"Okay, okay," Dee breathed out, shoving her phone into her pocket and looking up at Jaeden, "I gotta go before Bill starts calling me and freaking out"
"Okay," Jaeden said sadly, his hands stuffed into his pockets, "I'm gonna miss you"
"I'm gonna miss you too," she smiled, making the split decision to wrap her arms around his shoulders. She wasn't going to hug him, she warned him of that before he even got to the airport. She hated goodbyes, and hugs made it too real. She knew she'd start crying, but at this point she didn't care.
Jaeden took a second to be surprised about it before he pulled his hands around him pockets, wrapping his arms around her too. He rested his cheek against the top of her head, smiling to himself as his eyes squeezed shut.
They probably looked so dramatically stupid to everyone around them, two kids practically blocking the boarding pass cut off, hugging for what seemed like too long.
"I like you," she said quietly, "A lot. Just so you know"
His smile pulled even bigger on his face, "I like you too"
"Okay," she nodded, pulling away from the hug. He could see the tears welling up in her eyes before she quickly wiped them with her sleeves, "Good"
"You gotta go," he said, looking past her towards the huge walkway lined with boarding gates, "As much as I want you to conveniently miss your flight, you can't"
"Yeah," she nodded, finally pulling her arms off his shoulders and hiking her backup further up on her back. She could feel her phone vibrating in her pocket, probably Bill calling her to make sure she was on her way. At this point she'd have to run all the way to her gate.
"Final call for Flight 193 to West Virginia," the female voice boomed over the PA and Dee sighed.
"Okay, no goodbyes," she assured herself, gently grabbing his shoulder once again to steady herself and she leaned up and kissed his cheek quickly before quickly turning on her heel and to the little booth.
Jaeden watched as she showed them her boarding pass then began sprinting down towards her gate.
Someone bumped his shoulder, knocking him out of the little daze he was stuck in. He turned around, practically skipping back to the parking garage, his hand pressed to his left cheek happily.
