The alarm clock beeped and displayed 7:00am. Spike rolled over and felt around for Buffy who was still snuggled up next to him. He pulled her in closer feeling the warmth of her body, times like these it felt like Spike was a normal human. Buffy moaned and turned over in Spike's arms until she was facing him.
'It's time isn't it?' she moaned
'Afraid so pet' he replied
Buffy wrapped her arms around Spike so there was no space between them.
'One more minute' Buffy whispered
'Gladly' Spike whispered back kissing Buffy on the head.
'COME ON EVERYONE UP! GET UP!' Giles yelled from downstairs, everyones moans could be heard, including Eleanor's. She wasn't screaming or crying she just wanted to be held.
'I got Eleanor' Willow called out walking into Eleanor's room.
Buffy kissed Spike on the lips then rolled out of bed.
'Come on, get up' she said with enthusiasm. Buffy went into the on suite and got in the shower, this time only lasting two minutes. She walked out back into the room with her towel around her.
'What clothes are best for saving the world?' She asked her lover.
'I don't know sweetie, you know more than me' Spike replied getting up and going to have a shower. When he was done he came out and put what he normally wore on and Buffy had decided on some clothes.
'We good to go?' Spike asked
'Yeah' Buffy smiled grabbing Spike's hand as he lead them downstairs.
'We ready for an action packed day?' Giles asked everyone
'No' Buffy replied putting the kettle on
'Did you get enough sleep?' Giles asked
'Yeah' Buffy replied giving Spike a look, Spike replied with a smirk and a wink.
'All well and good then' Giles smiled not noticing what was going on.
'I am ready to fight' Dawn said jumping down the stairs
'I remember when I used to be like that' Buffy laughed pouring all the coffees and one cup of pigs blood.
Willow handed Buffy Eleanor.
'Hello Eleanor! How did you sleep?' Buffy asked in a baby voice, Eleanor smiled at her mother like she knew what was going on. Spike put his empty cup in the sink and took Eleanor from Buffy's arms.
'Can you please change her? And her clothes?' Buffy asked Spike
'Course' Spike smiled at Eleanor lifting her up in the air, she gave a big smile back to her father.
'Ugh so when so we leave?' Buffy asked yawning
'Good morning' Xander said practically falling down the stairs
'Did anyone get any sleep?!' Giles asked frustrated, Dawn slowly raised her hand.
'Watchers pet' Buffy whispered
'What! He is your watcher!' Dawn snapped back
'Oh he watches all of us Dawnie! It was a joke' Buffy laughed
'Wow that actually looked like the old Buffy and Dawn sister relationship' Willow laughed
'Oh ha ha' Dawn fake laughed
'Yeah Dawnie if we save the world you can go to school next week! First day of the school year you don't want to miss it!' Willow said
'Ugh! No Willow!' Dawn moaned
'I thought you wanted to go to see that guy'
'Oh yeah! I remember!' Dawn laughed. Spike came down the stairs holding a clean Eleanor.
'All changed and ready to go' Spike smiled holding Eleanor out for someone to hold. Xander swooped in and grab Eleanor, he went and sat down with her making funny faces until she laughed.
'So Giles what time are we leaving?' Buffy asked again
'Oh 9:30 am' He replied
'What? That's soon and early you said it was being summoned at 12:00 pm' Willow said
'Yes, but I could be wrong, it could happen earlier we need to be prepared' Giles told everyone
'Alright get the weapons then?' Spike asked
'Yes' Buffy replied jumping up and going to help load the weapons into the car.
'Okay so we should have the boot open with most of the weapons laid out, like a little weapon shop for your everyday weapons!' Buffy explained, Spike laughed and Buffy smiled.
'Good idea Buffster' Xander agreed bouncing Eleanor up and down.
'Let's go get some more weapons' Xander said to her in a baby voice, Buffy rolled her eyes.
'You sure pet? It is not to late to change your mind?' Spike asked
'About the boot? I thought it was a good idea?' Buffy frowned, Spike took Buffy's arm and looked into her eyes.
