ROSEANNE SONG liked to play with fire. She liked to watch the match become shorter, the flame destroying the small piece of wood until it reached her fingers. Unlike others, she allowed the flame to lick her fingers like a gentle kitten, burn her skin and cause blisters to appear. If one could find a word to describe Rosemarie, it would be Wrath. A recoil of pure wrath personified into a small girl.
When she was thirteen, she lit papers on fire and watched the burnt bits fly up into the sky like pieces of starlight. When she was fifteen, she lit a trash bin on fire by throwing away her friend's cigarette and pouring the leftover petrol from the lawnmower. When she was sixteen, she set her own house on fire. She watched the house she grew up in turn into ashes, the flames rise into the sky like bits of stars, just like she did when she was thirteen.
At seventeen, she activated the werewolf curse that ran through her veins by killing her best friend. At twenty-one, Roseanne had become an honorary member of the Deep Water Pack. They adopted her, took her in like a stray dog that needed a home.
When the news of a baby born from a vampire and a werewolf comes, the Deep Water Pack travels to New Orleans to witness the birth. What Roseanne didn't expect was that she would learn more about herself than she wanted, but she did like playing with fire. It was about time for her to get burned.
