I woke up to silence and for a moment considered burrowing back under the covers to sleep a while longer but then realized I had Alpha responsibilities now. I sighed lowly before dragging myself out from under the warm blankets and grabbing some clothes before going into the bathroom to take a shower.
My clothes consisted of jeans and a black T-shirt with converse so in case of an incident where I would have to shift into my wolf form it would be easy to strip quickly and with ease. Instead of eating a full breakfast I grabbed a granola bar from the kitchen and headed onto the front porch to look out at the camp area. It was very warm luckily so members were already up and walking about cheerfully, a few children who had shifted into their wolf forms were playing with one another close to the porch. I walked past them with a smile and they quickly jumped away from each other to look at me, making sure to show respect to their new Alpha, I nodded at them and they just as quickly began playing again. Jasper was speaking with one of our lead warriors I could see as I neared the two, I listened in slightly while continuing to walk towards the both of them
"Lead a patrol in the eastern area, we have recently been getting some complaints of a rogue wandering around so watch out for them" Jasper's voice was filled with confidence and I could feel the excitement from him. The warrior nodded at him before turning away to walk into the forest, Jasper turned towards me and smiled slightly
"Well good morning Miss Alpha," he said happily, his short blonde hair was ruffled today which I guessed was to look good for his first day on the job as Beta.
"Good Morning Beta" I replied, stopping beside him and giving his shoulder a playful nudge.
"So, I have 3 patrols out right now that are remarking our borders and I'll probably send a 4th soon if you think it's necessary. I've had them all keep an eye out for that rogue that's been wandering around slightly-" I cut him off
"Do we know anything about this rogue yet? From its smell or anything," I asked,
"No, this rogue is clever and always seems to come before a storm hits so the scent is gone before any of our members get there" I nodded and started walking forwards with Jasper following beside me closely.
"It is, however, stealing prey so we are assuming that it must be rather weak since most werewolves don't actually catch and eat prey unless there is no human food around. We did have a member get injured this morning from getting their paw stuck in a rabbit hole and spraining their ankle pretty badly, it was a warrior in training named Devin." He said as we walked on through the camp, instead of continuing to walk through the entire area of houses and small buildings I stopped and turned around to look at my camp again, my chest seemed to be bursting with pride over the fact that I could now call this "My Camp."
"Don't send out a fourth patrol, but I'd like it if you got a small search party to go out and look for this rogue but if they do find it to come back and tell me before taking any action to bring it back to camp. Also, they can go past the borders but not into another packs territory, just into the field that is unmarked on the east side of the camp. I'm going to check on Devin, assuming he is in the hospital or did they already send him home?" I looked at him out of the corner of my eye while asking the question.
"He went home a little while ago, they wrapped his ankle in gauze but that's it. I'll send out they search part asap" he said before walking over to a warrior that was close to us. I watched him for a for seconds before turning around to walk in the direction of Devin's house, I knew the boy well since his parents had been very close to mine and it was a necessity to know all of your pack members well. I neared the house and it was quite a good size but they also had a large family consisting of, Lilian and Mark who were the adults of the house, Devin, Miya, Ellie and George who were their 4 children. Devin was the oldest and he was 14 in human years, then Miya who was 11, Ellie at 6 and George who was 4, they all were very polite children and were known for their good behaviors. I felt bad that Devin had sprained his ankle after only 6 days of being an apprentice of one of our lead warriors, Nichole, who had years of experience and was pretty much the perfect mix of kind yet aggressive when she needed to be.
I walked up the front door of the house and was just about to knock before the door swung open to reveal Maya who's short dark brown hair was fluffed up which probably meant she had only woken up a little while ago with sweet Ellie and usually very shy, George at her side. They immediately rushed over to me and bounced up and down excitedly,
"Hi, Miss Belle!" Ellie squealed happily and put her hands up in the air, asking to be picked up. I chuckled slightly before reaching down slightly to grab under her arms and lift her up to rest on my hip,
"Ellie, you aren't supposed to call her that anymore! We call her Alpha now remember?" Maya said with a slight pout on her face, glaring at her sister.
"Oops! Sorry, I meant Alpha Belle" Ellie responded, smiling at me
"It's no big deal, Miss Belle is just fine. Are your parents home?" I asked looking up through the door into the open living room they had,
"Mommy's upstairs with Devin and Daddy went out on a patrol" Maya responded before grabbing my hand and walking inside their home. I followed since their mother knew me very well and wouldn't mind me coming in, we walked to the staircase before Miya called up
"Momma! Miss Alpha Belle is here!"
Footsteps sounded from the upstairs floor then their mother's, Lilian's, head popped out from behind the corner to look down the stairs at us.
