Chapter 5: Unconditionally
Sarah's POV
Ang sakit talaga ng ulo ko ngayon. Nakakainis kasi itong kapartner ko saakin lahat pinapaasa.
Nandito ako ngayon sa lounge ng university, nagttype sa laptop ko ng report namin.
“Sabihin mo sa akin pag natapos ka na, ako nalang ang magpapasa kay Sir Panganiban.” sabi nitong mukhang unggoy ko na kapartner.
I rolled my eyes pretending not to care.
“Narinig mo ako?” tanong niya sa akin.
“No.”
“Psh. So ayun nga, sabi ko-----”
“Ulitin mo, wala pa din akong pakielam.” sabi ko sabay inayos 'yung reading glasses ko.
“Ang angas mo ah!” nilapitan niya ako kaya tumingin ako sa kanya.
“Oh? then what happens next? You'll beat the sh*t outta me?”
Tinignan niya lang ako ng masama.
“Wag mo akong tignan ng masama, Jeremy. Kung gusto mo akong tulungan dito sa report NATIN, you're free to help and if not, get the hell outta here and expect sir to give you a failing grade.”
Lumabas nalang siya without a word, habang ako mas lalong uminit ang ulo ko.
Wow, wala talaga siyang balak na tulungan ako.
Bahala siya, atleast ako may 1.0 na ako dito.
“SARAH!”
“Ay tokneneng!”
Napalingon ako sabay nag-iba ang expression ng mukha ko.
“What do you want?” tanong ko sa kanya.
“Before I answer your question, HAHAHAHAHAHA! You craving for some tokneneng?”
*POK*
“Shut up, Liam! Oh bakit ka nga nandito?”
Tumabi siya sa akin sabay kumuha ng chips na nasa tabi ko.
“Nakita mo ba 'yung bestfriend mo?”
Napaisip ako. Oo nga 'noh? I haven't seen Ella since yesterday.
“Hindi pa nga eh, since yesterday pa. Bakit?”
“Tumawag sa akin si Kuya Kris, he told me na hindi pa daw nakakauwi si Ella.”
“WHAT?!”
“Chill the hell down, Sarah!” sabi niya kaya napaupo ako.
“Ganito kasi iyun, nasa bahay namin si Ella kahapon. Nilutuan niya si Kuya at si Mama ng pagkain tapos tinanong sa akin ni Mama kung nasaan si Kuya Dale tas ayun sabi ko na kasama niya si Lianne sa ice cream parlor----”
“DOUBLE WHAT?!”
“Kumalma ka nga, bubuhusan na kita nitong iniinom ko eh!”
I rolled my eyes sabay tumingin nalang sa malayo.
“So ayun, after that we thought Ella went home already but Kuya Dale told me that Ella was at the ice cream parlor. He told Ella to go home dahil nabwiset si Kuya for sabotaging their date with Lianne.”
Oh crap.
Inayos ko na agad-agad 'yung mga gamit ko sabay napatayo na.
“You have your car?” tanong ko kay Liam.
“Yeah why?”
“Let’s go.”
Liam's POV
Kasama ko ngayon si Sarah. Gotta admit, medyo matino din pala itong babaeng ito pag seryoso siya.
Hawak niya ngayon ang laptop niya at kasalukuyang nagttype.
“Saw the sign that there will be a 15 km drive to Pico de Loro?” tanong sa akin ni Sarah.
“Yeah.”
“Go left doon sa sign na papunta sa bayan ng Nasugbu.” sabi ko kaya sinunod ko siya.
“Damn it, bakit tayo nasa Batangas? Don't tell me you're going to take advantage of me!”
Dahil doon ay hinampas ako ni Sarah ng libro.
“You gay?” tanong sa akin ni Sarah.
Dahil doon ay natawa nalang ako.
Sarah took a sip of her coffee from starbucks sabay tumingin sa akin.
“Hey Liam, hindi ka ba galit sa kuya mo?”
Dahil doon ay kumunot ang noo ko.
“Why should I?”
“Kasi he almost got everything, I mean no offense pero nasa kanya na ang attention ng parents mo.”
“Nah. I understand. And no, I'm not. Pero there is a part in my heart that I'm mad at him.”
I saw her half-smiled and looked at the road.
“Alam mo ba, malaki ang galit ko diyan sa kapatid mo.”
I chuckled.
“Why?”
She once again took a sip of her coffee and moved her laptop away.
“Ella.” all she ever said.
Dahil doon ay hindi ko na kailangan intindihin pa ang sinabi niya.
“That's the reason why I hate him. He already has Ella. Ano pa ang hahanapin niya? I could already beat him para marealize niya na kung gaano kaspecial si Ella.”
Dahil doon ay nawiden ang ngiti ni Sarah.
“You like her don't you?”
And that was the question I was trying to avoid.
“Yes, but I like her in a way that it would not be more than just that.”
“Good.”
“Why good?”
“You know who she likes and if ever you like her in a way that Ella likes Dale, I don't want you to be a fragile vase.”
“Sarah?” I called her.
“Yep?”
“Thanks.” I glanced at her for a second.
“For what?”
“For the starbucks.” Well actually I was thanking her for the things she said pero I think it's not the right time to thank her for that.
“O-oh. He he. No problem. It's my thank you na din for driving me to Ella.”
Yes, we are going to Ella. Alam kasi ni Sarah kung saan pumupunta in times na malungkot si Ella. Ella became a habit in going to the peak ever since she started driving, which was just a year ago.
It took us 15 minutes para makarating sa peak. We saw Ella's car na din na nakapark.
Pagkababa namin sa kotse, napatingin ako sa isang babae na may hawak na Mrs. Fields na ice cream na may katabi na tissue at picture frame.
