Gale POV

He's a liar. A cheater. And now he's dirt.

That's what my father was.

I don't even care that he's dead. My mother on the other hand, I had felt sorry for her.

Until she left us too. Then she became dirt, as well.

She didn't die; she just walked out of our lives without us even knowing.

Now my older siblings, Evan, Laura and I are left here to defend for ourselves. Evan was 19, trying to pay for college. He wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but he was trying to finish.

Both Laura and I wanted what was best for him. We didn't want him to give up. When Laura turned 16, she dropped out to support our family unit, and Evan started working part-time. With Laura working multiple jobs and Evan working whenever he could, we barely managed to get by.

I wanted to start working too but they complained that I was the only 'smart' one in the family and that I should just focus on school. I was 13 at the time.

After almost a year of seeing them tire themselves out, I insisted I had to get a job as well. I told them at their weakest: when they got back from work. They didn't resist at the time.

Then the next couple of days I scoured out looking for jobs. At first, all the employers willing to hire seeming interested, after all I was pretty tall for my age at about 181 centimetres (5'11 feet). Not bad for a freshman in high school. And I was pretty fit too. If I had to thank my bastard of a father for one thing, it would be the fact that he always kept my siblings and me in good shape. He used to be a personal trainer before he married Mom.

Well after the employers from local stores, supermarkets and auto-shops see me, their eyes glisten as if they had just found a gem. When I was so sure I was about to be hired...

They had asked me my age.

Everything goes downhill from there.

I get turned down as soon as the shock leaves their faces. The places that were willing to hire students my age were packed. I had no experience and was too young for most jobs. They always say that I should come back when I'm '16.'

What did it matter? I looked 16, maybe even older.

"Just give up," my older sister, Laura said, after the second day of my job hunt, "You're young, smart and good looking. You'll have everything going for you in the future. Just be a kid and focus on your studies. We can handle it."

She was lying through her teeth about the stress she was taking on. Her usually bright glistening chocolate brown eyes were dull and her hair had lost its lustre. My naturally pretty sister now had bags under her eyes and looked deathly pale. We all knew she was working multiple jobs and it was taking its toll. We tried to stop her from overworking, but she was so damn stubborn.

My brother and I made sure she only took 'decent' jobs. What I meant by decent was pretty self-explanatory.

Therefore, it was ironic when I took my job. It was day three of my so-called 'job hunt.' I knew I needed a way to make money. I was just going to have to pass by every place willing to hire. My brother and sister needed a break.

I was walking back home when I decided to take a different route. Maybe I could find parts of the city I never knew and hopefully, find a job.

I didn't notice till I was halfway there, but I was entering the 'Night District' or better known as the 'Party Town' for the rich. This area was the place where young and old rich bastards decide to play with their money. From the stores to the bars to the restaurants to the strip clubs to the so-called 'host/hostess clubs' and to the nightclubs, it had everything a sick rich douche would want, and it was here... for a price.

This district was right near the ocean. At night, this place looks so beautiful, you forget that all the wealthy scumbags that come here for their daily release from life, almost as if their lives were horrible. The brightly lit streets seemed too beautiful for such a sleazy place. Loud music was everywhere. The streets were unusually clean.

Then I passed a beautiful building that was just as loud as the others were, but the building's shape was so....unique. It was right on the coast of the ocean. The glass building was shining like a giant crystal changing colours.

I mean you could tell it was a nightclub with all the people you saw dancing and hanging out through the windows. The coloured lights, the people, everything about this place said 'fun.'

It drew people in; even I was tempted to go in. Well, that was until I saw the huge guards standing by the entrances, that allowed only certain people to enter. By certain, I meant good-looking rich people who were of age. There were plenty of them, ranging from 18 to about people in their early forties.

All were extremely attractive, wearing designer clothes, shoes, and accessories. I stood on the walkway forgetting everything. Anyone working there was bound to earn a ton of money.

I shook my head. There was no time to be thinking about that, I would at least have to be 18. I slowly started to walk away until I heard yelling from the trees that formed the pathway to the club. Curiosity struck me. I headed over there silently and light on my feet.

"You bastard! We need you tonight. It's our biggest show ever. That girl came here for a party! She has a popular fan base! This'll put us on the map!" a scrawny guy with messy curly hair screamed.

The guy he was talking to was much larger and had a well-defined build.

"Sorry, dude. I'm done. I need to find a job my girl will be proud of and not flirting with other women. I just found out Hailey was pregnant last month. I can't let them know what I used work as. They expect me home now," replied the gigantic hulk. "Besides, I already found another job. You can find someone else."

"BUT IT'S TONIGHT!" shouted the curly mop-headed man.

The large man walking didn't hear him or didn't seem to care as he disappeared into the night.

"I'm gonna be fired!" the scrawny man wailed to himself. He looked like he was about to cry.

I almost felt for the dude, I did not want to see that. As a man, it seemed unjust to watch his moment of shame. Hey, I may be young but I knew these things. I was about to creep away when suddenly...

Crack.

You have got to be kidding me.

How did not see that humongous twig?

"Who's there?!"

"No one," I replied dumbly. The guy was so close that if I tried to stay still or get away, he'd see me anyway. He already knew I was there, so why not play around with him?

"Oh," he answered, actually believing me. Was he slow? "Hey, wait just a damned minute! You just fucking answered, GET OUT NOW!" Yup, he was definitely slow.

I laughed. This guy was funny, even when he was mad. I came up from my hiding place and I smirked up at him, "You really fell for that, man?"

He turned a pinkish colour. "What are you doing here?" he barked at me.

I made a sly smile, "I'm just passing by, and now that I have passed by I'll see ya."

He examined me as I turned to leave. As I was walking, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Wait."

"What?"

"You're perfect."

"Excuse me," I made a disgusted face as if I didn't know what he was talking about and made it seem like he wanted to use me for something dirty. I knew he was probably talking about the job the big guy just left. I honestly really could use the money.

But at the same time, I really wanted to mess with the guy. It was just in my personality to try to annoy people. I don't know why, but I honestly full heartedly enjoyed it to no end. No kidding. People (outside my family) like to refer to me as a bad boy, which I find stupid. Yes, I'm snarky, rude, sarcastic, snide, mean, short-tempered, blah, blah-blah, blah....I'm not all that bad. I can be nice to people aside from my family... sometimes.

Okay so I'm not so nice, but it's not like I'm bad to the core. I rest my case.

"You know I didn't mean it like that!" he was now red with annoyance.

I bit back a loud laugh and just snorted. "So what did you mean?"

"I need you to do a job for me. We don't have much time; it's in a half an hour." He said while pulling me by the shoulder away.

"What kind of job?" I implied suggestively. In all honesty, I wanted to just toy with his mind a bit.

"Entertaining women," he stated simply.

I raised an eyebrow.

"Excuse me?"
