Nova's P.O.V
I felt beyond happy at this moment in time. I had my little mate curled up in my arms once again.
God I'd missed him so badly. It's been almost a month since I left to search for Derek and the only
News I had was from Nathan, who had kept me updated on his and my baby's condition.
Looking at Zak now I could see he'd lost weight. Nathan had told me he hadn't been eating much
And it showed. He had small purple bags under his eyes from lack of sleep and he just looked
Worn out. I seriously regretted leaving them both, but I needed to find the bastard and get rid of

A small knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. 'Come in.' I called softly, not wanting to wake

The door creaked open and Melany poked her head round it. She smiled at me, clearly happy that
I was home. I motioned for her to come in and patted the bed beside me.
She tiptoed across the room and sat next to me, wrapping her small arms around my neck as we

'Missed you too Mel's.' I smiled, 'I hear you were helping look after Kasper for me.' She nodded,

'Mommy said dinners ready and you need to get up.' She whispered. I told her I'd be down in a

The rest of dinner went by in silence. I sighed. Something wasn't right whatsoever. 'Leo, can I

'Whats going on?' I asked as we sat down in my fathers office.
'Where do you want me to start?' Leo sighed and ran his fingers through his hair.
'Whats going on with my mom and Zak?'
'From what I can gather your mother has gotten fed up with Zak's behaviour while you were gone.
She did talk to Nathan about it so he can probably tell you more, but from what I can gather, she
Said that Zak wasn't fit to take care of a baby because he couldn't look after himself. Of course she

My eyes grew wide as I knew the voice. I ran from the office and into my room, Leo following

I nodded. 'He's calmed down a little now. Sorry Micky. Calling you out already.'
He shook his head, 'it's fine. But I want to put him in the hospital for a few days.' Micky told me as
He peeled off the bandage, revealing a huge scar. It ran from his hair line to his eyebrow. I gasped
When I saw it. Nathan had told me he'd fell and cut his head but I didn't realise it was this bad.
'I want to put him under for a few days. He needs to rest Nova. His health isn't good at all.' He told

I blinked away the tears. I didn't realise that my going away would have such an affect on my
Precious mate. I felt so guilty for putting him through this. 'I'll bring him down now. But only for a
Couple days right?' I asked, worried beyond belief.
Micky looked at me with understanding eyes. 'Only for a couple days, he should be fine by the end
of the week.' He patted My knee reassuringly. 'Don't worry, I'll take good care of him. I'm just
going to make him rest and Hook him up to an iv so he can get the nutrients and such that he's
lacking at the minute.'
I nodded. I knew he'd be safe with Micky, but I was going to have someone stay by his side at all
Times, whether it was myself or one of my friends, he wasn't going to be alone. And neither was
Kasper.
It was painful seeing Zak lying unconscious in the hospital bed. It had been two days and I'd stayed
By his side as much as I could. Ricky and Axel had also been sitting by his side, watching over him
While I wasn't there. Kasper missed his daddy and had caused so much of a fuss on the first day
That I had to lie him next to Zak and let him sleep there. My son curled up into his daddy's side,
Holding his shirt in his tiny hands. My heart broke a little when he wouldn't stop crying when I
Took him away the next night. Kasper still hasn't calmed down. In the end I had to bring him back
And let him sleep next to Zak again otherwise he wouldn't have slept. So that is where I was now.
Sitting at my mates bedside watching over him and my baby boy as they both slept peacefully.
'Nova?' I jumped at the sound of my father calling me. I hadn't even notice him come in.
'Why are you awake at this hour?' I asked him, knowing full well it was about 2 in the morning.
He smiled softly. 'Go get some rest son, I'll watch over them.' He nudged my arm gently, making
Me get up. He sat himself on the chair and shooed me away.
I chuckled lightly, 'thanks dad.' I kissed Zak and Kasper and the head before leaving. As soon as
My head hit the pillow I was gone.
'Novaaaa, daddy said you've got to get up!' Melany whined.
I stirred and lazily wiped the sleep out of my eyes. Wow, think I'd slept like the dead.
'Morning Mel's.' I yawned.
She pulled on my arm, 'daddy said you have to go see him now.' She whined again, pulling my arm