'No, about Eleanor'
'I am one hundred percent sure, I need her with me. If not, just knowing she could be in danger and I can't stop it, it just I can't even talk about it. It would be like loosing you and I can't do that again'
'But Buff, what if you something happened and you did lose...'
'No! I can't hear it! I don't want to hear it! It is not going to happen!' Buffy snapped cutting Spike off and moving away. She dropped the weapons into the car's boot, ran up to Spike hugging him and cried. Spike didn't say anything he just held her in close and shut his eyes.
'I'm okay!' Buffy smiled pulling away and wiping her eyes
'Love you' Spike smiled
'And I love you, now lets save the world' Buffy smiled back.
The long car ride began, Giles driving, Willow in the passenger seat, Buffy, Spike and Eleanor in the back and Dawn and Xander in the fold out seats in the boot, squashed with all the weapons. The gang went over tactics, who should make the first move, what weapons were best, how they could destroy it even though they still needed that one thing.
'Maybe the one thing is something that was used during the summoning spell' Willow wondered
'Yes, quite right. The person summoning it could have something of the Gods' Giles explained
'We should have researched the spell' Dawn said
'I tried, as much as I could, it wasn't possible to get the exact spell, all slightly different for different summonings' Giles replied
'What if wherever the God is raised like the first place it appears one of us goes and finds the spell spot. Sometimes when you do a spell and no longer want it you can just smash one of the important things' Willow tried explaining
'Oh like! When I brought mum back...' Dawn whispered
'Yeah. Exactly' Willow agreed
'Worth a shot!' Buffy smiled
'Definitely but I doubt the God will just vanish' Giles said
'Maybe it'll hurt it' Dawn suggested
'Are we nearly there?' Buffy asked
'Half an hour away maybe a bit more' Giles replied
'That's ages!' Buffy exclaimed
'Not my fault' Giles retorted.
Buffy looked at Spike who was starring out the window, Buffy realised that she truly loved him. Even though he was a vampire and she was the slayer they were meant to be. She couldn't wait to spend the rest of her life with him, her life not his. She knew and hoped that Spike did live on long after her death, that meant Eleanor always had someone to look out for her and hopefully Spike stayed till the end of Eleanor's days.
'Yeah?' Spike asked
'Huh!?' Buffy panicked waking up from her day dream.
'You were looking at me?' He replied
'Oh sorry love just day dreaming' She smiled
'Bout me?' Spike smirked
'Maybe' Buffy gave a cheeky smile.
Eleanor was asleep in the middle of both her parents, she was really the perfect baby she rarely screamed or cried and always slept through most of the night.
'Do you reckon Eleanor will be a slayer?' Buffy asked, everyone looked kind of stumped.
'Ugh I don't know, possibly' Giles replied
'If not, you still reckon she would be pretty strong ay?' Buffy kept asking more questions.
'Well love your strength and my strength combined I'd say yeah she's going to be quite strong' Spike answered
'Bout 10 minutes away' Giles told everyone
'Okay, I'm ready' Buffy said 'Everyone?'
Everybody said yes in sync and sat up a little in their seats, they were ready for a good fight.
'Ready Eleanor?' Buffy whispered down to her little one, Eleanor smiled like she understood Buffy. Spike looked down at Eleanor and at Buffy, he loved them both so much but he didn't know if Buffy should fight with her, it did not seem right.
'I know what your thinking and it will be fine' Buffy whispered learning over Eleanor towards Spike. He placed a hand on one side of her face
'I do trust you Buffy' He smiled
'But you think I am crazy?' She asked
'A little bit'
Buffy looked into Spike's eyes and she knew he thought she was more than a little crazy and that he didn't want her to do this. But Buffy didn't want Eleanor out of her site and if that meant fighting with Eleanor that is what Buffy would do.
'Eleanor will be in the baby seat on my back, strapped in really tight. She will be fine.' Buffy told her lover
'Okay' Spike smiled.
