Can I just go back
to the time when I only cry
because my playmate cheated with me?
Can I be a little girl again
who only worries about having to sleep first in mid-afternoon before playing?
Can I be a kid once more
who laughs and smiles
over little things?
Because as time passes by,
Problems keep on multiplying.
And as I ask and wonder why,
My mind keeps on hurting.
Things are a lot different now
What I need and what I want continue to change over time
What I hated before,
now are the ones that I need more.
What I always wanted long ago
now are things that I'm afraid to face and pursue.
Crying because a playmate cheated on you is much better than crying because the world continuously cheats on you.
Pretending to be asleep is much better than having no sleep because worries keep on bugging you all day and all night.
Appreciating small things is much better than having no sense at all.
And dreaming to grow up fast is much better than regretting growing up in this cruel world that I once thought a large playground and a paradise.
