(Y/n) P.O.V

Hours later...

After my wonderful morning with Dazai, we separated at the end of the street, holding hands. We sweetly kissed each other goodbye, Dazai persistent on not leaving my lips, before we headed of to the Mafia and the Agency. He was going to be staying at the Agency until the early morning with Atsushi, filling in paperwork that had to be finished along with two missions to complete.

"See you soon, love. Text me if you want me."

"Of course I'll want you, Dazai. Today's going to be boring without you anyway."

He smirked," Why am I not surprised?"

I nudged him playfully and left him reluctantly, to go to the Mafia to continue with my executive duties. I knew there was something important I had to deal with.

When I arrived, the Mafia was packed.

I entered through the main doors, the reception area swarmed with fast moving bodies and do panicked calls. I froze for a few seconds and I stood in the doorway, stunned. I wasn't informed about anything that these people had... what had happened?

Confused, I made my way through the sea of bodies, a path being made for me when eyes were laid on me. I weaved my way through in hopes of reaching the elevator that would take me up to Mori to explain this desperate situation.

"Oi! Watch it, dog."

I heard Chuuyas harsh voice above the cluster of people and saw him stepping into the elevator. I ran towards him and managed to join him before the metal doors slammed on me.

"Woah, where did you come from?" Chuuya exclaimed, someone happy to see me. The doors shut tight, my ears now only focusing on Chuuya.

"Ha, good morning. What's up with so many people today?" I asked. Chuuya sighed, brining a hand to massage his temples,
"Mori has ordered everyone to be in full time today and it's not even needed." His tone of voice showed clearly how annoyed he was at the ample amount of workers today. I felt his pain- I never liked it too. Too much hassle.

But something was telling me that this was wrong- this had never happened before.

"I recon something has happened," I stated,"Do you know what's up?"

"Well, Higuchi told me Akutagawa was missing this morning. Also we've found an unknown aircraft in the skies of Yokohama."

"Akutagawa?! Missing?" I say with a frown, disregarding the other information.

"Missing." He repeated, low and almost like a grumble... I froze for a minuet, trying to picture the impossible. Aku has such a violent and deathly Gift that gave him the haunting label he had across Yokohama, so how could he be missing? Even mentioning the unreal thought that Aku might have been defeated, beaten, captured, lost... possibly dead.

I couldn't imagine it at all.

"How is that possible?!" I asked Chuuya in disbelief.

"That's what I though. I saw him leave this morning and he wasn't exactly underprepared. Akutagawa hasn't been ambushed or defeated before, so this doesn't make much sense." Chuuya said, stuffing his hands into his pockets. He seemed just as strained as I did, eyebrows in a fixed frown. My head was now fixed on Akutagawa, my concern for him increasing as each second passed on. What could have possibly happened to him?

The elevator came to a halt, opening to a floor of noticeably less people, and we walked down the corridor, brushing past the people.

"How long has he been of record for?" I ask.

"I don't know... Higuchi has more details about it, I think it might of been something about the mission he was on to steal the Were- Tiger on the docks. It might have gone wrong...Or it could of been that Kyouka traitor." He replied, spitting Kyokas name.

I never saw Kyoka as a traitor, but I knew Chuuya did. I never thought too much about Chuuyas opinion...

"Where is Higuchi?" I ask. Higuchi would ease my concerns and perhaps we would find him together.

"Try the supplies room if you want to find her. I think she was setting of by herself to find him." He muttered, head low. Luckily, we were on the level which the supplies were kept.

"Right, thanks." I said. Before I left, I also wondered about how low Chuuya seemed. His voice was low, he looked slumped and his eyes seemed to avoid me.

"Chuuya?"

"What?" He muttered.

"Why are you so low today?"

He was quite, he didn't move to face me, just looked down.

"We were going on that mission today, but
Mori obviously must have cancelled it because of Akutagawa." He muttered again.

"Oh... Chuuya."

I smiled, at Chuuyas softer and more loving side. I walk over to him, place my hand on his shoulder, and give him a hug.

"That's tomorrow you baby." I whisper to him.

His face sparked to realisation, his hand reaching his face in shame. I laughed at the small moment he had to himself.

"Of course it is... Well, if you're off to find Akutagawa, good luck." Chuuya said, now a smile on his lips. Already, he looked happier and it must have been because he knew he still had our mission to do.

"Haha! I won't need luck, Chuu Chuu. Bye!"

I snickered as I quickly left, Chuuyas face reddening like a tomato.

"D-Don't call me that!!"

***

I stepped into the room and Chuuyas assumption was right- Higuchi was there, stuffing plenty of guns into a black duffle bag when I walked in on her. She was surprised to see me and told me that Akutagawa had been missing for two days.