Giles pulled up along side a street with lots of trees in the nature strip, The gang jumped out and Spike helped Buffy put Eleanor in the baby seat attached to her back.
'Okay I want everyone loaded with weapons okay? Not one at least two! I want us all to fan out, I want Dawn with Spike, Sorry love but she can't do it by herself'
'Ayy!' Dawn snapped cutting Buffy off.
'Giles go north, Xander go east, Willow south, Spike, Dawn in the middle and I will go west. I want us to look anywhere someone could be doing a spell okay? If you see anything shout to me okay, if you see The Desdemona attack it! As best as you can okay. And also shout so we all will come running! The boot will be left wide open okay? The car is like home base we report back here Okay?' Buffy instructed
'Okay! The town looks a little empty' Willow said
'Maybe they sensed something in the force' Xander giggled
'Aren't you a bit old for Star Wars jokes?' Giles asked
'Giles, you are never too old for Star Wars' Xander replied
'No he is right' Buffy said
'What? Come on Buff Star Wars stays with you forever' Xander smiled
'No! Xander's right' Buffy hushed trying to listen to see if she could hear anything.
'Really?! Take that Giles!' Xander shouted
'Maybe they all did sense something' Spike spoke
'That's what I was thinking' Buffy replied
'And you are never to old for Star Wars' Spike added, Buffy gave him a glare with a smile
'What?' Spike held his arms up in defence laughing.
'Yes! Spike is on my side' Xander said
'Or maybe no one was ever here' Giles wondered
'Maybe this was a trick to throw us off' Willow suggested, Buffy unclipped the harness of the baby seat and handed it to Xander who was the closest to her.
Buffy wondered around and noticed that most of the places were abandoned and it seemed like they had been left for a while. Buffy kicked a door down to a little shop, the food hadn't even been taken down it was just left. She reached the back of the shop and there was a room, quite small and empty not a single thing in it. She walked around and listened carefully to the floor boards creek until one step felt hollow underneath. She took a step back and forth listening to the hollow sound. She jumped and the hollow sound was louder. She looked to the ground and saw a little handle in a hole on the ground, she kneeled down and pulled the handle up. She took a deep breath and pulled the lid up, she looked down into the deep darkness.
'Love?' Spike had followed her scent into the lonely room, he saw her staring into the hole in the ground.
Buffy jumped back letting the lid hit the other side of the floor.
'Sorry!' Spike said grabbing her arm to calm her.
'No, it's fine' Buffy replied touching his hand. Spike looked down into the hole and bent down. He was still for a second and leaned closer pushing his ear down into the hole. He sat down and dangled his legs into the hole and felt around for a ladder, his leg hit something and it rocked back and forth. He figured it was the ladder and placed his foot into it swigging himself around.
'Spike!' Buffy panicked
'You coming?' He asked
Buffy stepped forward, sat down and dropped her legs over the hole, Spike continued down the hole and steadied Buffy onto the ladder. They continued down the ladder until Spike stopped when he realised the ladder ended. He placed his leg back on the step before and placed his hand on Buffy's leg to stop her.
'What?' She asked him
'It stops' he whispered, Buffy waited while Spike tried lowering one leg down feeling for ground, the top of his toe felt something hard and he hovered himself holding onto the railing until his whole foot hit the ground. He jumped down and held his arms out for Buffy.
'I am fine' Buffy assured him
'I know baby' Spike smiled grabbing her waist and placing her down. Buffy grabbed Spike's arm because it was too dark and she couldn't see. She held her other hand out trying to feel for a wall, and Spike did the same. She found what felt like a wall and Spike and Buffy walked along the wall slowly until Spike felt a switch.
'I think I found it' Spike whispered, Buffy felt around and found Spike's hand on the wall, he lifted his hand and Buffy pushed the button on the switch. A flickering sound came from above the couple and filled the air, it got louder and louder until it stopped, the room was still dark and then a little flick sound came from a corner and a light switched on. It wasn't very bright and only lit up the corner. Buffy shuffled to the corner making sure she didn't trip on anything, Spike followed. They stood in the corner and tried to peer into the darkness to see anything.
