I yawned and stretched, but was immediately caught off guard by something.
"Why can't I feel my legs?"
I looked 'down' and was shocked to see my body was not only blue, not only not human, but it was all too familiar as well.
"I'm a..... Latios?! What the.... how the..... holy crap!!!"
In my distress I noticed I was floating without even wanting to.
I screamed scaring off a bunch of wingul.
At that point I'm not ashamed to admit I fainted.
I woke up later to find myself starring at a tree and still not feeling my legs.....
I floated up and flew in a quick circle to find myself right next to an ocean. I froze at the sight of it.
Soo pretty..... I've never seen the ocean before......
I heard a noise behind me. My instincts took over and I went invisible.
I turned to see a trainer with a Mightyana.
He wore a red jacket, cargo pants, and had white hair.
"You find anything girl? I could have sworn I heard someone scream 'Tios' or something....."
The canine pokemon sniffed around before pointing in my general direction.
The guy started walking forward before he bumped into me. I quickly flew up as he fell flat on his butt.
"What was that?!" He said a little freaked out.
Before I could hear more I flew off to the other side of the island. I did my best to hide, but I was too hungry.
My stomach wouldn't stop growling, so I decided to try to search for some food while being invisible.
I eventually found some oran berry bushes and started chowing down on them. I ate out the whole bush and was still hungry, but my stomach stopped rumbling.
I decided to do two things. Find more food and create a super complex scent trail to throw off that mightyana.
After a few hours of wandering in circles and crossing the river that bisected the island.... I was full of berries, covered in dirt and debris, and very tired.....
I managed to find an incredibly thick grove of trees and decided to sleep in the thick of it with my camouflage activated.
When I woke up I was still bummed to find myself a Latios. I was terrified when I smelled smoke all around me.
I flew up out of the bushes and saw the entire island on fire.
A huge part of me felt horrified that this place was on fire. Another was a little confused that I cared about the island.
But one thing was for sure, I was pissed.
I saw red, was shaking, and felt a massive headache as I unconsciously accessed my psychic abilities.
I whipped up a wind storm into a mighty tornado, not only putting out the fire, but ripping away several trees, rocks, and the bastards that started the fire.
They all where flung away into the distance mercilessly.
I breathed deeply before crashing into the ground.
I woke up at around midnight. I was covered in bruises and scrapes, had a splitting headache, and breathing too deeply caused a sharp pain in my chest.
Great..... I'm a transformed human, on a deserted and destroyed island, and I have broken ribs. If I want to live I have to make it to a pokemon center and I have no clue which direction is land...... not to mention I risk being captured the instant I go into a city......
My broken ribs decided to put in their two cents and so I decided to follow my instincts, pick a direction, and start flying as fast as my body could handle in my injured state.
I started flying southwest constantly having to struggle to stay at a constant altitude.
Height:50 meters.
Time Since Departure (TSD): Five minutes.
I'm bleeding into the ocean. I think it's attracting sharpedo
Luckily it's just a tiny drip, so I'll be fine once everything scabs up a bit. Thankfully I don't have to move to fly.
Height: 45 meters
TSD: Twenty minutes.
I think I'm slowly losing altitude. Hopefully I can make it to a center before I fall into the ocean.....
Height: Thirty meters
TSD: One hour.
I'm starting to feel a little tired. I've been flying for a while and still haven't seen any sign of land. I'm not sure if it's good or bad that my chest is going numb.
I think I'm starting to lose altitude faster......
Height: Twenty meters.
TSD: 1 hr 30 min.
I'm definitely falling faster. I'm starting to panic a little bit, but I have to keep it together......
Height: Twenty Five meters.
TSD: Two hours.
A flock of wingul showed up and saw me struggling. They are helping me out by letting me use their slipstream to help keep my altitude.
They said that I was heading the right direction. Now the only factor is I'm starting to get incredibly tired. If I fall asleep now I probably won't wake up.
They say the mainland isn't too far away.....
Height: 15 meters.
TSD: 2 hrs 43 minutes
My vision is blurry. I'm wobbling and can barely stay conscious. Only the constant chirps of encouragement from the wingul are keeping me awake.
I was about to give up hope when I heard the wingul in the lead screech "I see land! Hang in there Lord Latios!!!"
Land?! I can make it!!!
I looked down with my bleary eyes and saw a large building with an orange roof. I slowly floated down to the front door. It automatically opened and I floated in.
I heard a gasp from everyone in the room and saw a hint of pink hair coming towards me before I finally passed out from my injuries.
Nurse Joy's POV
The midnight shift was usually pretty slow around here in Slateport.
However that changed the second the doors opened.
