•Brook's POV•
after we got dressed, we stopped by District 6.
i ignored the fans and ran straight to my house.
"brooklynn!" my mom screamed, or should i say, cried.
"mom!" i ran into her arms.
"i am so proud of you! you didn't give up! i love you."
i hugged her tightly. and signaled with my hands
'i love you too.' 🤟 ✌️
"after winning the games, Rex's brother, Drex, poisoned her drink. messed up her throat a little. it's better not to speak for a while." Finnick said.
"thank you Finnick. you kept her safe."
finnick smiled and looked at me.
"of coarse. anytime."
clayton! i thought.
where is he?
i looked around and my mom read my mind.
"maybe you should go surprise him. he wasn't awake for the games today. doesn't know you won. i tried to get him to watch but he was too worried. he wasn't even there to see you get the trident."
i stood there shocked.
i ran up to Clayton's room.
i had to speak. just a little.
i sat next to him as he slept.
"clayton." i whispered, slowly shaking him.
he fluttered his eyes open.
"hey brooky."
he closed his eyes again.
"clayton. i'm back."
clayton shook his head, tears running down.
"it's just a dream. it's just a dream. it's just a dream!" he said over and over again.
"clayton! it's me! really. you slept all day. i won."
he hopped up.
"it's really you!"
he pulled me into his arms, not letting go.
"you still have the necklace."
he said, happily.
"of coarse. now, i can't talk much."
"why not?"
"she got poisoned last night."
finnick said, walking into the room.
"are y'all together?"
clayton asked.
i face palmed as finnick nodded.
"aren't you happy!"
clayton yelled, nudging my shoulder.
finnick looked confused.
"man, the minute your face appeared at the reaping three years ago, she was under your trance." clayton laughed.
i looked down and shook my head in embarrassment.
"it was kinda funny. she was sitting there bored and then when you got called she literally screamed 'who is that?!' it was really funny. you should've seen her face."
clayton laughed hysterically.
"oh really?" finnick asked in a sexy tone.
i shrugged.
"you told me you started liking we the second my name got called but you never told me about that."
i blushed with embarrassment.
"whatever." i mumbled. it was barely audible.
"let's go." finnick laughed, wrapping an arm around me.
"you got fans to see."
"do we get to follow?!"
clayton asked excitedly.
i swear, he acted like a nine year old when he was eighteen.
"of coarse...." finnick hesitated as clayton smiled widely.
"not." finnick continued.
clayton's expression changed so quickly as finnick and i laughed.
"just kidding. you and Brook's mom can come."
"yay!!"
"you're so childish, clayton."
i whispered.
he shrugged laughing as all for of us headed to the crowd.