'He used to be good...' A voiced whispered, Buffy jumped and gripped her fingers into Spike's arm.
'What?' Spike asked
'He used to be good until he found the devil' a little person creeped out from the other corner and Buffy and Spike could just make out the person's shape. He was very small, skinny and looked like he had been held up in the room for a couple of months.
'Who used to be good? And what do you mean devil?' Buffy asked
'You don't say his name, he is everywhere!' A woman hissed from the corner.
'Is there more people here?' Spike asked
'My family' The little man answered 'There is about 10 of us'
'So what is the devil?' Spike questioned
'Dark magic...' the man whispered covering his mouth as if he had said something bad.
'Oh' Buffy replied as she was expecting something worse.
'He found a way... to bring things back!' The little woman approached Buffy and Spike from the corner hobbling over.
'We know. He is going to bring The Desdemona back' Spike said
'Shhh! Shhh!' The woman waved her hands in the air going to cover Spike's mouth, Buffy held her arm out to stop the woman.
'Don't say names! Don't say names! He is everywhere!' The woman yelled covering her ears and crouching onto the ground.
'Beatrice don't panic again! It will be okay!' The little man said crouching down to comfort his wife.
Buffy looked at Spike, she didn't know what to do.
'Well we are going to stop it' Spike said
'Oh but you can't!' the women yelled, she stood up and came closer to Spike and Buffy, she pointed her finger at them.
'There is only one thing that can stop it!'
'What is it? Do you know?' Buffy asked
'I do not know the appearance' the women stated 'but it is something strong, something no one would expect'
'That... really doesn't help' Spike replied
'Leave! Leave this place! You can only run or hide! And this hiding place is ours!' The woman yelled, sobs began in the corner and the woman turned around and rushed to comfort her children.
'We should go' Buffy said pushing Spike towards the dangling ladder.
'Thank you, we will stop it' She smiled
'Good luck...' the little man whispered.
Spike helped Buffy onto the ladder then pulled himself up. They got to the top and slowly closed the lid, Buffy stared down at it for a while until she felt the familiar hold of Spike's hand around hers. They walked out and saw the gang still standing near the car.
'That was quick, nothing in there?' Xander asked
'Quick?' Spike asked with a perplexed face
'What? We were down there for at least half an hour Xander' Buffy told them
'No, you were gone for about two minutes' Giles said
'What...?' Buffy looked at Spike who had the exactly same expression on his face.
'Where did you go?' Willow asked
'Um theres this family... Um under the ground. 10 of them. They said he knows dark magic to bring the God back and the thing that can stop it is strong and no one will expect it' Buffy informed everyone
'Hm' Giles said cleaning his glasses 'interesting'
'Very' Spike said 'I don't know how that helps'
'I don't know' Xander said walking over to Buffy and handing her Eleanor back who was asleep. Spike helped her strap the seat back onto Buffy's back.
'Okay so now what?' Buffy asked
'Well you and Spike are strong but they would be expecting it' Giles said
'Why would they expect us?' Buffy questioned
'Because you are the slayer...'
'Oh right, that thing' Buffy said 'Ugh this is no good I seriously give AHHH!' Buffy screamed, and Spike grabbed her arm. The floor started shaking and the buildings were vibrating. The gang was trying to hold there balance and then the rumbling stopped.
'It's started.' Willow whispered
'The spell has begun' Giles said
'Spilt up! Find this person! It is a he, whoever he is!' Buffy yelled. Each one of the gang ran in a separate direction trying to find the spot where the spell was cast. Buffy ran past all the shops looking in, but all were empty. Xander went looking through one of the parks, that was full of trees and felt crowed, no good spot to do magic. Giles ran through a small suburb of houses all abandoned and falling to pieces, the person had attacked before. Willow ran straight past everything to a completely abandoned place, a good quiet place for a spell but nothing seemed to be inside. Spike and Dawn continued past all the houses and everything to where it all seemed to stop, like it had been wiped out. Dawn saw someone in the distance and instantly hid herself behind Spike using him as a shield.
