~6 years later~
a week before the Quarter Quell announcement.

•Brook's POV•
six years had passed. surprisingly.
it had been six years since me and Finnick got together. he still hasn't said i love you...six years and he still hasn't said it. maybe i should. most people wonder why we aren't married yet. i'm not ready. i don't know if i want to get married. not now with the Quarter Quell coming in two weeks.

the Quarter Quell happens every 25 years.
it's a special Hunger Games.

a harder one.
more challenging.
president snow has a box with a envelope in it.

this would be the 75th Hunger Games, the third Quarter Quell. snow would pull out that envelope that is labeled "75" and read the card inside. which says what The Quarter Quell is going to be.

last year, the 74th, a girl and
boy won the Hunger Games. they were tribute partners from District 12. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.

"star crossed lovers."

they were the last ones after killing this Career, Cato, who reminded me of Rex.

they didn't want to leave each other. they pulled out poisonous berries but Seneca Crane stopped then. he soon died.

i was personally good friends with Katniss and Peeta.

finnick on the other hand, was not. he thought that Katniss' love for Peeta was fake, even though he's  never met either of them.

i stood in the kitchen, making bacon, eggs, and toast as ever
gathered for breakfast.

"you didn't have to make this darling. i could have gotten it." said my mom.

i shrugged. "you've done enough for me, mom." i said with a smile.

next thing i know, Finnick, Alba, Alta, and Penia are walking through the door.

"hey!" clayton said, giving Alta a hug.

"hey finnick." i smiled, putting down my spatula and wrapping my arms around his neck.

he kissed my forehead.
"hey, Brooky."

"brooklynn, can i talk to you?" clayton asked me.

"sure," i said. i smiled and let go of finnick's hand as i walked over to clayton's room.

"what's up?" i asked as he shut the door.

"i think i wanna marry Alta."

"woah. wow. well congratulations."

he looked shocked.
"you're not gonna tell me i'm crazy?"

"no. you're twenty five. it's about time." i laughed.

he smiled widely.
"what about you and finnick?"

"i love finnick but...he hasn't said those three words yet and it's been six years."

"maybe he's scared."

i shrugged.

"do you wanna marry him?"
he asked.

"i mean, it wouldn't hurt. what i'm trying to say is that i don't ever want to end things with him. maybe i do."

"well i say you should talk to Alta about this. after the Quarter Quell announcement at least. that's tomorrow."

i nodded. "maybe."

we walked out of the room and every one looked at us in suspicion.

"thanks finnick."
i said, as he finished making breakfast.

he nodded and smiled.

"okay, people. i made eggs, bacon, biscuits, and toast. and a touch of shrimp." i said, winking at finnick.

he laughed. "sounds good."

everyone made them self a plate and as i spoke to Alba about my next outfit for my next interview which should be in a few days of what i think about the Quarter Quell even though i have nothing to do with it, finnick made my plate.

"thanks," i smiled.
he sat next to me and grabbed my hand.

Alba put on a baby face.
"y'all are just so adorable together."

"thanks." i said.

"i know." finnick looked at me, smirking.

i pecked him on the cheek.

"so y'all ready for the Quarter Quell announcement tomorrow?" Penia asked.

i nodded.
"i wonder what it's gonna be."

finnick sighed.

"what's wrong?" i asked.

he put on a fake smile.
"nothing."

i looked at him weirdly but ignored it.

i laid my head on finnick's shoulder with the words
'i love you' on the tip of my tongue.

they never came out.
