As the dark mass plummeted towards the subway, Graves and Newt cowered as their impending doom descended rapidly. Newt clenched onto (Name) tightly and squeezed his eyes shut, but all became still as a loud voice echoed over the tracks:

"CREDENCE, NO!" Loud footsteps pattered along the train tracks as Tina ran. The Obscurus froze at the sound of her voice, stopped inches away from the petrified face of Mr. Graves. It rose slowly, and the creature's calmed, its ashes flowing slowly within the dark mess. Tina looked into its clouded eyes, walking toward it slowly. "Don't do this- please."

"Keep talking, Tina. Keep talking to him- he'll listen to you. He's listening." Newt encouraged her as he cradled his best friend in his arms; he stood up off of the tracks.

Tina's efforts to calm were achieving great things, as Credence's form now reached out toward the woman, desperate for her unconditional kindness for him.

"I know what that woman did to you... I know that you've suffered... You need to stop this now... We will protect you..." Tina said gently, gesturing to herself and her pair of friends on the tracks. Her movements became harsh as she pointed to Graves; "This man- he's is using you-"

"Don't listen to her, Credence. I want you to be free. It's all right," Graves interrupted, riling up the boy. Tina,however, stepped forward, and Credence became calm again, shrinking down further into his human form.

"That's it..." Tina encouraged. She stepped forward again, but dozens of Aurors began to quickly trickle through the subway tunnel and down the platform steps, yanking out their wands and pointing them, almost accusingly, toward the Obscurial. Tina, on the brink of tears, cried out; "Shh! Dont! You'll frighten him." Credence, however, was intimidated by the intrusion of the foreign wizards, and he disintegrated into a whining, swollen mass once again. Tina stood in front of him, desperately trying to protect him with her small form. A stumbling Newt followed soon after; he had placed (Name) against a sturdy pillar to keep her out of harm's way. Graves aggressively yelled toward the Aurors, pointing his wand at them.

"Wands down! Anyone harms him- they'll answer to me," Graves turned back to the forming Obscurial, "Credence!"

"Credence..." Tina muttered, before gasping at the bombardment of spells that began to litter across the Obscurus' form. Graves yelled, but his cry was drowned out by the excruciating scream that erupted from Credence's alter form, the ground shuddering in accordance. The spells, unfortunately, didn't cease until the creature suddenly imploded into a blinding ball of white light, causing all onlookers to stumble back in shock. The light faded in an instant, and the only remnants of Credence's monster was its destruction and the dark ashes that floated in wisps to the ground. Newt stood, teetering on his feet slightly, as he took in the emotionally draining experience he witnessed. Tina was on the floor, sobbing quietly as she crumbled deeper into the floor.

"You fools! Do you realise what you've done?" Graves barked, his face the epitome of disgust. Madam Picquery walked out from behind her Aurors. Graves' expression remained grotesque.

"The Obscurial was killed on my orders, Mr. Graves," Picquery said sternly. Graves scoffed.

"Yes. And history will surely note that, Madam President." He threateningly moved toward her. "What was done here tonight was not right!"

"He was responsible for the death of a No-Maj. He risked the exposure of our community. He has broken one of our most sacred laws-" Madam Picquery was interrupted by a grim laugh.

"A law that has us scuttling like rats in the gutter! A law that demand that we conceal our true nature! A law that direct those under its dominion to cower in fear lest we risk discovery! I ask you, Madam President- I ask all of you- who does this law protect? Us?" He gestured upward to the No-Majs on the streets above them," Or them?" He simpered. "I refuse to bow down any longer." He began walking away from the Aurors.

"Aurors, I'd like you to relieve Mr. Graves of his wand and escort him back to-" A wall of white magic blocked Graves and halted Madam Pciquery's words. Graves sneered, turned back toward the Aurors, and fired spell after spell toward them, parrying any and every spell that made its way to his figure.

Whipping out a familiar bud, Newt threw it towards Graves, releasing the Swooping Evil from its confines. It twirled around Graves, and Newt fired a rope-like magic that wrapped itself around Graves. He struggled against the magic, but it prevailed, and he fell to his knees. Tina accioed his wand and Graves glared hatefully at her and Newt. The pair stepped cautiously toward him. "Revelio," Newt cast, and Graves' face began to contort. His hair became a platinum blond, and his eyes a pale blue. Aurors began whispering, as his true identity was the same of that of the criminal in the papers: Grindelwald. He grinned.

"Do you think you can hold me?" Grindelwald sneered.

"We'll do our best, Mr. Grindelwald," Madame Picquery responded. He glared at her, a small smirk forming on his thin lips. Two Aurors dragged him onto his feet and toward the steps of the subway. Grindelwald passed Newt and Grindelwald paused in front of him.