I panicked a little and ran out of my room. I was still in my sweats from yesterday as I'd fell asleep
Without bothering to change.
'Dad?' I panted as I ran into the hospital room. 'Mel's said you wanted to see me. What's wrong?'
'Calm down Nova, I just thought you may want to be here when your mate wakes up.' He smiled
Over at me softly.
'He's waking up! Really?' I asked overjoyed. I picked Kasper up from my fathers lap and kissed the
Little boys cheek, making him giggle.
'Dada!' He squealed.
'Oh my god, he just spoke!' I looked over at my father who smiled proudly and chuckled.
'He's been saying that since he woke up this morning. Melany was feeding him and she kept telling
Him to say it. I was as surprised as you are when he came out with it.' He chuckled.
'Dada!' Kasper squealed again, wriggling in my arms while reaching out his little hands for Zak.
'Don't worry little man, daddy will be up soon. He'll give you a cuddle then okay.' I kissed his head.
'Ah, there you are Nova.' Micky smiled as he walked over to me. 'He should be awake in the next
Hour or so and we'll take it from there. He should be fit enough to leave tonight, but only if he eats
A proper meal.' Micky explained, his voice stern. 'If he doesn't eat, he's not leaving. Am I clear. He
Really needs to watch his health am I clear.'
I nodded, 'crystal clear. Don't worry, I'm going to make sure he eats properly. He should get better
Easier now that I'm home.' I smiled as my mate stirred.
Half an hour passed before Zak began to stir. He groaned as his eyes slowly fluttered open. He
looked up dazed and confused, his emerald eyes still a little clouded with sleep.
'Hey baby.' I smiled and sat on the edge of the bed, leaning over to kiss his head. 'How you feeling?'
'Dada!' Kasper squealed from my lap. He stretched out his little arms and whined, wanting Zak to
Cuddle him.
Zak's eyes widened. 'D-did he j-just,' he croaked.
I nodded. 'Apparently we have Melany to thank for that.' I chuckled.
Zak slowly sat himself up and held his arms out for Kas. 'Come here baby.' He smiled a sweet little
Smile as I handed an ecstatic Kasper to him. 'Why am I in the hospital again?'
I sighed. 'You've been here for a little over three days now. Micky put you under so you could rest
Properly and get your health back on track.'
He looked down and I saw tears lining his eyes. 'Zak, don't cry.' I carefully sat next to him, avoiding
The drip that was connected to his arm. I put my arm round his back and snuggled him into my

Loads better. The dark circles under your eyes are gone and once we get some food in you, you'll

'C-can I have s-some bacon pancakes.' He whispered softly.
I chuckled, 'course you can.' Geez this kid and his pancakes. I'd never known anyone who likes

Kasper sat snuggled happily in his daddy's chest, quietly making silly noises to himself, which
Made me smile.
'Hello,' voices called out. I smiled as I saw Nathan, Leo, Ricky and my father walking into the
Room.
'Zak your up! How you feeling buddy?' Ricky looked relieved when he saw Zak smile at him.
'Im fine.' He said shyly.
They all hugged my mate and told him how happy they were that he looked better. I was glad he
Was able to have such good people as his closest friends.
'Why are there so many people in my hospital?' Doc grumbled as he walked in.
'None of your business. By the way where have you been for the past month? You do realise you
Left without permission right.' My father growled, his alpha personality coming out.
Zak flinched a little in my arms. He still wasn't used to how different my father sounded, and
Honestly, I don't think I was either! I hugged him a little tighter to let him know he was alright.
Come to think of it, I hadn't seen Doc since the day Kasper was born. An uneasy feeling sat in my
Gut and I didn't like it. Not one bit.
'Well?' Father growled.
Leo and Ricky had come and sat themselves in front of Zak and me, it was a way of letting him
Know that he was safe. They knew he was timid and was still getting used to things here.
'Nowhere special. I had things to take care of, it's no business of yours. Now you all need to leave
My hospital room, only two visitors per bed.' He growled.
Kasper and Zak both whimpered. I already knew Zak was afraid of Doc but now that he was
scaring my baby too I was having none of it.
'How dare you speak to me like that!' Father roared. That was definitely one thing that ticked him
Off. Anyone speaking down to him. I'd pushed my luck when I ordered him to get the guys before
I left, but I was his son and he knew I meant well whereas Doc was completely out of line. 'My

