryouts work. Cheer tryouts to be exact. To be honest, cheer wasn't Y/N's style. Well, sports, in general, wasn't her style at all. But because of one particular person, she was surprisingly convinced. The only reason she is doing this is that of her best friend, Mina.
While Y/N was busy "tying her shoes" instead of stretching, a familiar voice called out to her in confusion.
"Y/N?"
Recognizing that voice, Y/N lifted her head up and was indeed met with the person she had expected it to be. However, even if she had correctly guessed the person she still gave them a look of surprise.
"Jungkook? What are you doing here this early?"
Jungkook stood there in a hoodie and joggers, a bag slung over his shoulder. He raised a questioning eyebrow at her.
"I could ask you the same question" he replied with a chuckle.
Y/N gave a tired sigh before telling him the real reason she was at school this early.
"Ok, don't laugh. But I'm here to do cheer tryouts because of my best friend"
Anyone who hears the words "don't laugh" will automatically want to laugh. Jungkook's eyes slightly widened in surprise by her words. Jungkook couldn't help but to slightly cover his mouth with a hand while trying to hold a laugh in.
However, this doesn't go unnoticed by Y/N.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO LAUGH" she screeched before raising up a hand, ready to strike at Jungkook any moment.
"YIKES DON'T HURT ME" Jungkook gasped while moving to the side to avoid Y/N's hands.
"So then why are you here so early?" Y/N sassed back to Jungkook.
"Me? I'm here to train for football season"
Y/N gave him a mixed look of confusion and surprise.
"Football? You play football?"
Jungkook could only give her an offended look by her comment.
"Pft what? You mean you didn't know?"
"Know what"
"That I'm the star football player in the school!" Jungkook said with pride, a confident smirk displayed on his face.
Y/N looked up at him with blank eyes.
"Y/N, did you really not know?" Jungkook asked, slightly surprised that she in fact really didn't know.
Y/N shook her head. She was never into sports or all that jazz in the first place, which is why she never even knew about Jungkook all that well.
"No, I don't keep up with sports in general" Y/N said with slight embarrassment.
Jungkook couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat at the sight of Y/N being shy.
Moving his hand up, he playfully ruffled Y/N's hair.
"Hey! I just fixed my hair!" Y/N complained.
Jungkook let out a laugh at her little complaints.
"Hey, it's going to get ruined anyway. And try to have fun ok? But I've got to run to practice now!" Jungkook said, jogging slowly away. Taking one last look behind him, he screamed out a cry of encouragement.
"GOOD LUCK Y/N! WOOOO!"
To be truthful, Jungkook knew that he didn't have to leave so early and could've stayed to watch Y/N. But he felt as if needed to get out of her sight as quickly as possible so she couldn't see how pink his cheeks were.
Y/N shyly ducked her head away as everyone turned their head to the commotion. Seeing where Y/N was, Mina ran down to grab Y/N's hand before dragging her to the other side of the gym.
"Common Y/N! I know you have a lover, but tryouts are staring any minute!" Mina huffed while still dragging her.
"Hey! He's not my lover!" Y/N retorted back.
"Yeah, whatever. Common!"
January 16, 9:30 am. School Library.
Y/N slumped down into the chair, groaning in pain from tryouts. Luckily, this was her study period so she didn't have to attend class anytime soon. Feeling a large hand ruffling with her hair, Y/N looked up to be met with that same damn smile.
"Ugh, Jungkook. Why do you show up everywhere in my life" Y/N groaned.
Jungkook let out a small scoff in return.
"Well, you aren't the only one with a study period now too you know"
"Ugh, it's like we have the exact same schedule," Y/N joked.
"That's because we do," Jungkook said as a matter-of-factly.
Y/N jolted up from her seat in surprise.
"Wait what? We do?" Y/N asked, shuffling through her bag to grab her schedule. Once grabbing it, she held it up next to Jungkook's to compare.
It was indeed, the same schedule. Even through into the next semester as well. Y/N didn't know why, but the thought of having all her classes with him, made her feel slightly happier.
"I've never noticed you in any of the classes," Y/N admitted with slight confusion and embarrassment.
"Well, just letting you know that I am in them. You're always usually studying or talking to Mina" Jungkook chuckled, taking a seat down at the table in front of Y/N.
Well, Jungkook got her there.
"Whatever. Now if you don't mind, I was in the middle of studying" Y/N concluded, finally pulling out her notebook.
Jungkook took a look at her surroundings. Napkins, a wrapper, and a water bottle were scattered on the table. He glanced his eyes back at Y/N before letting out a chuckle.
"Must be some intense studying?" he said, pointing out to the garbage sprawled on her table.
Y/N sighed, defeated.
"Anyways how were tryouts? I take that it went well" Jungkook asked to change the subject.
Y/N gave a slight nod, groaning from the soreness that's yet to become worse.
"Yeah, I mean it was ok"
"Just ok?" Jungkook asked, a teasing smile dancing on his lips.
"Fine I'll admit, it was...fun" Y/N admitted.
Jungkook gave her a wide grin.
"See, I told you it was fun!"
"Alright, let's get back to our project" Y/N groaned. She didn't even realize the wide smile she had on her lips.
January 17, 8:00 am. School Gym's Bulletin Board.
"Common Y/N, hurry up you turtle!" Mina groaned, dragging Y/N by the hand to see who made the cheer team.
Mina scanned through the list of names, looking for hers as well as Y/N's.
*BZZ*
Pulling out her phone, she unlocked it to see that she received a good luck message from Jungkook. Or "Kookie" to be exact. It is kind of embarrassing to have his name like that as his contact, but Jungkook insisted on keeping it like that.
Smiling by his words of luck, Y/N closed her phone before placing it back into the pocket of her jeans. Right after she placed her phone away, a loud screech interrupted her thoughts.
"Y/N WE MADE IT WE'RE ON THE TOP OF THE LIST" Mina screamed in glee.
Y/N frowned in shock. How did she, the most unathletic person alive, make the cheer team? Before Y/N could come up with any explanations or conspiracy theories, a voice called out to grab her attention.
"Y/N, could I speak to you?"
It was the coach of the cheer team.
"Sure, Coach Park"
Moving away from the board, Y/N had made her way over to talk with Coach Park. But as soon as she made her way over there, Y/N heard the 7 words that nearly made her faint on the spot.
"I want you to be cheer captain"
