Alright y'all, time to have a trappin' talk.
Now I don't know about y'all, but I LOVE a good gang book.
Well written gang books always leave me SHOOK and ready for 6 sequels. They're just a real joy to read, especially all the ones with a good romance added into the plot. But my problem lies with the stupid ass names of the rival gang in a PLETHORA of books that I've seen. Now I understand coming up with a catchy, original, suspense building gang name is tough BUUUUUUUUT that's not an excuse for using really corny ass names instead.
***EXAMPLE OF THE BULL***
The gentle breeze dancing through the trees did nothing to cool my burning skin. My body was on fire, every cell that made up my skin set ablaze with the rage that was brewing in my spirit. I could barely see straight, for everything in my path seemed to blur as my vision went red.
I was not angry.
I was not upset.
I was not enraged.
I was fucking awakened.
The demon inside of me, that I so desperately tried to keep hidden, was awake. This demon was not embedded in me by Satan, or placed upon me as a test by the Lord, it was man made by yours truly. I cursed myself with this burden a long time ago by bottling every single unlawful emotion my body could register into the furthest part of my mind and the back of my soul.
I thought it'd be better this way. In my line of work you don't get to have emotions. You don't get time to process how you feel and you don't get to make moves based on sentiment. You either keep your cool or get your fucking head knocked off. But today...all bets were off.
They took the one thing in this world that kept my beast at bay. The one thing that brought even the smallest slither of happiness into my otherwise dull existence.
The one thing that confirmed my inquiries on whether or not I was even really alive.
THEY brought out my monster, and now I'm going to make sure every single one of THEM know exactly how I feel.
THEM...the Beef Lovin' Gang.
***Y'ALL PAUSE😭***
Do y'all see what I'm saying? You see how that stupid ass gang name ruined a (hopefully) suspenseful and juicy moment?
I hate it bruh. It's annoying and happens waaaaaay too often. If any of y'all write a gang book or are currently writing one PLZZZZZZZZZZZZ don't make the names corny. I'd rather have a cliche or simple name then something dumb that takes away from the tone of the book.
Could you imagine though? Fighting someone called the Beef Lovin'." 💀 If I was a gang member and I encountered someone with that name I would give up trappin' and turn my life around JUST because they had the audacity to name themselves that foolishness.
