Violets face drains of color and Greyson's heart drops. He'd asked her about her wolf earlier and she put him off. What was wrong?
"I-I don't want to" Violet says,Greyson felt like that should have been the end of the conversation, she didn't want to, she didn't have to, but his father pressed on
"Why not?"
"It hurts" she looked to the ground. Greyson grabs his mates hand, something he immediately fell in love with. He understood how she felt, when he'd first began shifting it was the most painful thing imaginable.
"The more you shift the less it hurts" his father continues to try and coax her
"No" she says "I'm not shifting today."
"Alright. Then I guess I'll have to wait for the ceremony." The alpha says gruffly Again violets face was a pale white, she looked like she was going to be sick.
"Okay. Well I just came here to inform you of my discovery, we'll be leaving now." Greyson says trying to get her out of this uncomfortable situation.
"Yes, I'll have regular checkups on the two of you, and congratulations son" Greyson nods to his father turning away. Seeing his parents give eachother a grave look from the corner of his eye, he walks out of the large office
All he wants to do is take Violet to his room and take her as his, but with the mistakes he has made, he knows he can't do anything without her permission, which will unfortunately probably take a long while
"Well, I guess goodnight then" Violet says standing outside her doorless room.
"I'm going to see you tomorrow" Greyson tells her looking into her eyes
"I'm sure you will, but tomorrow is Emma's birthday and I'm definitely gonna be with her all day."
"Well I'll find the chance you see you." He kisses her cheek. "Goodnight love" Greyson whispers into her ear before going to his own room.

Violet comes down stairs the next morning and begin to make a bowl of cereal when Emma comes in bright smile on her face
"Date go well?" Violet asks taking a bite of her honeynut Cheerios
"Oh my goddess yes, we went to the classy ass restaurant and then went to this cliff side, and we just talked, and chilled and he was so sweet and I'm so happy" she smiles ear to ear
"You should be birthday girl!" Violet says
"Yeah, and tonight your going to have to cancel all your plans cause you're hanging out with me"
"Good thing I never had plans"
"You're coming to my room at six, bring whatever you want"
"Okay gotcha" violet nods " are you ready for the shift?"
"I would if it didn't involve me finding my mate after." Violet could relate
"You shouldn't worry I'm sure it will be Coal"
"That's what I'm worried about! I mean, he's never been a 'one girl guy'. I know he's made promises before but I don't know, I'm scared to trust him again"
"I think he's really changed Em, you could at least give him a second chance" she'd supposed everyone deserved a second chance
"Okay" she nods.
"So, you didn't fuck him?"
"Almost, but I restrained myself"
"Really? I'm proud, I didn't know if you could do it"
"It's not my fault he has a bomb ass dick"
"Well tonight were gonna get drunk, and high, we're gonna get fucked up and since it's your birthday you can go and hop on his-"
"Do I wanna know what you two are talking about?" Greyson asks from the door of the kitchen, Coal at his side
"Just talking about how we're celebrating Emma's birthday" Violet makes an effort not to look at Greyson, as she remembered she's wearing silk shorts that hugged her curves quite nicely and a small, thin t shirt, with nothing under
"Oh?" Coal asks looking Emma up and down "and what is it that you are doing for Emma's birthday?"
"Oh you know hangout , gossip, practice kissing, compare tits, you know girls stuff" Emma winks to Coal
"Can I join" he asks, Greyson's eyes burning into violets side
"Girls only"Violet says turning to Emma "okay I gotta go and get some stuff for tonight, have you talked to harken?"Emma's eyes turn grave as she shakes her head
"Caleb even said he's been disappearing a lot lately, he's thinking the worst"
"You don't think he's-" Violet trails off, Emma only shrugs
The boys still stand behind them as violet goes to leave
"Violet wait!" Greyson calls after her as she reaches an empty hall
"Yeah?" She asks her heart racing
"I-I just wanted to talk to you" he says holding his hand sending shocks though her whole body that makes her want to pull him into one of the many rooms occupying the empty hall " I can't stop thinking about you violet" she couldn't deny she felt the same, she dreamt of him touching her, his lips kissing places that made her want to melt with pleasure. But it was just a dream. A dream that she couldn't stop thinking about.
"I-I have to go" she tells him
"Violet You said you'd give me a chance" she loved when he said her name
"Maybe you could come by my room later, if you wanted to" she looks at the ground
He nods, a smile spreading on his face. "I'll see you later then" he kisses her forehead then let's her go outside where Violet gets into the car Greyson's parents let her use
She gets to Harkens house quickly. No one had seen him in the pack house. And now that his old home was abandoned, after his father finally got a punishment he deserved, Violet thought this would be the best place to look for him. She was right of course, she didn't bother to knock, and walked into the small dirty house.
Harken sits on the couch his blonde hair oily covering his sweating face his eyes blazing red and black underneath, he looked pale, sick. His arms were covered in cuts and scabs a bundle of needles scattered at his feet, white powder covering the table.
She would have thought her friend dead if his eyes hadn't moved to her and his fingers tapping to the music pounding throughout the house.
"What the fuck harken?"
"Don't fucking judge me"
"I'm not judging but I'm going to be honest. You look like shit, this place smells like shit. What the fuck are you doing man? You have a mate!"
"You don't understand Violet, you could never understand" he says standing to walk away into another room, which Violet follows him into
"I may not understand what ever it is that makes you feel the need to shoot poison into your veins, but I do know your better than this harken you could have so much, you could travel the world with the love of your life, you have him and he loves you, and your giving it all away for this bullshit?" He turns to her his eyes ringed red "I know how your dealer works harken. He doesn't just take money as payment" harkens nostril flare as he begins to sob he puts his head in his hands
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry I don't know what's wrong with me Violet, I feel like theirs a devil inside me that is taking my skin, I just need something to numb me, something to forget"
"There are so many other things to pass time, smoke weed, fuck your mate, watch goddamn Netflix but heroine is not the answer"
"I-i can't just stop, it-it doesn't work like that"
"I'm sure I could help you find a detox center of some sort, but you can't just go home, you need help harken"
"I don't know Violet, I've tried, on multiple occasions and it's never worked."
"Maybe because you didn't have a big enough reason" Violet says "but you do now, Caleb is at home pissing himself he's so worried about you, you need to clean yourself up and go let him know your okay"
Harken only rolls his eyes, shaking his head and that's when Violet decides to leave
