Hoping to lighten up the mood, after the unfortunate meeting with the Great Goddess of Evil and Death, Luna and Paloma decide to take Camille for a surprise trip to the Moon Castle. A place full of an elegant glow and energy that helps her alleviates her affliction, but the hurtful words and the disturbing shadows are still very alive in the back of her mind.
Luna's palace is a silent place where the wind whistles as it travels through the open hallways, but the delicate scent of lavender and something quite undescriptive soothes the air. The silver glitter from the moon disperses with the wind. As the three women sit around a fountain of crystal-clear water that mirrors the universe. While Camille struggles with the memory of her close encounter with Axl, Luna decides to help her and not his longtime friend. Although the goddesses can say anything suitable to Axl's expectations, deep down, they've chosen to take Camille's side but watching her shuddered heart worries them because it will only make her a target for the great goddess.
After his conversation with Beldurra, Axl has convinced Luna to take Camille under her care until he can ensure that the shadows stalking her aren't from her mother. He needs to confirm that indeed Camille has managed to trespass to the Gods' World without help. The fact that his mother is willing to negotiate Camille's return to her world intrigues him more than he thought. There's also the possibility that the Great God of Destiny and Life would be meddling because of her. After all, he also wants to control Axl's power.
Moreover, Camille has captivated the God of Water and the rest of the guests in his kingdom. The Goddess of Wind, someone who has seen Axl's many faces, has also become dazzled by Camille's natural grace and elegance. She glances at the dazzling goddesses in disbelief while they sit around her. Her elegance and grace are something unreachable for Camille. She can see the reason Axl has become infatuated with her energy. By looking into her violet eyes, Paloma can see nothing but compassion as she looks into the distance. At the same time, her mind travels dimension to find the boy she feels guilty for. "Everything seems different this time, I admit. I am curious about you," Paloma says honestly, making Camille more uncomfortable. "I can say that there is no other place better for you than here, with him." the goddess says, her gray eyes focus on the faint trail of golden dust that Axl's carriage leaves behind.
Camille says nothing for a moment. Deep down, she feels the same way, even with her friends Paige and Ally. Even with Adam, with her mother, and Jordan, Camille always felt distant and out of place. She couldn't open up to them about her fears, the struggle, and the silent pain. It doesn't matter how patient Adam was, how understanding her friends were. Camille never felt confident enough to say anything. But staying in the water sanctuary means she can be herself; she can enjoy the peaceful energy of this world. Axl did make a reasonable proposition, but this was before Camille found out the truth about her feelings for him before he had taken the extra step waking up her guilt. The thought of betraying Adam has already been torturing her since the moment she let herself be weak and actually enjoyed a kiss from someone else.
"By his side as his entertainment," something is strangely soothing about the silent movement of the wind. A tenderness takes over Camille's soul as she looks into the distance, where she sees nothing but a magical curtain of colorful gases dancing away. Emotional about the sudden turn of events, but she doesn't want the goddess's pity. After all, she's no different from the ones before her. "I don't get it. Why is there a need for offering when he has the nymphs and even you?" Camille's tone becomes evidently bitter with the memory of the great goddess's words.
"Axl's mother is someone you can only fear. Someone that does not have any restriction when it comes to cruelly hurt someone. Unfortunately, Axl..." Luna stops as Paloma glares at her, a slight flinch in her eyes makes Camille aware of their silent argument between the goddesses.
"To be honest, this world is not fair..." Camille breathes out. "It's not fair that I can't keep secrets, but you can," she turns her full attention to the goddesses. A current of wind lifts up a cape of glitter in the air.
"You are correct. This world can possibly be the most unfair world of all," Paloma admits, her eyes looking at Camille's sad expression. Paloma, who dominates the wind, is a goddess just like Axl. She knows every galaxy in the universe, she has had her share of offerings, but this is the first time she's seen Axl desperately try to save someone else. Although there was a time when he could do it, by keeping that certain someone meant he would have to bend to the power of his mother. In the end, Axl decided to sacrifice his happiness to preserve the peace and balance in the universe, but looking at Camille, Paloma can see that this time she might be able to break the curse shielding Axl's heart. For his misfortune, Axl has been born from the pureblood of the great gods. Great gods can't complement each other without breaking the balance of exitance. "To put it simply, Axl is being used," Paloma says, although if Axl finds out that she has told Camille the nature of his destiny, it could end up in an altercation. "To his parents, he is nothing but a source to obtain power," Paloma whispers cautiously as she senses an unfriendly presence closing up to the Moon Palace.
