"Mom!" I shouted in disbelief.

"Honey, please...Don't argue with me this time. Jamie was nice enough to let us stay for a while...Don't look at me like that," she said, pulling out her phone to avoid my gaze. "Oh look at that!" she said suddenly. "Grandma's calling!...Hello?" she walked off, smiling at me in a suspicious manner.

I sat down with a huff and crossed my arms angrily. James came and sat down next to, with a Milky Way Midnight Chocolate bar in his hand. "Hey," he said, taking a bite with a grin.

"Don't talk to me," I mumbled, staring down at the floor.

"Why not? I'm doing you a favor," he said, laughing lightly. "Want some?" he asked, pushing the candy bar towards me. "Your mom told me they were your favorite."

"You already bit that you disgusting piece of-". Before I could say any more, he shoved the bar into my mouth. I spit it out disgustedly and turned to him disbelievingly. "What the f-? Who the hell do you think you are?"

"Had to shut you up," he said simply. He walked off towards my mother while I spit out the dark chocolate in my mouth.

"Well, our plane's here," my mother said cheerfully. She walked towards me to which I only stormed past her and to the terminal.

As I took the nearest seat to the window, James flopped down next to me. I rolled my eyes and ignored him, scooting towards the window, while I heard the flight attendant murmur something about buckling up into the intercom. I looked toward the belt buckle and grabbed at it quickly, having no previous experience with planes before.

James looked down at me disgustedly and grabbed it from me gently, having more mercy to the belt than my hand, which he clutched harshly. "It's like this," he said with a smirk, buckling the belt at the other side of my waist.

I smirked back, too embarrassed to do anything else. "Hey, hotshot, if you're so rich, why didn't we get 'cabin seats'," I said, sneering and putting up the quotes sign.

"Because Chrystal," he said, with much emphasis on her name I noticed, "didn't want me to burden myself with the expense." He paused and continued, "And trust me, I could have had it first class, baby. I'm a MPPE...." He looked me up and down and whispered, patting my head, "A Mileage Plus Premier Executive...Google it."

I rolled my eyes and turned away, not knowing what the hell he was talking about, and wondering whether I really should Google it or not. I looked out the window and gulped. We weren't even in the air and I felt like I was going to throw up already. I held my breath and hoped I wouldn't barf my first time on a plane.

I turned to James. He widened his eyes and said, "What?"

Without warning, I opened my mouth and let go.

"WHAT THE-!!!?"

Later that night, I slept on the couch. It was white leather, recently covered in plastic after my incident. I smiled to myself. I felt groggy and my stomach was still swirling, but I still celebrated my expert aim.

My mother came from the kitchen in James's condo and had a wet cloth in her hand. She smiled at me and gently placed it on my forehead. "How are you feeling, honey?"

"Better," I said, smiling to myself. "...I would feel better if we were at home," I admitted with an innocent voice.

"Oh, don't," my mother sighed.

"What? Why can't we go back? Why do we have to live here with Mr. Trump?" I heard a cough from the kitchen and James came into the bathroom doorway with his shirt off. He looked at me as he brushed his teeth and frowned.

As soon as my mother turned away he flicked me off. I flicked him off right back...Unfortunately my mother had turned back around by that time and slapped my hand gently. "Mirage apologize to your father...I mean-I..." She stopped and stared to the floor.

James slowly continued brushing his teeth and stepped back into the bathroom, silently shutting the door.

It was deathly quiet. "What did you just say?" I asked, in a voice that even chilled myself.

"....I....It was a mistake Mirage...Don't overreact," my mother said, trying to remain cool.

"So is this why you wanted to come here? To get away from Dad?"

"No," she said quietly. "It's not that....Your father lives miles away.."

"Yeah, and it's not exactly like he's chasing after you either," I mumbled under my breath.

"Ouch...That was a bit harsh," my mother said with a heartless laugh.

"He's not my dad," I said simply, turning away.

"What?" my mother asked, leaning in closer. "Speak up."

"I SAID," I began, loud enough for James to hear. "That DOUCHE BAG is NOT my DAD!!" I shouted out. It was pure anger that took over, I hadn't even meant to say all of that.

I heard the brushing stop and the faucet keep running. Seconds later, James came with a towel over his shoulder and wiped his mouth. He silently stepped into his room and slammed the door.

I cringed at the slam and turned back to the couch. My mother stared at me angrily. "You didn't have to bring him into this, Mirage. James didn't do anything."

"He's here, that's bad enough," I mumbled.

I heard a door bang open and out came James, still shirtless, which strangely set my heart pounding and I shook as he approached. "Oh yeah, Princess? Well you can leave, the door's right over there." He pointed to the door and gave me a daring look.

I turned away with a scoff.

"James," my mother said, shocked. "What's the matter with you? You can't just kick her out!"

