-Alpha Mason above aka Tyler Hoechlin.

{Scarlett's POV}

I stared at the thin paper before me.

"This is ridiculous!" I said and Ashlee snatched the paper from my hands skimming over it and let out a laugh.

"You have to do community service at The War Pack? That blows." I looked at the brat considering clawing her eyes out.

So tempting. As she noticed my sadistic stare she took a step backwards. Ever since her thirteenth birthday party she's always been a little scared of me. A boy tried to kiss her and I tackled him so quickly that I broke a few of his ribs and bruised his face —only a little—but in my defense he was two years older than her. I wasn't just gonna let him kiss her!

"Looks like you're going to be gone for a bit." Mom said grabbing a bag.

"You're enjoying this!" I exclaimed and she shrugged.

"Sí, you were eventually going to get caught for the little things you did and you have gotten caught. A week or two in The War Pack will be good for you, niña!"

"Mom, it's The War Pack. It's where the scariest of fighters are, and it's where the prisoners live ready to break free and kill everyone in their midst. It's the most terrifying pack, I don't deserve this! It's not like I killed anyone!" I shouted.

"Stop whining, you're giving me a headache." My father said from the living room, sipping his whiskey, glad to know why our money is always gone. How about you stop drinking our money away?

"Yeah, look on the bright side, you're just cleaning the alpha's mansion for the week with other maids, so it could be worse. Plus, you could get to see Alpha Mason, yummy." Ashlee said and I stared gaping at her as my mom rolled up her newspaper whacking it on the back of my sisters head.

"Ow!"

"You're sixteen! Act like it. Dios mío." My mother snapped and I grinned.

"And you, get packing! Your ride will be here in an hour." I grimaced at the thought and sighed dragging myself back to my room with the bag my mother gave me.

I watched the scenery go by as I sat in the back of the small car, the driver had not spoken a word. You could tell he was a War Pack member by the tribal tattoo going down his arm, all males in the army were supposed to have it. I'm nervous because of all the stories I've heard, they say Alpha Mason is vicious when he wants to be.

The War Pack was about an hour or two away, so since I had time to kill, I slept.

Later, I was shaken awake and looked around realizing that we had made it. We were parked in front of a huge mansion and my heart leapt looking at it. It was elegant yet scary.

My driver had my bags in his hand and motioned me out. I left the car shutting the door behind me as I exited, and we walked with him to the front doors where two guards opened them and let us walk through.

Minutes after our arrival, a woman walked up to us in a dress looking sharp and professional. Unlike me in my pair of worn out jeans and cheap t-shirt.

"Good afternoon, you must be Scarlett Madison." I nodded and she smiled motioning me to follow her. I took my bags from my driver and followed the woman. "I must admit, when I heard your story, I couldn't help but be confused." She said and I looked to her.

"Why?" I asked. "You stole bread? I mean, you ran for stealing a chunk of bread, but why not just let them arrest you? It would just have been a small fine, resisting only made it worse." Again with the freaking bread.

"I don't understand why that is so weird? When you're hungry, you'll do a lot of things, maybe worse than stealing bread. I've seen people get killed fighting over a bowl of soup. I ran because I couldn't afford to stay and risk getting the fine, but it found its way back to me anyways." She looked back at me curiously as we walked up some stairs.

"Well, I can assure you that as long as you're here, you won't be hungry." That was the best thing I've heard all day.

"Maybe I should try to get community service more often" I joked trying to lighten the mood and she let out a small laugh.

"I'm Elizabeth." She said and I smiled back at her. "It's nice to meet you." I replied. We came to a door and she put in a key unlocking it, swinging the door open.

"Here is your room, small, but you'll only sleep in here so it's perfect for the job. You have a bathroom connected through that door right there." I nodded in a thanks and stepped in setting my things down.

"You don't fully start until tomorrow, so make yourself at home for the stay. I'll come get you before dinner. Feel free to explore a little, if anyone ask, tell them that I gave you permission. However, I ask that you do not go upstairs to the very top level, that's the Alpha's floor. See you later." With that she was gone and I looked around my new accommodations. I guess I could unpack first.

I spent a good hour or so unpacking and just setting things up how I like. Even if I was going to be here for a week or two, I'd like to be comfortable, maybe this wouldn't be so bad.

I spoke to soon. I was currently lost, this pace is huge! I should have left some bread crumbs, pun intended. I growled annoyed as I made the same turn as a few minutes ago, I felt as if I was being taunted by fate for putting me in stupid situations. I really didn't want to miss dinner.