"Ceres?" Luna jumps to her feet. The surprise in her big eyes irritates the always serious Goddess of Nature as she opens a portal in front of them. Ceres glares at the friendly goddesses but makes sure to ignore Camille's presence. She smirks in her natural seductive way, which sends warning signs to her close comrade Paloma. The Goddess of Wind knows Ceres's intentions but refuses to meddle in anything that would cause the break of a terrifying war between the gods. For centuries Paloma has watched Ceres become heartless and impatient when it comes to Axl's decision to help Camille. The Goddess of Nature is not afraid of acting against Axl's will, and as someone as manipulative as his mother, the God of Water has opted for keeping her close by, even if it'll be a risk for Camille.
"I apologize. I have invited myself to the tea reunion," Ceres says sarcastically. Her celadon eyes pierce Camille's innocent soul while she watches her with apprehension. "How lucky of you to sit here and lament your misfortune while he deals with the outcome of your insecurities." Ceres's snappy words surprise Camille.
"Honestly, I do see why he would risk it all for you, a poor human with a tormenting past, someone that does not appreciate the great opportunity in front of her eyes. Perhaps you should go back to your world like her excellency has requested." Ceres imposes herself in front of the goddesses, who she feels superior. "Let me give you and advice, child. Convince him to send you back. Otherwise, you will be responsible for what happens to him." Ceres manages to stir Camille's curiosity again.
"What do you mean?" Camille manages to speak up to the intimidating goddess.
"Ceres, Axl would not like this," Luna warns her. Unfortunately for them, Ceres has sided with the Great Goddess of Evil and Death, which she will take advantage of. She smirks in an evil way that alerts Camille and the goddesses. "Forcing him to be with you or any other is a simple way of punishment from the Great God of Destiny and Life or salvation from the Great Goddess of Evil and Death. Depending on how you see it," Camille turns away from her cold eyes. "Perhaps she will end up punishing him again," Ceres adds with a malicious smile that annoys Luna. The Goddess of the Moon becomes aggravated by Ceres's wicked desire to ruin Axl's happiness.
"I will not tolerate your negative energy in my palace, Goddess of Nature." Luna stands in between Camille and Ceres. Although Luna cares about Ceres the same way she cares for Axl, she will always choose him. Luna had witnessed the great gods' irrational methods to obtain what they deem theirs, even before Axl was born. Ceres's face hardens to see Luna challenging her to protect someone she considers unworthy of his attention.
"Luna has a right to forbid you to enter this kingdom." Paloma tries to keep the peace between the goddess. Although she stands in the same level of power and authority as Ceres, Paloma's kindness stops her from altercating the Goddess of Nature. Unfortunately, Ceres is not the same. She's someone Axl keeps a close watch on for his own good.
"I am the one that will not tolerate this pitiful behavior from any of you. To sit here and pretend that Eirene will not punish him not choosing her side again?" Ceres snaps at her two friends while Camille freezes behind Luna. "That cruel monster has cursed her own son with a darkness that not even she holds the control of," Ceres says with a flat tone that shocks Camille for a moment. She can't imagine Axl being as evil and dark as the Great Goddess of Evil and Death. Even though there are similarities in presence, Axl is kind most of the time. Even when he's upset, he manages to control himself because he knows how much the others fear his anger. Paloma sighs with sadness. She's witnessed Lady Eirene's horrible ways to torture Axl, over and over again.
"When you say curse, what do you mean?" Camille whispers the questions. Although she's afraid of the answer, unconsciously, she wants to know more about Axl. To understand why she feels a connection in the light behind his blue eyes. There's a certain softness that even when he's arrogant and full of himself, deep down, Axl is thoughtful enough to offer her his home, his protection, his world. A place she can be free and never fear anyone or anything ever again.
"Curse him to an eternal life of loneliness. The Great Goddess of Evil and Death has punished Axl by taking the most important thing in his life. Onyx." Ceres explains with a nonchalant tone that even to Camille feels like a sharp knife cutting her chest.