"Oh! Hello Miss Belle, How are you dear?" she asked while walking down to us,
"I'm doing well how about yourself?" I replied before setting Ellie down on the ground to hug her once she was in front of me.
"Just fine, making sure Devin stays in bed so his wound can heal but I'm sure it will be better by tomorrow" her voice was lower than usual which probably meant she was pretty tired, not to mention her unbrushed hair and dull eyes. Devin's wound would take more time to heal then an adult wolf's would because the younger you were the more time it took for our bodies to restore completely.
"Mhm, I actually came by to check up on him if you don't mind" I replied with a soft tone, making sure to not use my dominant Alpha tone around the kids,
"Of course, I'll walk you up," she said before turning around to walk back up the stairs, I followed behind quietly.
We turned around the corner once again to walk through a doorway that leads into a small bedroom, Devin was sat up on his bed reading a comic book it looked like before turning his head to look over at us. His eyes slightly widened at me before he hurriedly put the comic book on the other side of his bed where we couldn't see it, his mother moved out of my way so I could walk over to his bedside to stand beside him.
"Hey Devin, just wanted to check on you and see how you were doing with your injury" I patted his shoulder lightly while speaking,
"Oh, yeah I'm fine it doesn't even hurt anymore and Mom said that I can go back to training tomorrow" he looked over at his mom,
"I said hopefully you can," she said giving him a playful glare.
He made a face before looking back up at me,
"Well that's good, I'm sure Nichole will be glad to have you back. I'll get going though so you can get some rest" I finished before ruffling his hair and walking out of the room with his mother following closely behind me. When we got downstairs I saw that Maya, Ellie, and George had disappeared, I walked back through the door before turning around to look at Lillian,
"Well thank you for letting me in to see him, I'll see you again soon" I smiled at her before she replied,
"Of course, have a good day Belle."
I walked off the porch and back to the main camp area where members were walking about before a slight buzzing sound was going through my head which meant someone was trying to mind link me. I focused on the buzz for a moment before a male voice echoed through my ears,
"Alpha Belle, we found the rogue, we have it cornered over by that open field at the border of the territory" his voice was very broad but I recognized it as one of our warriors, Mike's voice.
"Alright, I'm headed over there now keep the rogue there until I arrive" I responded before cutting the mind link and walking towards the direction of where the field was, once I was a good quarter mile in the woods I stopped and shifted into my wolf form. Luckily I was quite large for a female wolf so that made it easier to recognize me as an Alpha and my fur was gray and dark brown. I sped up quickly into a full run and soon enough smelled my members coming closer and the slight smell of something different, but unlike most rogues scent it wasn't very unpleasant but I ignored it and pushed on before stopped beside one of my warriors who had formed a circle around the strange wolf.
The rogue was turned away from me, snarling at one of my warriors with their body lowered to the ground in a crouch. Their fur was mixed with white and light brown and their fur was surprisingly clean but you could see their ribs slightly underneath their fur. I took a breath through my nose and instantly realized they were female but that scent I had smelled before while running here was coming from them, and it smelled like some sort of flower and honey mixed together. I lifted myself up and took a few steps towards the intruder, she stopped snarling and seemed to be in shock for a moment before turning towards me, her dark eyes slowly went to mine. I froze instantly as a sudden possessiveness washed over me and I realized this rogue, a female rogue was my mate. Instead of continuing to stare at her in shock my wolf took control and I stalked forward to stand over her slightly and turn to growl at all my warriors in a warning to back away from what was now mine. They looked at me in confusion for a moment but all backed away obediently, I looked over all of them with a stern expression for a few moments before regaining control over my body and stepping away from my mate.
She was staring at me in shock still and was crouched down so her belly was slightly brushing over the ground with all signs of aggression before now gone from her body language. I mind linked to her,
"Are you alright?" I asked,
"Y-You're Alpha Erebus daughter" she replied instead of answering the question, her voice was frightened slightly which I didn't expect since before she had looked so furious.
"I am" I replied keeping eye contact with her
"Aren't you going to refuse me as your mate?" she questioned
"No, I'm not" I responded, a part of me had been... slightly angered at the question for some reason.
"But, I'm a rogue. And you're an Alpha, The Alpha of one of the most feared packs in the United States... not to mention, we're both females" she voice filled with shock
"That doesn't mean I should refuse you as my mate" My voice lowered slightly
"Um, okay" she replied
"Will you come with me? To my pack territory?" I asked, hoping she wouldn't refuse. She lowered her head slightly, thinking about the question and obviously very unsure of going into the territory and I couldn't blame her since it would be a major change for her to take on.
"Yes, I will" she raised her head back up to look at me, her voice came out surprisingly confident with no sign of doubt whatsoever, I instantly stood back up to my full height, feeling very happy with her response.
"Great, follow me."