'It's okay' he assured Dawn
They gradually got closer to the person waving their arms about like a lunatic, jumping up and by the looks of it dancing. They kept getting closer until Spike could see a big circle on the ground around the persons feet.
'AHH!' The boy screamed, Spike just stopped and stared at him. The boy put his fists up ready to fit.
'Whoa. What are you doing?' Spike asked
'Ugh it's useless' the boy fell to his knees
'What's useless mate?'
'Me, the spell, stopping him' The boy told them
'Whose him?' Spike asked
'Ugh my stupid brother'
'What! Brother?' Spike said
'Yeah, stupid magic got to his head. Wait who the hell are you?'
'Well I am Spike and this is Dawn' Dawn gave a small wave as she was still hiding behind Spike.
'Well... I am Matt and my brother is Chris. He is bringing back a God today. I am trying to stop him.' Matt said
'Well we can help with that, my friends and I are like super heroes' Spike told him
'Oh. Wow okay'
Spike took Matt to where the car was, the rest of the gang had found their way back to the car.
'Spike!' Buffy yelled when she saw him coming, she ran up to him and hugged him.
'Hey gorgeous, everyone this is Matt' Spike said
'Hello.' Matt waved
'We found Matt doing some... Dancing? Or something?' Spike said a little confused he had forgotten to ask what Matt was doing.
'It was a spell!' Matt said
'So anyway, Matt's brother Chris is the evil genius bringing back The Desdemona' Spike said
'Wait what!?' Buffy said
'Yeah...' Matt muttered
'What spell were you doing?' Willow asked
'Um. A protection spell I think' Matt stuttered and handed Willow the spell book.
'Hm close. You were doing a spell to make it rain toads, have you ever done magic before?' Willow said
'Well no, Chris has the magical skills, I don't know what else to do' Matt said
'Why did your brother turned evil?' Xander asked
'Because. I am better than him' Matt murmured
'Huh?' Buffy asked
'He was sick of living in my shadow, I am better and he hated it. He found a magic book one day. He got held up in his room for weeks never let me in. He came out one day and he was different' Matt said
'Magic can go to your head.' Willow replied 'trust me I know'
'Where's your brother?' Giles asked
'Who knows' Matt laughed
'This is serious' Spike said
'Well I don't know' Matt smiled, and slowly started backing away.
'Where are you going?' Buffy asked
'Hm away' Matt said, Buffy ran towards him to catch him but as soon as she laid her hand on his arm, he vanished.
'What?' Buffy asked
'Wait, what the hell?' Spike said
'I... um don't think "Matt" has a brother' Giles said quoting the name Matt.
'Oh.' Buffy said
'Wait. What? I don't understand' Xander said
'Matt is Chris' Willow explained
'Huh?' Xander replied
'Matt is Chris the evil genius' Spike said
'So who is Chris?' Xander asked
'Ugh! This is explaining Glory and Ben all over again!' Spike laughed
'Haha! Oh yeah' Buffy giggled
'Matt the person we just saw is Chris the evil genius, Chris is probably a made up name' Buffy explained to Xander
'Ohhhh! I so get it now' Xander laughed
'Great so we had him in our hands and he got away' Willow said
'More like he vanished out of my hands' Buffy smiled
The ground shook again and Buffy grabbed onto Spike's arm. Eleanor fidgeted in the baby seat on Buffy's back.
'What's wrong Eleanor?' Spike asked his little girl
'Ughhh!' Eleanor moaned, Spike stroked Eleanor's hair and whispered to go back to sleep, and she eventually did.
'I'm sick of this I can't wait anymore!' Buffy said
The ground shook again worse than last time, Buffy fell to the floor holding it to stay balanced, Spike rushed over and helped her up.
The sound of giant footsteps got closer.
