"(Y/n), dear, be a good girl while I'm gone. Don't even try jumping over the fence." (Y/n)'s mother said as she shut the door behind her. (Y/n) looked after her from the backyard porch, annoyance creeping into her gaze.

It was just another day at home for her. Her mother would be away for most of the day caring for their clients' wishes. (Y/n) slammed the backyard table in anger.

Why was it always about their clients? Didn't family matter more?

A careless mother and two blatant older sisters were totally a family. (Y/n) scoffed, kicking the backyard chairs next. Her mistake. There wasn't a family to look to. She could practically run and jump off a cliff and her mother and sisters wouldn't care. They were either too absorbed in their work or stuck inside to worry. Sadly, she was too cut off from the outside world to even attempt that.

The girl walked over to a rosebush near the fence around her house and plucked a branch from it, running the rose thorns down the length of her left arm before alternating to her right arm. Blood soon stained her dark sleeves.

What to do?

(Y/n) looked over to the fence, a border on their territory made clear to her since she could first end a life. Unappealing. Not doable. She was not to even contemplate leaping over the fence or a throbbing headache would be the consequence.

But pain couldn't stop curiosity. Maybe thinking too much about escape eventually opened a gap in defenses somehow that her mother did not like. (Y/n) ignored the pain as she thought of her next move.

The girl walked to the fence, running her hands across it. The wall between her and freedom was of classic wood build and nothing serious. Of course she could attempt jumping over.

(Y/n) was only a few jumps from freedom when the electrical hum caught her attention. The girl cautiously broke a branch from a nearby tree and felt around her for the invisible obstacle. Nothing.

Throwing the stick up into the air met with different results.

After getting rid of the otherwise unnecessary stick, (Y/n) was surprised to hear a fizzling sound. The stick was caught in air, smoking and turning black. With a small pop, it unhinged from the invisible force and hit the ground hard.

So there was an electric field slightly above the top of the fence. What a great way to die.

(Y/n) jumped to the top of the fence and began squeezing under the invisible electric web. Of all the people in her family, she had the smallest and most flexible body easily able to assume positions like these. That was why she was the family heir.

Her mother couldn't afford her escaping past her overly-simple protective measures. It would lose her precious family name.

Finally, (Y/n) got the left side of her body over the fence and dropped down. Freedom at last! The pain in her mind suddenly vanished, and the girl felt true happiness for the first time in her life.

The next question was - what now?

(Y/n) looked around at the outside landscape, all suicidal thoughts from before gone. The world had so many possibilities for a teenage assassin like her. More kills, more money-

(Y/n) shook her head. She was thinking like her mother now. That was the last thing she wanted to do with her hard-earned freedom. The girl stood in the green grass of the other side, thinking for a while.

"I guess I'll find myself a friend first to accompany me wherever I choose to go."

* *

(Y/n) bounced around, enjoying the sunlight and fresh air being a rebel brought. Where was she to find a friend?

It was high noon, and the girl had run around so much that she was completely lost. (Y/n) took a look around.

At least she couldn't see her house anymore.

The young assassin's critical eyes landed on a double dragon gate in the distance. She would start there.

(Y/n) walked over, admiring the separate doors she saw in the gate as it grew larger in her view. This had to be one of those fancy, heavy door entryways she had heard her mother talk about in the brief periods she was there to educate her children on the art of assassination. (Y/n) would be the first of her siblings to actually take one on.

With a small push, (Y/n) managed to open up six of the seven gates.

"Wow." The girl hurried in before the gates closed. "I'm so strong."

(Y/n) was so amazed by her own power she nearly missed the shadow that breezed by her minutes after her entrance.

The figure stopped for a moment, looking back at her with emotionless pits of darkness. A teenage boy.

"Hey, wait up!" (Y/n) began to follow the boy, and he kept walking. Here was an interesting if stubborn individual.

She would just have to make him notice her.

Both of them walked for the rest of the afternoon before a large mansion could be seen by the end of the day. (Y/n) gasped in wonder as the boy carried on his silent walk. His house was so much grander than her own it hurt, but it wasn't like she was ever going back home anyway.

The boy took her past a first gate with a dutiful butler before (Y/n) was suddenly assailed.

Pins flew from the dark foliage around the territory, and (Y/n) twisted herself to avoid them. What a strange greeting. Didn't the attacker see she was only trying to befriend this silent boy here?

The girl was so frustrated she caught a pin from the air and threw it back in the direction it came. A small gasp of pain followed. (Y/n) only smirked as she moved ahead.

The boy had stopped walking, showing a hint of surprise at (Y/n)'s survival before he hid the emotion. (Y/n) skipped along with joyful energy from her recent victory, and the awkward pair resumed their journey to the boy's house.

A line of butlers were next to greet the boy. "Welcome home, Master Illumi." The men in black all bowed respectfully as Illumi gave no response.

"Master, who is-" one of the butlers began, looking suspiciously at (Y/n) before his head came off of his neck in one swift motion.

(Y/n) could feel bloodlust from Illumi in front before they made their way past the remaining butlers but made no comment at his most recent act of murder.

Both moved to enter the house.

"So tell me," Illumi finally spoke in a monotone voice as he entered. "What is your purpose for entering the Zoldyck family property?"

"I don't know, actually. You could say that I was bored, Illumi." The boy seemed disgusted at her answer. "This wouldn't have happened if you had acknowledged my existence in the first place, assassin." (Y/n) ignored the fact that the boy in front of her was from the most dangerous family in her mother's field of business.

"You don't understand, do you?" Illumi's gaze on (Y/n) intensified. "All assassin families are enemies. You should be killed just for being here in my house." His bloodlust peaked.

"Put away your aura. Intimidation doesn't work on me," (Y/n) said, wagging a finger in Illumi's face. "You haven't killed me yet, Illumi. Tell me why."

Silence.

The other assassin seemed to sigh in defeat as words failed him.

"It's a very simple question that needs a simple answer," (Y/n) prompted with a smirk, and Illumi seemed to tense at what she said. She aggravated him so much, but his killer intent just couldn't bring him to end her life. She was strong and-

He decided to say something to save face. "Well, you are no value as a dead assassin if I don't know who you are. The others must have something to fear after we have killed one of their own." Illumi kept the confused feelings out of his eyes. He had to formulate a plan, and fast.

"Oh, it's (Y/n) for you." (Y/n) waited for a few moments. "You still haven't killed me."

"What an impatient assassin you are." Illumi seemed to have regained some personality after her answer. "Very well, (Y/n). I will grant you your wish soon since you are so eager to die. However-"

(Y/n) suddenly felt arms hoist her up. Her eyes wandered to meet Illumi's black ones, confused as to what was happening now.

"You'll get some torture first."

Hehe I wonder what kind of torture he means~ *Coughs* Anyway, it's up for you guys to decide XD
