when she falls back onto the bed, pulling the sheet up to cover her naked body, she turns to everett. he's slouching against the pillows, bare chest glistening with sweat, and he's panting with his eyes closed.
"you okay?" she asks, rubbing his forearm soothingly.
his eyes pop open, and the smile on his face looks forced. "fine, babe."
he doesn't look fine, but she doesn't mention it.
