Branch peeked around the corner of a tree, and looked up at the big, tall building that was Poppy's college.
Inside, he looked up at the dorms, and saw a sign taped to one of the windows.
"R.I.P Poppy," it read.
Branch fell to his knees, a few tears falling. "No," he told himself.
He shook his head and wiped away the tears. He got back up, and used his bare hands and feet to start climbing the naturally tall brick building.
He gasped for air. Before he knew it, though, he was at the window.
Branch broke it open. A boy jumped out of his skin, startled.
He didn't even have a shirt on. He must've been changing at that moment.
"Well well well," the troll said, and stepped closer to Branch. "If it isn't Branch."
The troll pointed to his left.
And there lie Poppy, on the ground, barely breathing.
"Who are you," Branch said, almost as if it weren't a question.
"Me?" he asked. "I'm A."