"Will we die, just a little?" Grindelwald questioned, before continuing to be dragged up the stairwell. Newt blinked a few times, contemplating his words, before shaking his head, turning to the location where (Name) was. He rushed over to her unconscious form, gently placing a scarred hand to her forehead. She made no acknowledgment to the gesture, but her calm breathing gave Newt enough information on her current state. He smiled bitterly at her disheveled form, carefully pushing some hair behind her ear and putting a thumb on her cut lip. He sighed and started tending to his (Name)'s wounds.

A few minutes after the scene had calmed down, Queenie and Jacob arrived. The sisters immediately latches onto each other in a hug, and Jacob walked over to Newt and a still-unconscious (Name). "Hey... I figured somebody oughta keep an eye on this thing," Jacob joked, and he handed it Newt. Newt thanked him wholly, and Jacob frowned at his unconscious friend. Opening his mouth to speak, Jacob was interrupted by Madam Picquery;

"We owe you an apology, Mr. Scamander. But the magical community is exposed! We cannot Obliviate an entire city." A silence rippled through the subway as Newt gazed at the gaping hole in the roof. His head snapped back toward the magical president.

"Actually, I think we can."
~~~
Newt's case laid open on the floor underneath the hole in the roof. Bright gold feathers burst out of it as the fantastic beast pushed its massive wings upwards. The Thunderbird beat its wings and hovered magnificently above the crowd, and Newt walked toward him, carefully placed a hand upon his beak. He looked into its eyes, and pride filled his features. "I was intending to wait until we got to Arizona, but it seems like now you are our only hope, Frank." The creature pushed into Newt's hand, closing his eyes solemnly, before opening them to look at Newt's companion laid against the wall. It chirped at her sadly. "We'll both miss you too," Newt said, frowning slightly. Newt stepped back, and held a flask of glowing blue liquid out to the Thunderbird. "You know what you've got to do." He threw it into the air, and with a cry, Frank caught it, soaring gracefully out of the train station. Loud shrieks and awed yells reached Newt's ears as the muggles above him watched the beast rise higher into the air. Storm clouds began to form with every wingbeat, and with a bright flash, heavy rain began to fall.
~~~
As the rain fell across New York, it coated the streets and people with a glistening sheen, relieving them of their bad memories. Aurors walked about, repairing the damage done by the Obscurus. The people around the subway, who once looked on at the scene in terror, became confused, and returned to their former tasks or hustled out of the pouring rain. The rain continued, and as the final repairs were made, the Thunderbird soared higher. Into the clouds. Into the dawn.
~~~
"They won't remember anything. That venom has incredibly powerful Obliviative properties," Newt explained. Madam Picquery looked at him, quite impressed.
"We owe you a great debt, Mr. Scamander. Now- get that case out of New York."
"Yes, Madam President." Newt bowed his head slightly, and Madam Picquery began walking away. Her strides paused, however, and she turned back to the group. Queenie hastily moved in front of Jacob.
"Are those No-Majs still here?" Picquery looked at Jacob, then (Name) who was stirring slightly but still oblivious to the commotion around her. "Obliviate them. There can be no exceptions." She looked at them sorrowfully. "I'm sorry- but even one witness... you know the law." She paused once more. "I'll let you say good-bye." She turned and left.
Silence filled the subway as the group stood and stared at one another in disbelieving grief. A groan interrupted the silence, and a slapping sound was heard as a hand's palm hit a throbbing forehead. "Merlin's beard, I bloody hate those Wrackspurts. Blimin' heck-" (Name) was abruptly silenced as Newt leapt onto her slouched body. She whined and winced in pain, gently patting her friend's head as he gripped onto her tightly. She looked at Tina confusedly. "What'd I miss?" Tina weakly smiled at her, let out sob, and soon joined Newt in hugging (Name). "Okay, I am all about sentiment and whatever, but can someone please explain to me why it looks like someone died?" Tina and Newt let go of her, and while Tina stood up and stepped back, Newt remained crouched next to (Name)'s form.
"Erm... I- Well..." Newt sniffled.
"Oh Merlin, someone did die! Are my babies okay?" (Name) looked panicked as she scrambled to get up and move toward the case. Newt chuckled slightly and pushed her back down, and sad smile remaining on his features.
"No no, our babies are okay. Frank is gone, though. I used the serum you made and he cleared everything up outside. He wasn't happy to leave you, " Newt laughed bitterly and turned his face away from (Name). She sighed, and looked at his face longer. (Name) didn't believe that that was it.
"I know that's not the whole of it. Come on, spit it out." (Name) insisted impatiently. Newt looked at her again and cleared his throat.
"You're going to have to forget, (Name). You're going to have to forget it all."