I found a staircase and started to descend it and went down a level, okay I think we're getting somewhere here. I was walking down a hallway, just minding my own, when a door burst open. An angry man rushed out  knocking the  guard on duty out cold.

"Show yourself Mason!" He bellowed and I froze.

His attention shifted towards me, oh hell no.

"Where is your alpha?" He asked marching over to me and I stood puzzled.

"I uh, I don't know? I'm not a member!" I stated and he laughed humorlessly grabbing my upper arm.

"Don't play games with me!" He sneered.

"I stole bread and I'm here for community service! He's not my alpha! I'm not lying!" I yelled out squeezing my eyes shut, I was actually kinda terrified.

I opened one eye after a moment and saw the man staring at me in utter confusion.

"You're lying." He seemed to try to figure me out.

I let out a nervous laugh, "No actually I'm not, when a gigantic oaf is manhandling you and screaming in your face, you tend to tell the truth." I ground out and mentally cursed myself for my big mouth.

He growled in response tightening his hold on me.

"Never mind that you must know where he is since you're here on community service, he had to accept your arrival into the pack for the time being." He did? Oh Goddess, he probably laughed at me for stealing bread too.

When he started pulling me with him down the hall I couldn't help but whimper, his grip was like a vice and there was no escaping it. "Ow, you're hurting me!" I cried but he laughed, obviously not caring about his treatment of me.

"I don't care. Mason always likes the ones in distress, now scream and let's see if he comes to your rescue."

"What?" I asked dumbly. Is this man insane? Cleary, I decide.

But it was when he partial shifted and roared at me that my courage left me and I screamed and loudly I might add. I've only seen my father partial shift once before when he got angry, it takes a lot of strength and power to do.

"Good." He murmured shifting back to normal features.

"Why do I have so much bad luck?" I asked myself as he continued dragging me down the hall.

"Hey, so do you uh know how to get back to hall b?" I asked him hopefully.

"Shut up!" he growled viciously.

"ok." I mumbled. Worth the shot, my subconscious spoke.

"Let go of the girl." A booming voice said making us both halt. "Now." he added dangerously

"Mason." The man grinned.

I turned seeing him and my eyes widened. Are all alpha's hot and intimidating? He looked like a Greek God.

"Let the girl go, now."

"Or what?" The man asked.

Alpha Mason took a step forward and I stood in shock at what he did next. I didn't know to either find him attractive when he roared, his eyes shining a bright red, or terrified.

"You wanted me, I'm here. Let her go she's not part of this." Alpha Mason countered and the guy looked to me. "I don't think so." He tightened his grip on me causing my heart to speed up, so me being me, I did something I knew I'd regret later. I head butted him.

"Shiitake Mushrooms!" I cried out holding my nose.

"That was so much more badass in my head." I muttered stumbling backwards out of the insane man's grasp as he held his nose, groaning.

An arm gripped my shoulder shoving me behind them and I stood shocked, once again as Alpha Mason stood in a protective stance before me.

"Run." He snapped at me.

"Run? What about you?!" Mason laughed at the suggestion.

"This pup? Please... Don't worry about me." That was all I needed before letting out a quick 'have fun' and darting down the hall.

I rounded the corner and grinned.

"My room." I said dramatically and shut myself in it quickly locking it.

How do I, Scarlett Madison, find myself in the most horrific situations? Am I a magnet for trouble or something?

After a while there was a loud knock on my door and I quickly looked around nervously for something to use as protection. I grabbed a steel candle holder and creeped towards the door slowly.

"Uh... who is it?" I asked gripping the candle holder until my knuckles turned white.

"Open the door." The voice commanded and my heart dropped. The voice sounded angry and threatening.

Slowly unlocking the door, I opened it with a quickly and went to swing when it was caught mid air. Dammit! I knew I should have learned softball.

I looked up and my eyes nearly left my head.

"A-alpha I'm so sorry." I muttered bowing my head.

"I'll let that slide, considering what you just witnessed. I came to ask of you not to say anything to anyone about what you saw. The threat has been taken care of." I nodded not asking questions as I glanced at his bloody knuckles and shirt.

"Yeah, no problemo." I said giving him a thumbs up and he looked at me weirdly and turned on his heels retreating down the hall.

I closed the door putting my back against it letting out a deep breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Stupid!" I scolded myself.