Doc grumbled something unintelligent and stormed out of the room, my father and Nathan

Zak was trembling in my arms. Leo noticed too, 'may I hold Kasper Zak?' He asked softly. They
All asked permission first, knowing the situation and not wanting to make Zak anymore
Uncomfortable than he already was. They didn't mind, they wanted him to know that both him and
Our baby were more than safe with them, and this was one way of showing that.
Zak nodded, 'if you want to.' He smiled.
'Come here little one.' Leo grinned as he lifted Kasper into his arms, holding my boy in the air
Above his head, playing aeroplanes with him. Kasper's new favourite game was being an
aeroplane. It just involved holding him in the air and making plane noises. My sons giggles seemed
To brighten the mood of the room.
Zak sat himself on my lap and curled into my chest, holding my shirt in his hand. This had become
A nervous habit of his, but I didn't mind.
'Whats going on?' Micky asked as he walked into the room looking very confused.
'Doc disappeared without saying anything, talked back to alpha and growled at him.' Ricky said in
A monotone voice.
'Whatever,' he said, clearly not caring. 'Hows my pain in the arse patient today.' Micky said
jokingly. He chuckled as he sat down next to the bed.
'Sorry,' Zak mumbled and buried his head in my chest. I felt some tears fall on my bare skin.
I glared at Micky.
'Zak, I'm sorry. I was only playing.' He said softly, resting his hand on Zak's knee. 'You know I
Was only playing right?' He sounded a little unsure.
'I-I k-know.' He sniffed, 'I k-keep causing t-trouble for e-everyone. I-I'm n-not used t-to being
Round s-so many p-people. I-I've never been t-taken care of s-so m-much. I feel l-like I'm
bothering y-you.' He wiped the tears away with the back of his hand.
'Zak, your no bother, really. I would prefer you come see me without an injury sometime though.'
He laughed. 'And you better start getting used it because your family now Zak, and we take care
Of family.' Micky pulled Zak into a brotherly hug and kissed the top of his head, which i growled a
Little at, to Micky's amusement.
'Thank y-you.' My little mate smiled sweetly at his new family and it made my heart melt.
'Right once you eat a proper meal and don't throw it back up you can leave. What do you want?'
Micky said.
'Pancakes!' Zak giggled.
'I said meal, not snack.' We all laughed when Zak pouted. 'How about you have a plate of nuggets
And chips and I'll make you a pancake for dessert?' Micky bargained.
Myself, Leo and Ricky all chuckled as Zak seriously thought about Micky's proposition.
'Can I have chicken strips and chips instead?' He asked.
Micky chuckled and nodded, leaving to go make Zak's food.
'Dada!' Kasper squealed and wriggled trying to get out of Leo's arms.
'Did he just say his first word?' Ricky gasped.
'Mel's taught him apparently.' Zak shrugged and took Kas from Leo.
The rest of the day went by pretty smoothly. Zak was more relaxed and joined in on our
conversations. He ate more or less all of his food, plus the pancake, and was allowed to leave the
Hospital as long as he promised to take better care of himself.
However there was still that uneasy feeling sitting in the pit of my stomach, which threatened to
Spoil the peace.