I joined her immediately, and now she was looking concentrated on the four guns placed in front of her in a perfect row. My arms were crossed as I scanned over her plans on paper in finding Akutagawa. She seemed to figure out that he was located on a port the other side of Yokohama- the same location where the cargo he was on was heading.

"What was the mission for?" I ask.

"He was on a mission to keep hold of Kyouka, and he ran into Atsushi." She replied immediately, as if she said it hundreds of times before.

"Oh." I say.

It was silent again and Higuchi picked up one gun, examined it. She then put all four guns into the duffle bag, since she couldn't make up her mind.

"Guess you never want to be short on guns, right?" I say through a smile. Normally she would have laughed, at least a little. However, her face didn't even twitch.

I sighed. Higuchi wasn't playing around.

"Higuchi, he'll be okay. That demon can't die so easily."

"But its was my job to protect him on that mission." She snapped," And I have failed."

"Higuchi... I understand but things sometimes don't go as planned. Beside, that's what you're gonna do right now, find him and protect him, right?" I replied. I place my hands on the table and gaze at her anxious face. She closed her eyes and nodded, the stress pulling her apart.

"When are we leaving?"

"Tonight," She said, zipping up her bag," When there is less security."

"I'll join you, I'm not doing much tonight." I replied. I could have spent tonight drinking  with Dazai...
But, after all, Akutagawa must come first.

"If you want, (Y/n)." She said, and this time she did smile," You would be a great help."

I smiled back at her.

I knew we would find him, together.

The rest of the day I spent organising paperwork and dealing with the important situation of keeping the security cameras up to scratch. I also had to deal with plenty of workers that were covering for Akutagawas and Huguchis work, informing them on what must be done properly.

Time passes in a heart beat. Higuchi and I were soon to be leaving to find our trusted friend.

***

We left the Mafia at eleven exact.

I wore a long black coat which was unusual for me to wear. It knew the docks became windy and bitter at night from my last experience there when it was later in the evening. Higuchi has also come prepared, wearing a bomber jacket over her usual attire.

We used one of the Mafia cars to take us there, and whilst I drove, Higuchi was flipping through the dock security cameras. She shook her head each time, until she noticed one container contained more padlocks than the overs. Both of us had a feeling something was off with the container and agreed we would investigate it.

Higuchi has told me she thought he had been severely damaged fighting Atsushi, and couldn't make it back to the Mafia for medical needs. At first, I didn't believe it, but then from a little time of wondering, I did start to believe it was a possibility.

Rashomon and the Were-Tiger could be matching like a pair of twins.

I pulled up further away from the Docks, in an alley where our black cat couldn't be seen. As soon as Higuchi stepped foot on the concrete outside, she was off immediately.

"Higuchi!"

I called after her, hoping she would stop. I called after her a few times to watch out for guards knowing that she couldn't easily defend herself, but her desperate need to find her superior blocked me out.

She reached a container and slid her back against the wall, pulling out a machine gun from her duffle bag. I caught up as stood behind her.

"You need to slow down and watch what's around you. Take it slow, you can't protect yourself like us!" I exclaimed, trying to keep her safe. It's not easy to fight with no reliable, murderous, spectacular gift. Therefore, Higuchi would need a lot of cover.

"I need to find him, (Y/n), as soon as possible," She replied, loading her gun with bullets," I don't want him to be hurt."

Higuchi had grown to care more for Akutagawa over the years they had worked together. At first, Akutagawa had pure burning hatred for her. He hated the fact that anyone thought he should be protected, believing it made him weak. Eventually, he overcome that, and... well, despised her less.

"Over there, gate 2B, I'm going in." She ran towards the gate, gun positioned in her grasp.

"Its suicide you non gifted human!" I exclaimed as quietly as possible. I wondered why she didn't ask for more backup as I swiftly follow Higuchi in the midnight shadows.

The moon was blanching the sea and the corners of the metal containers on the port, our only source of light. The container where he might have been located in was 2B- the only one out of the ample amount of padlocked enormous containers with the doors creaked open. It was obvious that it was in use for something...

She was far ahead of me, her back already sliding against the edge of the door of 2B, eyes peering into the darkness of the container. I ran to catch up with my blonde friend, the cold air blowing around my neck.

I was nearing her until she threw a small pocket grenade, and a second later flames of orange and yellow blasted out from the container with the familiar bellowing booming sound that shook our bodies.

I skidded.

Did Higuchi hear people inside?!

Thick clouded smoke poured out, and Highuchi swiftly advanced. I groaned to myself and kicked up the pace. Who knew how many people were there.

Suddenly, I had to stop.

"Fuck!"

A jolt of burning pain ripped through my arms.

I fell to the floor, biting my lip to hold in my cry of agony.

I stumbled to another container where I could hide, collapsing as I felt the pain spread through me.

"Holy fuck... what's happening..." I groan.

I breathed. Stopped. Breathed again.

