he walks her to her car a few weeks later.
"don't you have to get to yours?" she asks, setting her books in the passenger seat.
"nah," he opens the car door for her. "mine's right over in the next row."
when she drives off after thanking him with her blinding smile, he begins his journey all the way to the other side of the parking lot with a tightening confusion in his chest.