'I think we are too late' Xander said
A God appeared from behind the buildings smashing everything in it's way. It was a giant and Buffy and the gang did not no how to stop it. The God looked like a girl but she sounded like a man when she yelled, she had long black hair that was mattered and twisted, her hands were the size of trucks, her feet even bigger, she was ugly and unattractive and she very much looked like a troll.
'You sure that thing is a God?' Spike asked
'Just because she is ugly she can't be a God?' Willow asked
'Well yes' Spike replied
The Desdemona threw a magical spell at the gang, her aim was off though and it flew above their heads. The gang rushed to the car boot and everyone grabbed about two weapons, one in each hand. They charged at The Desdemona and hacked away at her legs as that's how tall they were next to her. The Desdemona jumped and whimpered, grabbing her ankles to stop the bleeding pain. She threw another ball of magic at the gang, but Willow was ready and put a protective shield around each member of the gang, Protecting them from whatever spell.
'You shall not defeat me!' The Desdemona yelled
'We'll see!' Buffy yelled back
The Desdemona smiled at Buffy revealing a rather dead smile. She stared up at the sky and started chanting a spell.
'It won't work!' Willow yelled
The Desdemona quickly pulled her head down and stared at Willow, her eyes had turned black and Willow's heart sped up. Buffy looked up at the sky where The Desdemona had been looking, there were some tiny black dots in the sky, it didn't look like rain.
'Spikeee! What's that?' Buffy asked pointing at the sky
'I don't know love, it doesn't look like rain' Spike replied
It was rain, but not the regular kind. It showered vampires, they were The God's minions. They charged at the gang and they struggled, there were too many to take.
'We can't take them all!' Buffy yelled
More and more came, they were running out of stakes. Buffy decided the best way was to just chop of their heads, she was chopping about three vampires heads off when she felt the baby seat feel lighter.
'Eleanor?' she turned her neck a little and Eleanor was still there in the seat smiling at Buffy.
'Stop!' The Desdemona yelled, she raised her arms and more vampires fell from the sky. The Desdemona walked towards the gang knocking more houses down, along the way. Buffy thought about the people trapped underneath and hoped they were okay.
'SPIKE WE HAVE TO DEFEAT THE DESDEMONA!' Buffy yelled
Spike killed another two vampires and rushed over to Buffy.
'What's the plan?' he asked
'I don't know' she replied 'You guys got this?' Buffy yelled out to the gang.
'Yeah!' Xander called back to them.
Buffy and Spike ran forward to the God and again just decided to hack away at the God's legs. She flinched and tried to kick them, they ducked, her foot going over Buffy, Spike and Eleanor. The Desdemona stepped back and stared at them.
'What?' Buffy whispered to Spike
'No clue pet' He replied
'No...' The Desdemona said.
Eleanor started fidgeting in the seat,
'What's wrong baby?' Spike asked
Eleanor started groaning and slowly started rising out of the seat.
'Eleanor!' Buffy yelled
She rose into the sky with her little arms reached out above her sides and she was glowing.
'Eleanor!' Buffy screamed, tears started streaming down her face.
Spike was speechless staring up at his little girl. Buffy fell to her knees.
'Give us back our baby!' She yelled at the God, but the God didn't do it. Buffy and the gang suspected that the God was taking Eleanor away but Eleanor was the one thing that could kill The Desdemona.
She glowed high into the sky and slowly started spinning, The God started screaming and screaming until she tripped backwards and landed on a park, surrounded by a high fence, it stabbed The Desdemona in her back. The glowing energy from Eleanor shot out of her and hit the The God right in the heart killing her. Buffy and the gang stared up in astonishment. Eleanor slowly drifted back down into Buffy's arms and Buffy cried onto her little face. Spike joined them in a hug.
'Something strong, something no would expect' Buffy smiled at Spike
'Yeah, Eleanor.' Spike smiled back, kissing Buffy and then Eleanor.
The gang came rushing over. They had a big group hug making sure everyone was okay.
'What did this?' Giles asked, Buffy stared at the God dead on the ground.
'Eleanor...' she replied.