But the burn and the throbbing moved through me like a body of water flowing through me.

"Agh..."

I couldn't help but let out a cry as I struggle to keep on my knees. I eventually relaxed on the ground, letting it take me.

For five minuets I was there, letting the pain tear me a part, cold and confused. As much as I was in pain, I couldn't help but think of leaving Higuchi as I listened to the gunfire echoing inside the container.

"I have to find her..."

I lifted myself up, screaming in agony. My limbs were burning... why was the happening?

Slowly I rose on two feet, one foot stumbling in front of the other. The pain didn't subside much as I advanced to 2B.

The sound of gunfire drilled into my ears as I held onto the door frame. I was ready to call on the shadows if I could, but I paused when my eye had caught sight of the Gin, the Black Lizard and Tachihara following Higuchi.

So, she already had back up?

I frowned, and called out in a mix emotion of disgust and disbelieve.

"What was the point of me coming then?!" I yell, arms out wide, still leaning on the door. I regretted it as soon as I did, my chest ripping apart again. I put a hand over my chest and bite my lip, hard, waiting for it to go again.

Tachihara saw me with his crew, and smirks with a mocking wave. In returned I stick my middle finger up to him. He was a friend where you could call him a son of a bitch and he wouldn't even care.

I sigh, and tried to proceed anyway, thinking about the drinks I could of been downing with Dazai right now, or the cuddles I could be having.
Or the pain I might not be in.

God, this cursed pain.

As I slowly walked inside I noticed a swam of  guards. So that's where they all were- they were surrounded by large wooden crates and metal boxes spread around the container. I grunted and wrapped my hand around the trigger, aiming a gun at a easy, defenceless target. I fired without hesitation, the impact in my hand and the bang filling my ears too familiar and too enjoyable. He collapsed with a string of red flying from his chest above his heart with a thump, completely oblivious. I smirked.

However, everyone seemed to freeze when I fired. Even Higuchi was on pause. It was like a war zone had seen a disaster. I felt a little pressured, yet terribly confused.

"Never seen a gifted Mafia member use a gun before?" I ask, wondering is that was the problem. The situation stayed the same. No one moved. I grunted and chucked the gun to the side.
It was useless to me anyway. I held my hands out in front of me as if I was holding something.

"Rather me use my gift?" I taunt, a smirk.

"Kill her!" I hear a distant call.

Ah, so they recognised me finally.

And the drilling gun fire repeated immediately. A wave of my hand and a shadow wall blocked the piercing metal bullets from ripping my skin. Instead, they vanished into the darkness, leaving me scratchless. Then, I hear a yelp, and the gunfire stops. Frowning, I dismiss my defence, to see Higuchi on the floor, blood pouring from her shoulder.

My mouth dropped, and my shocked blended into anger right as I was about to summon a demonic side of my ability to protect her, until,

"KILL EVERYONE YOU DONT RECOGNISE."

Tachihara.

I turned around, and sure enough, he was there with hitmen he had called to wipe out the enemies like they were dust on the wall. The help was perfect- with Gin slaughtering, the Black Lizard overpowering, Tachihara stabbing, the hitmen firing, the bodies kept falling to the ground like dominos. I smirked as my eye landed on one last hopeless target, hiding around the corner of a crate, my hand raising and the shadows twisting between my fingers to unleash onto the body.

Sure, it killed him.

However...

My body had stopped at the sight of my gift.

No.

"(Y/n)! What the heck w-was that?" I hear Higuchi struggle to stutter out from the floor she was on, trying to sit up in the corner of my eye. I felt my hands shake, my legs weaken, my mind becoming unstable.

Everything was going so well...

"I-" I failed to explain. My mind ignored the warzone around me, it blocked out the guns, the falling bodies, the blood.
The pain returned.

"You....You..." Higuchi stuttered. I could feel Higuchi horrified glare on the side of my face, piercing into me as I watched the body metre away from me spill crimson blood, lifeless and dead.

"You're going to d-die, (Y/n)."

Of course.

I told her later today, just before we were leaving. I told her everything the president had said to me. And she was right.

This was it.

This was the mark of the beginning of waiting for my death.

My life's' timer starts ticking now.

"(Y/n).... you need help," she coughed out, hand holding her punctured leaking shoulder, "now."

I felt a hot tear of fear gently fall down my cheek, and land onto the cold concrete in front of my frozen body.

"Go to Mori, (Y/n)...now!"

I couldn't. I couldn't move.

My darkness...was completely blanched white.

What was happening? It was fine a second ago!

No. No, its creeping up on me. It's still here. It's still diseased into my gift. I needed help. I need saving...

My mind fixed on Dazai, his gorgeous face, his chestnut eyes ands hair, and I accidently cried out loud.

"NOW!" She screamed.

I don't think I turned and ran for my life faster before.
