Alright guys, EnyaFeder asked particularly for this one to be as sad as possible, so if this makes you cry, blame her. 😉😉 I hope you like this, and that you have a Kleenex or two nearby. I'm writing this at 12:20 PM, and we all know my writing is its best and angstiest when it's late and I'm tired. Here we go.

🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉

"Ugh! Khagam, this is ridiculous!!" (Y/n) yelled once again, absolutely infuriated. (Pretty sure that's Khuzdul for 'father/dad,' correct me if I'm wrong. Feel free to laugh and mock. I deserve it for not looking it up 😂)

"It is not," Thorin countered in a controlled tone, although he sounded like he was close to his breaking point. "I merely am doing what is best for you, and that is to forbid you from going near that foul place."

"But all my friends are going to the pub!" (Y/n) insisted. "I am old enough, just as they are! Why can't I go?!"

"Because," Thorin retorted, his voice raising and becoming more harsh, "it is too dangerous!"

"Then come with me if you're too afraid to let me go alone!"

Thorin shook his head. "A tavern is the last place in Middle Earth I'd want you to be attending, (y/n). I will not allow you to go! And that is final!!"

"It's not fair!!!" she nearly screamed, stomping her foot angrily on the wooden floor.

Thorin had just about had it at this point. "Enough!!!" he roared. "Go to your room!!!"

His daughter huffed and stomped her way to her bedroom at the back of the house, her heated tempter evidently expressed in every thomp thomp thomp her thick boots made against the floor. She slammed her door with every ounce of her strength, and flopped uncerimoniously onto her fluffy bed.

"It's not fair," she seethed into her pillow as she turned to look at the stuffed unicorn sitting close by on the bed, a gift from her father that she had acquired upon her 10th birthday. "You don't think it's fair, do you, Rainbow?"

Rainbow the Unicorn did not respond, he simply gazed at her with his stitched-on black button eyes.

"Father is stupid, isn't he?" she scoffed, sitting up. The movement caused Rainbow to topple over onto his side, and (y/n) picked him up with a snort. "I'll take that as a yes."

She cradled the animal close to her chest. It had been a symbol of love, fun, and comfort ever since she had received it. But now, (y/n) blocked out all sentiment it had connected with her father, and merely used it as her metaphorical punching bag.

"I hate him," she hissed, the thought of his refusal to let her attend the tavern for a few drinks with her friends infuriating her once more. "Why can't he just let me be happy? I thought he loved me!" She rose from her bed and began pacing her spacious room. "If he loved me at all, he'd let me go!"

And that's when it came to her.

"I'll run away," she whispered, a ghost of a smile daring to flit across her lips. "I'll run away, and then we'll see if he truly cares about me!" She grinned at Rainbow the Unicorn, not giving the poor toy much choice in the matter.

(Y/n) tossed the stuffed animal into a rucksack, along with an old book, her journal, portable inkwell, and quill, and her secret stash of food she kept in a hidden compartment of her desk drawer. She hurriedly climbed and jumped out the window (quite easily, since it was only about three feet above the ground), smiling all the way. "Finally," she muttered, "I'll be free from Father."

What she forgot to pack however, would teach her a great lesson in remembrance.

(Y/n) wandered the familiar paths of the forest for hours, letting the sweet aroma of the wildflowers surround her. She eventually grew tired, from a combination of walking, arguing with her father, and the warm sunshine on her face, and decided to lie down and sleep. She rested her head on her sack, and quickly dozed off.

What she wasn't expecting however, was to be discovered by a pack of orcs. One of them shouted to the others when it spotted her, and she awoke immediately in surprise.

She jumped up and saw the orc, then reached for her sword that was strapped at her side. All she grasped was air. As the ugly orc approached, (y/n) could only look down in horror to find that her trusty sword was nowhere to be seen. The one thing she'd forgotten to pack. And now it would, quite ironically, be the death of her.

When (y/n)'s head snapped back up to face the orc, she was instead immediately knocked in the head with the hilt of the orc's crude weapon. She grunted and fell to the ground; unfortunately the blow wasn't enough to force her into subconsciousness.

The orc barked an order to a point beyond the trees, where soon a whole horde of the foul creatures appeared. Now in a frenzied panic, (y/n) scraped her hands along the forest floor in an effort to find some sort of makeshift weapon she could use to try and defend herself. But she could find nothing. No sticks or branches lay on the ground, nor were any of the contents of her rucksack useful for a fight. But she would not give up.

She sprung to her feet and attempted to throw a punch at the first orc, the one who had attacked her, but was easily blocked, as she was still disorientated from her previous injury. The orcs then hounded her, punching and scratching and pulling and biting. She screamed for help, but no one heard her. Expect for the orcs, she was all alone. She reached for her rucksack one last time, and managed to grab Rainbow, her last resort of comfort, the soft fabric helping her to keep her sanity as she attempted to escape the fury of these orcs.

