Part 1 Author Notes

By FallenJester3

Hello to all the readers that stuck with me this far. First of all, I want to thank you all for reading part 1 of this story, it really makes me happy that I can improve my writing skills on wattpad.

These notes will answer some questions I've been asked many times, whether they be in the comments, private messages, or my friends that read this have asked me.

Questions:

Q: "What was your inspiration for Levin? Why make him the way you did?"

A: Levin is one of my proudest creations. The way I wanted to write him, was someone who was very childish as heart, at least in the beginning of the story. At the beginning, you can tell that Levin was a very sassy, and mood swinging character. I was trying to convey that he wasn't very "Mature", this is a very simple concept. He had been in custody of the ghoul prison for year, he hadn't gotten to mature like the rest of the people his own age. When he first got out, he had a skewed vision of the world and how it worked based on the books and other lessons V taught him after his torture. The torture itself was locked deep inn his memory from trauma, he acted innocent at first, but slowly started to let it out, until it broke free when he really wanted to kill anyone in his way. An example of this lack of maturity in the beginning, was the point when Kurona had broken his arm, and he told her to "Go die", like an upset child in frustration. Accepting the mixed world he was stuck in was hard for him, and him finally accepting it as it is after Rizes death, was as far as he could go as a character, unless I pulled more tragedy cards on him. We go insane, come up with a new persona and rules, then watched that break down until a new one was formed; this showed that he still didn't know what to think of the world. All in all, he was a very fun character to create, introduce, and develop; and I wouldn't change a thing about him.

. . .

Q: "What is Levin?"

A: This was tossed around a lot in the book, so much it confused a lot of people. To be honest whenever I took longer break than usual from writing about his condition, I forgot sometimes. At first we see him as a "Hybrid", being a different ghoul that can eat human food as well as human meat; eating this meat would allow him to release a kagune. H cells were a different terminology than the RC cells, whilst Levin does consume RC cells, his H cells devour them to grow more powerful. Instead of healing more from physical terms with RC cells, H cells, if devoured, can ease the mind and put it into a depressant of sorts; this is shown when Rize eats Levin, and when Kurona did when locked in Tsukiyama's mansion, it calmed them both and let Rize crawl out of a vegetive state. Levins parents were a ghoul(father), and a half-human(mother). Half-humans are failed attempts to make a One eyed ghoul (like eto), they have lowered lifespans, and have incredibly increased speed and strength in return. Levin, in being called an "Alghoul", combines the words of "Alpha" and "Ghoul", boasting that if ghouls are above humans in the food chain, he is above ghouls, the alpha. This makes Levin have greater strength and speed than normal ghouls, and an ability to control a huge amount of H cells in a kagune. In simpler terms, he's like Arima, but with a kagune.

. . .

Q: "What is up with Levin's family? What's their history?

A: Like in the question above, his mother was a half-human, and his father was a normal ghoul. Before Levin's father met his mother, he was married to another woman, one of the higher ups in V, and one of the people who ran the Garden experiments to make one-eyed ghouls. Whilst her name is still unknown to readers, she and Levin's father had a ghoul child named Vincent. But after being in the experiments some time, Levins father met Levin mother, who was a failed experiment there. After spending time with her, Ryuunosuke (Levin's father), slowly fell in love with her. His married life with his first wife was going down the drain, because Ryuunosuke then started to question V's activities, even his own wifes orders. They argued a lot, and soon they stopped talking. Forcing himself to forget his first love, he moved to his new one, and they fell in love. Ryuunosuke had an unspeakable desire to take here away to somewhere where she could be free, and have a normal life. Together, they planned to escape, taking files V had to expose them when they left. Their plan worked perfectly, and they made it to America, where Ryuunosuke was adopted from his Japanese parents (This means even though he has a Japanese name, he was named this by Japanese parents; he's still American). They settled down and had a child, but surprisingly it didn't need substance of human meat to survive in the womb, so they were able to easily give birth to Levin. This made Levin and Vincent half brothers. Levins mother, had the same father as Arima, meaning Arima and Levins mother were half siblings. Arima is Levins half-uncle. On another note, the leaked info they finally leaked gave away their position, and they sent a V squad after them to eliminate. There they found Levin, a complete mystery to them, and captured him. The rest is history.

