In no particular order these are some of my favorite anime's I've watched, so far...
1. Tokyo Ghoul
Genre: horror, tragic, supernatural, action, drama, triller.
Series length: 3 seasons and 2 extra movies?(there kind of like subplots, connected to season 3)

Synopsis: In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures who look exactly like humans -- yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions, while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.
Authors note:a lot of gore and blood, but also a thrilling story line. I just feel so sorry for Kaneki like he goes through a lot. There's also a hint of friendship and romance.
2. Yuri!!! on Ice
Genre: sports, drama, ice skating
Series length: 1 season (-^-)

Synopsis: Yuuri Katsuki carried the hope of all Japan on his shoulders in the Figure Skating Grand Prix, but suffered a crushing defeat in the finals. He returned to his hometown in Kyushu and hid away in his family's home, half wanting to continue skating and half wanting to retire. That was when the five-time consecutive world champion, Viktor Nikiforov, suddenly showed up with his teammate, Yuuri Plisetsky, a young skater starting to surpass his seniors. And so the two Yuuris and the Russian champion Viktor set out to compete in a Grand Prix like none the world has ever seen!
Authors note: this is actually the first anime I watched ( apart from when I was younger and watched Pokémon etc.) and it's still one of my favourite anime's ever. I may be a bit biased though.. Victuri <3 (also not so patiently waiting for season 2 and the movie to come out)
3. Haikyuu!!
Genre: sports, school, volleyball, shounen
Series length: 3 seasons
Synopsis: Shouyou Hinata began playing volleyball after seeing the "little giant" who played the sport when he was in elementary school. He suffers a crushing defeat in his first and last tournament in middle school at the hands of his rival Tobio Kageyama. So, Hinata joins Karasuno High School's volleyball team, vowing revenge against Kageyama. However, Kageyama is also on Karasuno's team. The former rivals form a legendary combo with Hinata's mobility and Kageyama's precision ball-handling. Together, they take on the local tournaments and vow to meet Karasuno's fated rival school in the nationals.
Authors note:love it so much!! Highly recommend for people how like sports anime or slice of life anime, even if you don't you should give it a try.
4. Attack on Titans
Genre: action, fantasy, horror, shounen
Series length: 3 seasons

Synopsis: Over a century ago, mankind was devoured by giant beings of unknown intelligence and origin known as Titans – creatures that eat humans alive indiscriminately and for no apparent reason. The remaining population has managed to survive the last hundred years only by building a multi-walled city capable of keeping the Titans at bay, training military recruits to patrol the perimeter and gather intelligence about their mysterious foe. Eren and Mikasa have lived a relatively peaceful life behind the city's walls, but when a massive Titan appears, smashing the outer barrier and unleashing a wave of terror, their lives are brutally changed forever...
Authors note: it's so well know for a reason. It's overall an amazing show. May be very gruesome at times...well most of the time.
5. Parasyte
Genre: horror, psychological, action, supernatural, sci-fi, seinen
Series length: 1 season (24 episodes)

Synopsis: In secret, alien parasites drift downwards toward Earth. Their directive: to take control of a human body and thrive in secret. When a parasite attempts to take over Shinji, an ordinary high school student, he stops it in his arm to save his mind. With the strange power of amorphous muscle, the curious parasite strikes an uneasy truce with Shinji: it will keep him alive and strong so that it may continue living, and will help protect him from the other parasites that might not take kindly to Shinji's mind still actively working. Can Shinji gain the courage to face the parasites and protect humanity? And would it even make a difference if he did?
Authors note: makes you question a lot of things.
6. Your name.
Genre: supernatural, drama, school life, sci-fi
Movie
Synopsis: Mitsuha and Taki are two total strangers living completely different lives. But when Mitsuha makes a wish to leave her mountain town and for the bustling city of Tokyo, they become connected in a bizarre way. She dreams she is a boy living in Tokyo while Taki dreams he is a girl from a rural town he's never been to. What does their newfound connection mean? And how will it bring them together?
Authors note: overall a beautiful story and the art is amazing.
7. Overlord
Genre: fantasy, adventure, action, supernatural, action, rpg
Series length: 3 seasons

Synopsis: On the night his favorite MMORPG is scheduled to be shut down, veteran player Momonga stays logged in until the clock hits zero. The screen goes dark for only a few moments before he finds himself completely immersed in the online world of Yggdrasil. Left with all of his character's devastating powers, total dominion over his loyal NPCs, and nothing better to do... Momonga decides to try his hand at taking over the world. All the hours he's spent grinding and dungeon crawling have certainly paid off, and as he tests his strength on local rogues and legendary beasts he comes to realize that not one opponent can stand against his might. Embracing his new identity as the fearsome mage Ainz Ooal Gown, Momonga continues his search for bigger, badder adversaries. Leaving the people of Yggdrasil to wonder who exactly is trapped with who?
8. Kuroko no Basket
Genre: sports, school, basketball, shounen
Series length: 3 seasons and some extra movies.

Synopsis: They were known as the 'Generation of Miracles' – five basketball prodigies who helped lead Teiko Middle School's basketball team to glory, defeating anyone who got in their way. But a mysterious rumor tells of a sixth, a phantom player who the five prodigies respected greatly. That boy is Tetsuya Kuroko, a freshman at Seirin High and the newest member of the basketball club. Alongside strong teammates such as Taiga Kagami, Kuroko will use his unique skills on the court to help the team defeat old rivals and make their way to the championships.
Authors note: some very intense basketball... enough said.
9. A Silent Voice
Genre: school, romance, psychological

Synopsis: A deaf elementary school girl, Shouko Nishimiya, upon transferring, meets a boy named Shouya Ishida in her new class. Shouya, who is not deaf, leads the class in bullying Shouko, because she is deaf. As the bullying continues, the class starts to bully Shouya for bullying Shouko. After graduating from elementary school, Shouko and Shouya do not speak to each other... until later, when Shouya, tormented over his past, decides he must see Shouko once more. Shouya wants to make amends for what he did in elementary school and be Shouko's friend.
Authors note: so sweet and heartwarming. Though you'll be crying by the end. I know I was.
10. Your lie in April
Genre: school, romance, music, psychological
Series length: 1 season (22 episodes)

Synopsis: Kousei Arima was a genius pianist until his mother's sudden death took away his ability to play. Each day was dull for Kousei. But, then he meets a violinist named Kaori Miyazono who has an eccentric playing style. His monotonus life was about to change forever.
Authors note: an emotional rollercoaster. Was full out sobbing at least three times throughout this series. And the music 👍👌🏼