One orc suddenly unsheathed his crude dagger from his waist and stabbed it into (y/n)'s. She screamed in pain, the sensation of being injured so completely new to her, seeing as her father was so very protective of her.

Her father. Oh, how she wished she would've just stayed in her room. She wished she had never yelled at him, nor left so angrily without another word. She wished she had not called him stupid, even if he had not heard it come from her lips.

At her cry of pain, the orcs all began stabbing and slicing her, apparently thinking that seeing the poor young girl in so much agony to be hilarious. They all mercilessly brought their sharp weapons down upon the girl, causing her to cry out as she never had before.

If anyone had been near enough to hear her cries, they would have surely been haunted with that memory until their own dying day.

She tried to twist around and get away, but the orcs held her down firmly as they continued to carry out their slaughter.

"I'm sorry, Father!!" (Y/n) screamed out in a bloodcurdling screech into the now night air. "I'm sorry!!!"

She gripped Rainbow in a vice-like grip as she watched the first orc raise a dagger above his head, then plunge it into her heart, causing her to gasp, all the air being sucked out of her lungs.

The orc withdrew his weapon and they all distanced themselves slightly from her, waiting for her to die so that they might drag her off to their camp and consume her body.

She gasped and coughed, warm, sticky blood spluttering from her mouth. She struggled to swallow as she thought one last time, in her dying moments, of her dear Khagam, her father.

I love you, Father, she thought, the words being the last her mind would conjure. She quietly released her final breath, her spirit whisked away into the night's breeze. Her gaze was now vacant, her lips slightly parted and dotted with bright red blood, as were her cheeks.

But none of this sorrowful and pitiful sight had any of the orcs up in arms. They rather ripped Rainbow from her now loose grip, tossing the red-stained animal aside and carrying (y/n)'s dead body like a sack of potatoes into their camp for supper.

Thorin noticed that his daughter was missing right before suppertime. She usually stayed back in her room for a good, long while, blowing off steam and allowing her appetite to grow immensely.

The dwarf prince grinned, thinking of how well supper would go tonight. He had fixed her favorite meal since she was a child, pasta and cheese and fried fish. After supper, he would take her for a stroll by the river, her favorite place to be, and tell her how much he loved her. He would explain that he would still not allow her to go to the tavern, but he would allow her to come along in his quest to reclaim Erebor. (Y/n) loved adventures; this would surely make up for missing a few ales with her rowdy friends.

"(Y/n)!" he called in his cheeriest voice, but nothing replied. He rolled his eyes, but smiled nonetheless, wondering for the thousandth time how she could be so very much like him when they were not related by blood. He walked to her bedroom and knocked a few times on the door. "(Y/n), did you fall asleep, darling?" he asked, and waited for an answer. Still nothing. He opened the door, only to discover the absence of his daughter, and the window open.

His heart immediately sank into his boots, and his hands began to quiver at the prospect of his precious little girl being lost. Or worse, hurt.

He put together a search party, forgetting altogether about supper, and went out looking (with the enlisted help of 18 other dwarves) for (y/n).

No one found any sign of her for the longest time, until they decided to go into the woods.

Hours later, at nearly midnight, the search party stumbled across a heart-stopping sight.

Blood pooled on the forest floor, and flung up into the trees. A rucksack, filled with few possessions, and a stuffed unicorn, covered in crimson fluid, sitting alone on the leaf-covered ground.

Tears sprung into the eyes of every dwarf present, the very idea of anyone, let alone a child, having to endure whatever it was that caused this much blood a horrific thought indeed.

Thorin however, ran forward, collapsing to his knees in shock and sorrow in front of the stuffed animal. He slowly picked it up, bringing it close to his chest and curling up, his body wracking with sobs.

I'm so sorry, (y/n).

He could not hear the other dwarves behind him tell a certain few to go ahead farther and see if maybe Thorin's daughter was still alive, or at least see what had become of her.

He could not hear the others who stayed behind saying quietly that it was a lost cause.

He could not even hear his own loud screams of agony at finding the last of his daughter, even if it was only a large amount of blood and Rainbow the Unicorn.

All he could hear was her cheerful, bubbling laugh, her sweet voice telling him that she loved him with all her heart, her shrieks of delight as he tossed her up into the air when she was a small dwarfling. These memories, and the newest ones of them arguing, rattled around in his mind, causing his screams to become louder, and his sobs to become more violent.

His last words were ones of anger, instead of love.

He was a failure. A horrible father. A brute of a man who had not the heart to run after his daughter as she had stormed off and tell her one last time that he loved her.

And now he'd give anything to say 'I love you' just one last time.
