5 Months (Summer)After 12th Birthday
Today was supposed to be mom and dad's 17th anniversary, every year all 4 of us would go out to eat or go watch a movie together. I thought dad would want to continue this even though mom isn't with us anymore.
It was about 9 am when I woke up. I got dressed into some leggings and a tank top and went downstairs to get some breakfast when I saw something strange.
It was dad. He was asleep on the couch, there were also a bunch of beer bottles and cans spread all across the foot of the couch next to him. I guess dad won't be going to work today. I wanted to do something special for him since it looked he was having a hard time. I ended up making him pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and some toast. After i was done cooking the food the food on a plate and set it on the kitchen table. I also made a little note to put on the side of the table,
Happy Anniversary Dad,
Even though mom isn't here to celebrate with us I know she would want you to have the best day ever, I know how much you were hurt when she passed. But she must have had a reason to do what she did, and you don't have to beat yourself up about it either.

After that I ate some toast and went back upstairs to my room, I turned on the tv and saw my favorite show was on and watched a few episodes before falling asleep again.
But after that day, dad wasn't the same person.
