"i'm sorry," he says, and even though he looks like he means it, it doesn't make her want to forgive him. "i just can't do this anymore."
"what did i do?" she asks, and if he says the whole it's not you, it's me spiel, she won't hesitate to throw a punch at his lower region.
"nothing," he rushes, obviously unable to get the words out. "i just... i'm just not enough for you. i mean, hell, eve, you deserve someone that brings you flowers and chocolates all the time just because they love you and not just because it's your birthday. you deserve someone that gives you 1000% effort instead of just a measly 35%."
"i care about you," she whispers, and he closes his eyes.
"i care about you too eve, but not... not enough. so, just... please enjoy your thanksgiving, and your break— enjoy your life. you deserve it."
and he walks away.
