Kubrick's first movie was "Day of the Flight", (1951), made when he was 23 years of age. Afterwards, he quit Look magazine, then directed two crime noir movies:
"Killer's Kiss", (1955), and "The Killing", (1956), set in New York City.
Because of his cult success, Kubrick directed two movies with Kirk Douglas, (December 9, 1916-): "Paths of Glory", (1957); and the Roman Empire epic, "Spartacus", (1960), which Douglas produced. From the 20's to early 30's, Kubrick's fame grew.
But, due to circumstances, Kubrick hated to be controlled by "The Hollywood system", so he upped and left for London, England, where he could control all of his next movies without interference.