A Latios flew in through the front door. It was in horrifying condition. It's chest was purple and bloody, it was covered in cuts and scrapes. It looked at me with bleary eyes before it collapsed and screamed despite it being unconscious.
I pushed the emergency button and said "Attention everyone! We have a legendary pokemon in critical condition! Prep the ER now!!!"
I ran forward and waited for the team of doctors to come to the front desk with a large cart.
We quickly and carefully loaded Latios onto it and got him into surgery.
Time skip!
It was the most touch and go emergency situation we all had ever faced. He had five broken ribs, had lost a worrying amount of blood, and had a concussion.
He thankfully was one tough legendary pokemon.
By Arceus's good graces he stayed out of Ghiratina's grasp.
He stabilized at about 5:00 a.m. just as the sun started to rise.
I smiled. Sure he was heavily bandaged and had three different IVs in him..... but he would recover fully.
Even in the condition he was in he was a majestic sight to behold. I had never seen a legendary pokemon before. Not to mention he was a beautiful shade of blue and white.
I stayed with him all throughout the day before my shift finally ended.
Latios' POV
Time skip!
I groaned. I felt like someone had mashed my head with a mallet and grinded up my chest with a chainsaw.
What happened..... why can't I feel my legs?!?!
Then everything came rushing back to me.
Oh yeah......
I opened my eyes and hissed as my eyes burned from the sterile white of the room.
I let my eyes adjust and saw I was on my stomach. I couldn't move my neck due to it being in a brace, but I looked around my room to find I was alone.
I heard the steady beat of a heart monitor.
"Ha! Not kicking the bucket today! Now what? I can't really get out of here just yet..... not until I heal a bit more....."
I guess I was talking pretty loudly because Nurse Joy came rushing in and froze when we locked eyes.
She stared at me in pure awe before walking closer to me.
She tentatively reached her hand to my forehead.
I did a slight nod and she smiled before gently stroking my head.
The feeling sent a shiver down my spine.
She smiled and said "You are one lucky living legend my friend."
I sighed and nodded.
I remembered something neat and focused on Nurse Joy.
She seemed confused and I knew it was working.
"Thank you. I just hope I can get released back into the wild when I'm all healed up."
She looked around and was surprised when she focused back on me.
"You talk?!" She gasped.
I chuckled "No, I'm just using telepathy.
I meant what I said though."
She smiled and nodded saying "We always release the wild pokemon we help unless they find a trainer that they want to go with. It would be a capital offense for anyone to try to capture you. Plus it is considered cowardly and wrong to try and take advantage of a critically injured pokemon that can't fight back and catch it. We will make sure you aren't captured."
I smiled and breathed easily.
"If I might ask though..... how did you get in such horrible condition?"
I frowned and sighed before I started "A bunch of pokemon hunters discovered my island and tried burning me out. I was disgusted and freaked out. I ended up using too much power and crashed into the hard rocky ground at terminal velocity. It's only thanks to a flock of wingul that I had enough energy to make it here....."
She frowned "That's awful!"
I smiled and said "It's ok..... I guess I'll just wander Hoen for a while..... once I've recovered of coarse...."
She smiled and nodded before asking "Are you hungry?"
I nodded and she left for several minutes.
When she came back she had a large bowl filed with oran berries.
I smiled because I learned they tasted delicious on the island, so I dug right in.
While I ate she explained "If you eat oran berries for all your meals you'll be sure to speed up your recovery. I don't think you have a problem with that?"
I shook my head no as I licked my face of oran berry juice.
She giggled.
We started doing small talk and before we knew it her shift was over.
After she left I decided to take a nap.
A few days later she took my neck brace off. She even let me fly around a bit.
But then she came in one day very frustrated.
"What's wrong Nurse?"
She sighed and said "We are trying our best to keep you a secret, but the media managed to catch wind of you. They've been bugging us non stop to see you."
I sighed and said "I see.... if they must really see me I guess they can. But only a few at a time....."
She smiled and nodded.
She left for a bit to show up with a camera guy, a reporter, and a sound guy.
They took a few minutes to stare at me before they set up.
I just stared at them when they finally got ready.
"Hello and good evening. This is Tracie Sparks reporting live from Slateport City's Pokemon center. As you can see we have the pleasure of seeing a Latios! According to the Nurse Joy we spoke to, this tough little survivor managed to fly countless miles from its destroyed home with countless scrapes, cuts, and several broken ribs!"
I tilted my head and told her "I am a guy. Not an it."
She said "Ugh Michael! Now we have to do another take!"
The sound guy said "That wasn't me....."
I sent a message to them all and said "That was me. You know.... the pokemon behind you."
