-S Class Trials-
Y/N's POV
I cut through the forest running as fast as I can.
I have to find Zeref, before something bad happens.
"D-damn it...where is he?" I ask myself panting as I run.
A few days ago, when Fairy Tail came over for their yearly S-Class Trials, Zeref had changed completely when I told him who was in the S-Class Trials.
I should have considered how Zeref would act before telling him who was in the trials, and one of them was his brother, Natsu. At this point, I can't confirm if Natsu is really Zeref's brother but right now I have to find Zeref as quickly as possible.
Suddenly I hear a loud 'thud' nearby and I quickly run over, seeing Natsu protecting Elfman and Evergreen from Zeref.
"Zeref!" I call out to him, trying to get him out of his trance.
Zeref turns and looks at me with a small smile but turns back around and starts walking towards Natsu and the the others.
"H-hey! Stop it Zeref!" I yell running up to him trying to pull him back.
"Y/N?! Get out of here!" Natsu yells.
"No way! You guys should get out of here! It's you he's after anyways, Natsu!"
"Me? If it's me he's after, let him have me!"
"Natsu, you don't understand...just get out of here!"
Natsu ignores me and starts running towards Zeref and I, until he notices his scarf.
"...Igneel...I won't kill you yet, Zeref."
Natsu leaves, taking Elfman and Evergreen along.
"Zeref...what's wrong with you? Snap out of it!"
"He...doesn't want to kill me yet..." Zeref mumbles.
"H-hey cut it out! This isn't you!"
"This is me Y/N. The real me."
"There's no way in hell this is actually you! Come on Zeref, snap out of it!"
"It was an act Y/N." Zeref says.
"A-an act? W-what are you talking about?"
"I acted everything out. I earned your trust, making you confide in me. I know everything now, all thanks to you. Sorry Y/N, but you can't get involved in this."
"An act? Y-you can't just say all of those memories were acts! This isn't the real you Zeref and I know that!"
"I've told you already. This is the real me, so if you don't want to get hurt I suggest you get out of my way."
"I guess it's come to this then..." I mumble under my breath, "Fairies' Protection, unleash this magic that bounds me as a ghost. Return me to my human form."
"So, you are an actual human not just a ghost..."
I nod slightly, "Yeah I am. If you want to get to Natsu you'll have to go through me first."
Zeref's eyes widen, "B-but you'll die if I touch you..."
"That's the chance I'm taking. If you're planning something dangerous that could harm the guild, I will stop you. Boyfriend or not."
"...Fine. Just remember this was your choice Y/N."
Zeref charges at me and I simply stand there, waiting to take the hit. I knew that if Zeref killed me, he wouldn't go through with his plan. No matter how important Natsu is to him, my death will leave Zeref heartbroken. I love Zeref way too much to see him try and destroy the world, and possibly destroy himself.
It's as if the world moves in slow motion as Zeref soon notices that I won't attack him. He tries to move his hand away and just as it's centimeters away from touching me, I notice a blur of light yellow appear in front of me.
Mavis stands in front of me holding Zeref's fist in her hand, "Just what do you think you're doing?"
"M-mavis! I-I wasn't thinking-"
"You know you can only use that spell once! You won't be able to be a ghost anymore!"
"...I know...b-but I had no choice!"
"You did have a choice. You could have let Zeref go with his plan, everything would have been fine!"
"B-but Mavis, I was only trying to get Zeref to remember all the great memories we've had...so he wouldn't hurt the guild."
Mavis stays silent, letting go of Zeref's hand and dropping her own hand to her side, "Did you ever think about how I would feel, how the guild would feel if I told them one of their founders died?"
I'm about to say something but Mavis cuts me off.
"They'd be confused. They would wonder how you possibly died when you're a ghost. I'd explain it to them and then they'd ask why you couldn't have turned human and joined the guild. I'd say it was only a one time use spell, and that you died to protect them and risked being a ghost to die...now how do you think that would make me feel Y/N?"
"I-it would make you feel devastated...and angry. You would be alone again..."
"Exactly... and even if you didn't die now, you'd die eventually of old age... I gave you the chance to be a ghost so you could stay young with me."
"I-I'm sorry Mavis, but this is for the sake of the guild. Forgive me..."
I step away from behind Mavis and run straight towards Zeref, giving him no time to move out the way. I hug Zeref tightly as I hear Mavis yelling at me to stop and I can feel Zeref breaking down.
"Y-Y/N...n-no, don't do this Y/N. Y/N please don't leave me or Mavis. Please..."
"I'm sorry Zeref, but it's the only way. Besides I rather die in your arms and around the ones I love instead of somewhere random. Mavis, I'm so sorry, but you're the most amazing friend I could've asked for. I always loved the memories we've made when creating Fairy Tail. Don't forget me okay?"
Mavis cries but smiles, "Of course I won't Y/N...I love you."
"I love you too Mavis...and Zeref, please understand why I'm doing this. You can go on with your plan, but you'll always remember this moment right?"
"...I-I will..."
I smile a little, "Please live on for me. Reconnect with Natsu. I'll be in your heart forever, and you were the best boyfriend ever Zeref. Don't be sad...I'll be watching over you..."
"Y/N...I-I love you and I'm sorry. It wasn't all an act, I really cherished all those memories with you."
"I know you did. I love you too Zeref..." I feel my life force fading away and soon it goes dark.
-7 Years Later-
Zeref's POV
I walk along Tenarou Island after escaping from Grimoire Heart. It's been 7 years since Y/N's death and 7 years since Fairy Tail's disappearance. The guild was back at home safe and sound due to Mavis' magic.
"So you're back?"
I turn to see Mavis, "I am... I came to pay my respects to Y/N."
"I'm sure she'd love that. Let's go together."
I went along with my plan, although knowing Y/N would have disapproved, but there wasn't a moment where I didn't think about her. I miss her so much, and so does Mavis. I'm not sure if there was anything we could've done that day to save her.
"We're here."
Mavis and I walk into a garden filled with Y/N's favorite flowers and her grave, the Fairy Tail symbol, was covered in flowers as well.
"This was always here favorite place..." I say quietly.
Mavis nods walking up to the grave as I follow behind her.
"Y/N, I'm sure you can hear us...we miss you so much. I wish there was something we could have done to save you...this place isn't the same without you..."
I nod in agreement as Mavis places flowers and I walk up to the grave, "Y/N...I miss you so much. There isn't a day where you aren't on my mind. It would be truly a miracle if you were here with us but...that won't happen will it?"
"I'm here..." I hear a voice say.
"Y/N? Is that really you?" Mavis asks.
"Of course it's me...I'm sorry I can't physically be there with you, but I can only be a voice surrounding the island."
Mavis starts to cry, "Hehe, that's good enough for me! Welcome back Y/N!"
"Welcome back Y/N." I say as well with a smile.
I can't see her, but I imagine Y/N is smiling with tears streaming down her face at this moment. A true miracle has came true.