. . .

Q: "What do you like most about writing this story so far?"

A: Writing has always been a hobby of mine, I usually am the person to space out and go into my own little world. Finding a manga like Tokyo Ghoul only sparked the creativity in me, and I wanted to get it out there instead of just spacing out thinking about it. But reading comments is by far my favorite thing to do. Whenever I got a notification that I got a comment on a new part, I'd immediately go see what it said. Even If it said "Great work as always", or something very simple that I'd seen a lot, I didn't care, because it still spurred me on to write more because it expressed your feelings on the chapter. Seeing your reactions to character deaths, and cliff hangers was amusing, and I honestly felt myself enjoying your pain (In which I found out I was sadistic). The only comments I found that I didn't enjoy were the ones that simply proclaimed, "First", or maybe other one words statements. I was always very upset when I saw no comments on a chapter, because I wanted to know if you guys enjoyed it or not. Whilst some say, "well I did vote for it", I couldn't care less about the vote, I want to know your thoughts more.

. . .

Any other questions? Comment them, and I will answer with a reply when I get the time!

. . .

Other than  that, lets talk a tiny bit about the second part.

In this first part of the story, it followed Levin mostly and his side of the spectrum, instead of Kaneki or the doves side of things.

With this next part and the introduction of Noel, the second part will follow mostly him and the CCG side instead of the ghouls side of things. Don't worry, I will go back to the others to show you what's happening with them.

I've already thought of how Noel will impact the story, and what role he will play; I'm really excited. With Levin going through so much progression, its time I put focus on another fresh character.

I had said before in the earlier parts of the book that I disliked the Quinx, but after reading more of Re, I honestly fell in love with some of them. Except Aura and Mutsuki, they can both fuck off for all I care.

The quinx will play a big part in the second part, especially with that big reveal at the end, and the hint I gave about another character who is still kicking. New and old faces will come back and make appearances, along with a new look at the world through the eyes of Noel and the quinx.

. . .

To end this Author note, I will give you some fun facts about characters and the story.

1. In the beginning, it can be seen that Levin has a lot of impure thoughts about girls, showing him to have quite the imagination. In a more simple term, he had barely had contact with any women in his life until he escaped, so he was basically late on the "fantasy thoughts" time in his life.

2. Levin actually grew quite the leg and butt fetish because of Kurona. Why? Because usually in their down time, Kurona would use Levins lap as a seat, making him have some conflicted feelings. The only thing he had on his side at those times was willpower to keep focused on games they were playing.

3. Kurona's breasts are a touchy topic for her. It was revealed that she wore a cup to make her breasts seem bigger than they actually are. She tries to do this because she wanted Levin to look at her more. Ironically, Levin doesn't care much for breasts later in the story, as shown in the earlier fun fact.

4. Vincent and Levin would often argue on the safety of Nest and their location. Not only that, but of if they should've moved out of the city. Vincent actually considered the idea of moving out of the city to be more safe, but decided not to.

5. While being aware of Levins actual mind set being locked away, Vincent took extra care to make sure Levin didn't go near V, scared they'd take him away again.

6. While Eto said she loved Levin deeply, she didn't actually love him as the other sex, but more of a little brother she could tease and have "fun" with.

7. Levin didn't agree with Kaneki's idea of humans and ghouls understanding one another because he thought it was naïve and not obtainable. But what pushed him to turn on Kaneki and help Kaneki turn into the "One eyed king", was Eto's wish of him, and Nashiro telling him that he needed to change. In the end, he still didn't think it was obtainable, but joined him to forgive him of his sins.

8. There was a lot of tarots cards put on characters that I didn't point out unlike the Urie one, Vincent and Levin. Not gonna tell you where they were though. (Just pay attention to the numbers that are said)

9. Levin's name means "Lightning" in some languages.

10. This story has a longer timeline than the original Tokyo ghoul re manga.
Nest spans over three and a half years, making the events happen much slower than in the actual manga.

11. At the end of part 1, Levin was 22 years old, and Kurona was age 21.

Thats all until the next part!

I'll see you guys next year sometime, but i will be publishing some of my other work i need to catch up on.

Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed and have a wonderful day!