“Why am I this stupid for falling for him? Damn you, friggin heart.” hinawakan niya ang dibdib niya sabay humikbi.
“Ako na ang bahala dito.” Sarah whispered.
Tumango nalang ako sabay sumandal sa kotse ko and watched Sarah make her move.
If only I was Dale, she wouldn't suffer what she is going through right now. I maybe an ass but this piece of dick knows how to love.
Sarah's POV
I sighed. I don't want to see my bestfriend like this.
“Shortcake.” I called her.
Napalingon siya sa akin sabay tumayo at niyakap ako.
“Sarah. Good thing you're here.” she cried in my shoulders.
“Akala ko ba, you can handle all the pain?”
“It doesn't mean na hindi ako nagtitiis sa sakit.” and then she cried once again.
“Shhh.” I hushed.
“I'll drive you home. Nag-aalala na sa iyo si Kuya Kris. Ano ang ginawa mo dito buong araw?” tanong ko sa kanya.
“Eat ice cream, bought take out food before I go here and then just cry myself to sleep.”
“Oh shortcake.”
“I'm Ella Vista and I told you I can handle the pain.” she smiled.
But I know behind that smile is a girl that looks like fighting on cancer.
Sumakay na si Ella sa kotse habang ako ay tumingin muna sa isang honda civic na nakapark malapit sa main road.
Lumapit ako sabay ngumiti doon sa nakasandal sa kotse na iyun.
“Thanks a lot, Liam. So ano? convoy ah. Ako na ang magddrive sa kotse ni Ella. Ingat sa pagddrive ah?”
“You too.” he smiled sabay sumakay na sa kotse niya.
Sumakay na ako sa kotse ni Ella and started to turn the engine.
“Was that Liam?” tanong ni Ella habang pinupunas yung mata niyang namumugto.
“Yeah. I owe him for driving me all the way here.”
“Aww. Sweet, kayo ah!” she smiled like the “heart eyed” emoji.
“Oh grabe ka, Ella! It was just a friendly thing he did.”
“Friendly? Hahahaha, ok. Whatever you say.” she giggled.
Hindi nalang ako nagsalita.
I totally forgot that I was going to be a hot headed on boys.
I guess Liam is not one of them after all, well I sure hope so.
Dale's POV
Nandito kami ngayon sa dining room namin, dinner na at wala pa din si Liam.
“Anak, can you call your brother? It's already 8, hindi pa siya nagpapaalam sa akin kung nasaan siya in this time of night. I'm starting to worry.” sabi ni Mama kaya tumango ako.
Kinuha ko 'yung phone ko sa pocket ko sabay dinial ang number ni Liam.
Out of reach.
“Out of reach, Ma. Lowbat na siguro.”
“Oh shoot!” My 14 year old sister stood up from her chair.
“What's the problem, sweety?” tanong ni Mama.
“I forgot to tell you. Kuya Liam texted me and he said that he is in Batangas with Ate Sarah. He will explain what happened when he gets home.”
“What? Bakit siya nasa Batangas?” react ni Mama.
“Woah? At kasama niya pa talaga si Sarah. Tsk, tinik talaga.”
“Pakainin kita diyan ng tinik.”
Napalingon kami sa nagsalita.
Si Liam.
“Hi family!” he greeted sabay umupo sa tabi ni Elisa.
“Ikaw! Bakit ka nasa Batangas?” turo ni Mama kay Liam.
“Sinundo po namin ng bestfriend niya si Ella.” sabi niya sabay sumubo ng kinakain niya.
“Ano?” reaction naming tatlo.
“You guys deaf or what? Oo, sinundo namin si Ella.”
“Talagang ikaw bata ka. Bakit niyo sinundo? Why is Ella in Batangas? Bakit hindi ka nakapagpaalam sa akin?”
“Woah woah! Teka Ma! Mahina ang kalaban! Ganito kasi iyun, remember yesterday Ella went here to drop by some foods for you and Dale? So yun nga, she did not went home after that, she went straight to Dale and Lianne's “date” and after the short commotion she went to the peak in Batangas.”
Dahil doon ay hindi na nagsalita si Mama.
“Sarap ng luto ni Ella ah!” sabi ni Liam.
Napatingin ako sa plato ko. And I realized that I was eating what Ella cooked all along.
Nasarapan pa ako.
I didn't know na nilutuan niya pala ako ng pagkain.
“Excuse me. Aakyat na po ako.” sabi ko sabay tumayo.
“Sige Dale, Goodnight.” sabi ni Mama kaya ngumiti nalang ako.
I sighed. If only I have the guts to thank her for that.
But I'm assure, that I'm the reason why she went to the peak.
Ano ba yan, nakakaguilt naman!
Ella's POV
“Where have you been?!!!” pasigaw na tanong sa akin ni Kuya.
“Sa peak!” sigaw ko galing sa CR.
“Hay nako, Ella! Dapat nagpaalam ka sa akin! Muntikan na akong mamatay sa pag-alala sa iyo!”
Lumabas ako sa CR sabay hinagis sa kanya 'yung towel.
“Kuya, I'm alright! I'm sorry so please, stop! I need some rest!” sabi ko sabay humiga sa kama ko.
Lumabas na si kuya kaya nakahinga na ako ng malalim.
Kinuha ko 'yung phone ko at sinaksak ang earphones ko sa tenga ko.

Napatigil ang kanta dahil may tumatawag.
Hindi ko na tinignan ang caller ID. Basta sinagot ko nalang.
“Hello?”
[“H-Hello, Ella you still awake?”]
And just then my world fell apart but my heart was jumping for joy.

I'm back with another update! I told you guys I'm going to be active this summer. Good thing it's the weekend and we don't have practices. I'm just laying in my bed, eating peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich while listening to Michael Buble's songs.