James looked down at her slowly and swallowed what seemed like a huge gulp of anger. I watched as his Adam's Apple bobbed up and down, wondering what he would say. Suddenly, he smiled. He grabbed her hand. "Are you coming to bed?"

My mother blushed and patted his chest. "In a bit," she murmured, her face a deep cherry.

"Okay," he said, grinning broadly. "Take your time..." He looked at me with an annoyed look and then turned away.

"Disgusting," I mumbled, turning away.

My mother sighed and grabbed James's arm, and together they walked away, my mother whispering, "Good night," and James turning off the light.

As I snuggled onto the couch in the thick blanket James had provided, I couldn't help but realize that the feeling that outweighed the rest wasn't disgust, or anger...but jealousy. I turned to the balcony overlooking the city and shut my eyes tightly.

I woke up with a sigh and pulled out my cell phone. 3:30AM. I looked around, stretching, and then flopped back down as I realized I was still alone and in the dark. I slowly walked up to the balcony and looked over. The street below was still busy, mainly with taxis and other vehicles, but I sensed a sort of silence about it. It was relaxing, but also had an eerie feel to it.

I leaned over the balcony, too sad to realize I was deathly afraid of heights and how dangerously close I was getting to jumping over completely. I felt the cool air whip my face and shut my eyes. It was all so peaceful, I just felt like falling....Falling.

Suddenly, my stomach didn't feel the hard edge against it any more. My arms waved wildly around me as I realized I was nearly tipping over. I screamed silently and tears of panic rushed to my eyes. I tried to feel at the cool cement under my feet but all I felt was air as I keeled over towards the edge. I was...falling.

I heard a grunt as somebody grabbed me tightly around the waist and pulled me back. I whimpered as I fell face forward onto somebody. I was too afraid to open my eyes, so instead, kept them closed.

Until, somebody shouted, "Are you okay?! Hey! HEY!" I felt a few hard thumps on my back and awoke with a jolt.

I looked into James golden eyes and for once felt relieved to see them. I grabbed him and hugged him close.

He had just save my life. Me.

"Thank-you...Thank-you so much.." I murmured into his bare chest. I didn't care anymore.

For a while James lay there, limp, just letting me cling to him. Then I slowly felt arms close around my waist and he held me tight. I nearly wanted to cry, I felt so happy to actually be there with the douche I had just hated hours ago.

After a few more minutes of holding each other close, I snapped back to reality and pulled away, wiping away my tears self-consciously.

James looked intensely at me for a few more seconds. "Are you okay?" he asked in a quiet, mysteriously gruff voice.

I nodded and hugged my knees against the balcony. He pulled me back and said, "Stay away from there.."

I just sat there as he pulled me close to his side. A few seconds later, the warm sensation that rushed inside me froze as he said harshly, "What the HELL is wrong with you anyway?!...Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" he shouted.

"Shut up," I murmured.

He looked at me in disbelief. "That's how you repay me?"

"No," I said quickly. "I just meant my mom is asleep and she'll hear...I don't want her to be worried," I mumbled.

He silently agreed.

I tried to stand but my knees only buckled and I fell back onto my butt. I tried again, with the same results.

The third time I tried, James caught me before I fell. He pulled up my legs and carried me into the house. I was surprised to see him taking me into the second room and not onto the couch this time.

As he carried me, we looked into each others' eyes...I felt like he was drawing me into their honey colored pools with a magnet, I just couldn't stop looking away. He placed me on the bed and gently pulled the blanket up to my stomach. I looked at him, and he at me.

I shook as he leaned close to me. His amber eyes were intensified by the darkness of the room and all I could see of his features, his lips, nose, dark brown hair; was a shadowy silhouette as he came closer and closer.

We were inches away...A breath away...Lips away...

I took a deep breath and waited...

Waited.

I felt the softness of his lips before I could think about pulling back. I slowly, slowly inserted my lips into his and kissed him. He paused, and then with the same slowness, leaned forward with his hands on both sides of me, and, still sitting on the edge of the bed, returned my kiss.

It was so peaceful, so slow and sure, that I almost wanted to wrap my arms around his neck. So I did. And even though my heart was pounding so fast I thought it would stop altogether, I continued that slow, easy pace with him, him occasionally sucking softly on my bottom lip.

Finally, after I felt like my heart would swell if I did any more, I pulled off and leaned against the head board. James also fell back and sat quietly on the side of the bed.

It was so beautifully quiet that I almost didn't want to ruin the silence, so I only scooted toward him. He looked at me with an expression I couldn't read and caressed my hand softly, almost as if he were reading it.

I held my breath as he leaned toward me again. This time, he only held a lock of my hair near my shoulders and pushed it back, my shoulder bare except for the thick Nike tank top strap. I felt like my head was swirling.

Then, before I could grab at his hand, he stood, and silently, with the swishing sound of his slipper-covered footsteps, stepped out of the room and closed the door halfway.

I let go of my breath and fell back against the pillow.