They all turned to me and she asked "You j-just talked?!"
I smiled and said "It's more like telepathy. My power probably doesn't pick up on your camera."
They all stared at me for several seconds before leaving.
That was weird......
I heard what sounded like a stampede coming towards me. Suddenly the room was filled with reporters, cameramen, and microphones.
I felt like I was suffocating and started panicking.
"Leave me alone!!!" I yelled before using psychic to grab all of their equipment and smash it into a huge ball of broken bits and pieces.
"Leave!!!"
All of the camera crews ran out screaming and stampeded back to where they came from.
I sighed and layed down. I set the ball of scrap to the corner.
Nurse Joy came in and asked "You okay? What happened?!"
I smiled and said "Sorry.... I kind of freaked out and broke their stuff...."
I pointed to the corner.
She stared at the pile of scrap before sighing. She turned to me and said "At least you didn't hurt them....."
She left and I was left alone.
For the next couple weeks I practiced a different trick while I got better.
Then before I knew it I was healed enough to be released.
My ribs were set and although still a little sore, that would fix itself with time.
Nurse Joy came into my room and said "It's time! Please, follow me."
I started floating after her. The halls filled with every member of the medical staff. All of them clapped and cheered as we went by.
We finally made it to the front door and it opened. I looked back and winked at Nurse Joy before flying off at top speed, through the door and straight up.
I went invisible and flew back down to the ground silently. When no one was looking I changed my form to that of how I looked when I was human.
I had short, brown hair; a pale complexion; I was slightly taller than average; broad shoulders; wore a black t-shirt; jeans; and some unmarked sneakers.
I learned I couldn't change my eye color from the piercing red eyes my Latios form has. Plus I didn't need glasses anymore.
I mimicked the crowd looking into the sky to try and find me.
Someone said "That was fun, but where did it go?"
"I don't know.... let's go..."
Everyone in the crowd started murmuring to themselves as everyone dispersed.
I walked off to a random direction and explored the town of Slateport.
Unfortunately I had no money or way to earn money so a lot was impossible for me to do. I couldn't go get something to eat, I couldn't buy anything at the department store, and I couldn't get a ticket to go watch a contest.
So I decided to find a place to change and fly off.
I searched for hours and found some berries to eat for dinner before falling asleep under a random tree.
I heard a branch snap and my eyes shot open. Standing five feet away was a little girl. She looked to be about five. She had blue hair, green eyes, wore a skirt and a tank top that matched her hair.
We both stared into each other's eyes. All I saw was pure wonder and amazement sparkling in her eyes.
I said "Hello little one."
Her eyes bulged before she gasped "You can talk in my head?!"
Wait she could tell? No one else could.... the first time at least.....
I nodded and said "Yes. A big word for it is Telepathy."
"Tewepatty?" she asked cutely.
I smiled and nodded.
She smiled and asked "What are you doing here birdey?"
I smiled and said "I don't really have a home and I was flying through."
She seemed conflicted with what I said.
"What's wrong?"
She spoke up "It's bad you don't have a home...... but it's really cool you can fly!"
I chuckled and said "Don't worry, I'll find one soon. You want to fly with me?"
The look of pure joy and excitement on her face melted my heart instantly.
I smiled and motioned for her to climb on my back. She ran over and almost stumbled. Thankfully I caught her with my head.
She said a quick "Thank you!" before climbing up to my back.
I told her "Hold on nice and tight ok?"
She nodded and layed down while managing to get her arms around my neck.
I flew up nice and slow before going in a massive circle at a decent speed.
She was screaming "Faster!"
I went faster.
She yelled "Faster!!!"
I obliged and felt she was gripping as hard as she could.
I slowed down a little.
She noticed it and asked "Why did you slow down Birdey?"
I told her "I wanted to let you enjoy the view."
"The view?"
I nodded and ascended past the tops of the clouds.
I felt her arms loosen and she sat up.
"Wow!!! The clouds are so pretty from up here! Can we go touch a cloud?"
"I don't see why not...."
I flew alongside a large, fluffy cloud. She reached out to touch it and left a huge gash in the cloud.
She pulled her hand out and said "Clouds are wet......"
I couldn't help but start laughing and she joined in.
After we both calmed down I asked "So little one, what is your name?"
"My name is Emily! What's yours?"
"I am Latios."
She said "Latiios?"
I smiled and said "Call me Lati for now okay?"
"Lati! I like it!" She cheered as I flew back to where we started.
She jumped off and said "Bye bye for now Lati! I'll see you tommorow!"
"See you tommorow!"
I smiled as she trotted away back the way she came.
I was hungry so I went berry hunting.
