The council men and the Datu had already gone away to seek the Khu khu Lam  when Laang had awoken from the same slumber that took his father Datu Sari. He had cried for the royal slave's attendance at once to aid him from his deep sleep.

Laang knew what had happened the night before, but had not been there to witness it. The Bakunawa surely had its fill from the goddess moon Bulan. He got up and out of his chamber and looked for his mother Iloy. And when he couldn't find her, called for the slave again.

"Uripon! Where has my mother the wife of the Datu Sari had gone?" cried Laang.

"Datu Laang, whose blood is the blood of the gods...

you're mother Iloy went with your father to seek the Khu khu Lam..

how are you troubled my young Datu?"

   "I am not."as he answered.

"Datu Laang, can I be excused out of the Balay..

to bury the pork stew your Iloy had cooked for you?

I need the pot of the earth those northern traders have.."

"Then be gone quickly for I might need of your attendance! Here is the gold for the traders" oredered he.

Laang is the first born among three of the royal children lead by his grace Datu Sari ang Daga. He is the first and only son of the Datu. His mother Iloy, who was then held captive by Datu Sari was arranged to have him wed. Laang's birthrite to be the next Datu is unquestionable, his duties that makes him the father of the village is graciously awaited by the village folk and is an insignia that deem the family's seat of power strong as the gods bid it so. But at youth, Laang is supposed to work and earn his favor among the people of the island of Makaraig, and secure his people's faith in the royal family and their Songs.

"Blood of my blood, where has the Uripon gone Laang?" his mother said.

      "Iloy...

Has the Datu came atlast to visit our balay...

and what has the witch of the mountain told us of the Bakunawa?"said he.

"Laang... the Bakunawa has brought us the curse of death and hunger...

It is time for the blood moon, the fourth of our Bulan's sister

our God Bathala might have mercy and deliver us from tragedy"

Laang pondered on the words his mother Iloy had said to him. The Blood Moon was once familiar to him in his childhood, It was a song the peoples had their babes learned in time of feasts and harvest.

"Iloy...

is it true then, the Bakunawa is an evil serpent who came to end us..

and deliver this curse upon us? Is it true then mother?" Laang asked.

"Laang, Blood of my blood..

this is not so... the god serpent Bakunawa is not a willful god..

he has come only to take his fill, the goddess Bulan...

the curse of the blood moon is fate itself, Laang...

And it is Bathala's will to be so, and it his him who we ask

for redemption."Iloy.

  "The Blood Moon mother...

a song of festivity and for the children on harvest...

---    Our moon long ago, long ago

         Was eaten by the bakunawa

Have pity return it, return it

         The house of our King.

          Blood Moon, Blood Moon

You have cried to our forefathers

Death and Hunger you have brought upon

Death and Hunger , save us from them

These food we lay for God Bathala

Blood Moon, Our old and the babes

Save us from the Bllod Moon

As we lay our rice and meat ---

The curse of the Blood Moon has come and so did say the divine mountain witch Khu khu Lam.

This is all because of the serpent god Bakunawa had to have his fill. Khu khu Lam, a seer has fortold so. And the seer's words are as divine as the Babaylan, the village priestess. The powers they have are believed to be given by the Diwatas of the of the heavens of Maharlika. Divine beings that are as magical as the gods themself.

"Iloy sang akon Banwa, akon kay  sa balay....

( Mother of my abode, I am here at our balay.) The Datu has spoken.

have you not made our supper for my visit, dear Iloy?

I have come for my son, LaangAs he continued.

"Datu Sari, whose blood is the blood of the gods..

            Adlaw and Bulan...

     my spouse.

I have prepared for it as promised dear husband...

Laang!... Your father the Datu has come for you my son..."Iloy exclaimed.

"Greetings Father! from the old gods and the new..

I have awoken from the same magical slumber..

I have dreams the Datu must know of..

Dreams from the almighty Bathala, blood of my blood...

But the serpent god Bakunawa, I have not..

and what evil is upon us, Datu Sari?" as Laang greeted.

"The Blood Moon arises my son, the fourth of our Bulan's sister

It is as fortold by the Babaylan Khu khu Lam, whose words are divine...

Stand fast, my Laang... the curse is upon us and pray.."his father the Datu.
