Nalago bounced on Marta's knee
Blue eyes flashing,
Merrily.
She was happy,
Bright, and bold,
With no idea
What life might hold.
Pieter still used Marta
For his needs,
Down at the river,
Among the reeds.
But he never,
Ever,
Held Nalago,
No love
Or interest,
Did he show.
But there was little
Marta could do
They were powerless,
As she knew.
Inside, she cried,
As her soul died.
