Nothing more happened after that sweet innocent kiss.. We kept kissing for a while until I fell asleep in his arms.. it was just that.. innocent kisses.. innocent touching.. innocent love..
The next morning was like nothing had happened, but at the same time, like everything did
We didn't mention our previous night once but we were more flirty with eachother but not until the point where we could be mistaken by a couple
After that night Nick always seemed to find a small period of time where he would call me and ask if I wanted to hang out.. he never mentioned it as a "date" though..
We hung out a few times.. getting a coffee, having lunch.. many different activities
But always as friends.. who occasionally said some flirty jokes and stuff
We would go to rehearsals together every two weeks and I would always end up staying at his house, sleeping in the same bed..
You thought that I, being the confrontational person that I am, would've by now asked him what we were and have serious talk.. but the truth is.. he was so different.. and after all that has been happening..
I preferred to live in a lie right now.. I preferred being delusional.. I wanted him to lead me on because I wanted human connection
And I wanted it from Nick
The big day finally came around.. Nick was obviously going with Joe in a limousine to the church so I had to get there on my own
Marissa and my sisters along with my mom and Sirah were all there helping me get ready to go.. My stylist and my make up artist were working on me while I talked with my family about how excited I was to go to the wedding..
My dad eventually came back from answering his phone and sat down looking a little nervous.. but I couldn't really understand why.. I asked him if everything is alright and he gave me the biggest smile I had ever seen
- Yeah.. It's just.. you look really beautiful.. even more than how you look at all the celebrity things..
We all busted out laughing and kept talking for a while..
The time to go finally arrive so I got in my car.. my dad and my mom taking me and my sisters to the church.. they were also going to watch the wedding ceremony at the church but they couldn't stay for the reception since they had to go to another state to take Maddie to one of her friend's birthday..
When I arrived, my first thought was obviously "Where the hell is Nick?"
People came to greet me and tell me I looked beautiful and that made my day.. I went to Dani who was also waiting for Kevin and we talked for a while... Alena was apparently with Sophie's family while Valentina was with her sister Dina
The limousine with the boys finally arrived and my breath hitched.. Danielle must've sensed it because the next thing I know is hearing her tell me that Nick and I are meant to be..
- Hum.. not really.. we're not.. Nick is too scared to ruin our friendship.. - I answered her stuttering
She turned her body to me, gave me a smile and caressed my arm - It's just a phase.. I can see that you feel things for him.. anyone could.. you both don't leave eachother for one second at the rehearsals.. Don't worry Demi.. he is going to wake up.. - she smiled giving me a side hug - I see they way you look at eachother.. you look in love.. both of you..
I gave her a shy smile and nodded not fully believing her - Thank you for your kind words Danielle.. I really do feel things for him.. - I said looking around until my eyes found him - Really deep.. complicated.. feelings
She laughed - He does too.. I'm sure..
Kevin came up to greet us and talked a while with both of us until we were finally interrupted by Nick. He greeted everyone and pushed me aside to tell me I looked stunning.. he then hugged me until I finally calmed down..
We walked and talked for a while until we finally had to go inside for the bride's arrival.. she looked stunning..
Joe's face was priceless as some tears escaped.. it was actually very emotional.. I also let some tears escape.. when Nick noticed it he hugged me tightly chuckling just when a camera past by us to film
It was for a small video for the fans to know how everything went down and what happened.. Joe always has been very open when it came to his private life.. at least with the things he doesn't mind sharing.. he truly loved Sophie and he was so immensely proud of her.. he wanted to show her off to the world and he made it all clear in their speech..
Of course, being Joe, he did what no one else could.. he made an incredible emotional speech while keeping the comedy and his sense of humor shine through..
The ceremony was beautiful and long but it was worth it.. I was actually tremendously happy that I decided to come..
We were walking down the aisle now exiting the church so we could say goodbye to the newly wed when Nick leaned onto my ear and whispered
- Joe looks happy.. I wonder if I will someday find a Sophie
I gulped leaving his arm - I looked at him.. an idiot smirk on his face made me want to hit him
- Why would you tell me that?
He shrugged - I'm just being honest.. can't I be honest to my best friend
I glared at him - You know.. you're kinda acting like a jackass - I said now feeling completely embarrassed about actually thinking I was becoming someone special to him
- Why am I being a jackass? - he asked making my mouth drop - I was jus-
- Fuck you.. I cannot believe you would do something like this Nicholas! Really?
- What did I do?
- You're fucking leading me on.. - I said pushing his shoulder away
- Demi wait, you're not getting what I'm saying..
I rolled my eyes - I knew I shouldn't have come
And with that I started walking out of the church only to face someone I didn't want to face at the moment
- Demi! Hey! You look beautiful!
- Not now Wilmer - I said looking through my purse
- What's wrong?
- Demi! - I heard Nick shout from the distance
I looked towards him and saw him stop a few feet away seeing me and Wilmer.. - Nothing is wrong.. just.. just leave me the fuck alone
Wilmer looked towards Nick and then back at me - Looks like best man over there is scared of something - he whispered licking his lips - why don't you go see what's going on with him?
- Wilmer, leave me alone - I said turning away to call a cab
I looked at Wilmer as he got closer to Nick and saw them talking for a while.. Nick's eyes never leaving me as he spoke
He then came running to me and pulled me by my hand making me almost drop my phone
- Hey what the fuck is w-
- You can't go home.. please Demi.. what am I gonna say to people when I get to the reception alone? I need to talk to you.. we need to talk
I chuckled and hung up my phone as I shook my head - Oh now you want to talk?! It's been what? 6 months since that night.. a week since I slept in your bed.. If you're going to tell me nothing is going to happen, you better fucking be ready to lose me.. 'cause if that was the case, you should've given me the cold feet instead of just leading me on..
- Demi, this is not the time to be talking about this.. nor the place.. we need to talk.. but can we do it when we're alone at the table? - he asked me looking around at the family members surrounding us
I looked into his eyes.. my tears filling my eyeballs - Kay - was all I could let out before I started biting my tongue
- Please don't be sad or mad..
- How can I not when you're showing me no emotion whatsoever about what we have to talk?!.
Nick took a deep breath looking far away and then licked his lips - please.. let's talk about this later.. ok? - he said now in a really deep serious voice
I nodded and cleaned my eyes with the tip of my ring fingers..
I was so confused.. it felt like he was going to break up with me.. but elwe are just friends.. but we're seeing eachother.. but we're definitely not together..
But, but, but...
I looked down towards the ground and then towards the church gates - I'm going to get in the limousine with the girls - I quietly said before I walked away
The entire trip everyone was having fun except me.. I had a lot to think about and a lot to get inside my head.. I told myself I wouldn't cry no matter what.. and I wouldn't get sad, specially because I didn't want to ruin Joe and Sophie's day.. and I also didn't want to be the party pooper..
But coming was definitely a mistake.. I should have followed my gut..
