I don't know how long I've been in here but it has to have been over an hour or two. Nate never came back to my surprise and I begin to wonder where he's gone off to if he's supposed to be with me in the Factionless. My fingers wrap around the broken flashlight that I've been working on for however long I've been in here.

Feeling around the flashlight I try to put the last piece in and twist the cap on, saying a silent prayer to God that it works I press the button. Nothing but darkness.
"Are you kidding me?" I hiss and shake the flashlight when suddenly a beam of white light blinds me and I screech and fall to the ground covering my eyes.

Opening my eyes all I see are white spots everywhere, once my eyes chill out a bit they move towards the flashlight that streams light throughout the entire room. Crawling over to it I shine it throughout the entire room to make sure it is in fact completely empty. I shine the light on the ceiling to see streams of water flowing down the side of the cold stone wall, well that'd explain the horrible moldy smell.

Racing towards the door I bang on it as hard as I can, screaming and shouting I wiggle the handle but the only sound I get is the hum of rushing water close by. Crouching down I place the flashlight in my mouth as I stare at the lock. Reaching up for it I get a good glance at my bloody wrists that I managed to wiggle out of the rope a while back and I didn't think they were that bad but a crimson coat covers from my wrists to mid-forearm.

Purple and brown bruises were scattered along my wrists while dark red dried up blood coated them like a second set of skin. Digging around my hair for a bobby pin, or my pockets for any object that I could maybe use to get out of this I let out an agitated sigh as I realize I have nothing.

Starring down at my hands helplessly I I trace one of my finger nails. Maybe, just maybe they're long enough to unlock the door, I guess they're my only hope. Shoving the flashlight back into my mouth I get to work, jabbing my nail in I begin to wiggle it.

After what seems like ages of twisting and turning, switching nails and bloodied fingers, I finally try my thumb nail one more time. I look down at my injured hands and wonder how I got myself into this mess. Sucking on my thumb to relieve some of it's pain I slide it into the lock and twist it with all my might, this has to work, I have to get out of here I'm not going to die here just because my ex turned into a psychopath.

Hearing a click I feel hope surge through me, that is until I realize it wasn't a click but a snap. Yanking my thumbnail out of the lock I let out a bloodcurling scream as blood streams down my right hand warming my entire arm with my own blood. I grit my teeth and clentch my jaw in pain, not only did the lock rip off my nail but when I yanked it out it ripped up the entire tender part of my thumb open leaving the vein that rested there to flow freely out of my thumb.

I flash the light on my bloodsoaked arm and winced as I saw my nailless thumb and the steady crimson blood that seems to squirt from my right thumb. The light dimmed and I froze, is my eye sight giving out? That's when I saw the flashlight get dimmer, picking it up with my left hand I shake it a little causing it to go full brightness again, the light is short lived because as soon as it shines on my hand once more darkness consumes everything around me.

I shake the flashlight once more, it has to work, this has to work, it can't die on me!
"DAMNIT!" I scream as I realize the flashlight won't work anymore. Gripping it tightly in my hand I fling it across the room sending all of my hardwork shattering to the ground.

I fall to my knees on the cold stone floor feeling a sob wrack my body as I cover my tearstained face with my bloody hands. A feeling of complete and utter defeat comes over my body and I lay on the ground with more and more tears streaming down my face. This is it, I'm having a full blown meltdown.

I lay there for God knows how long before the door swings open and I'm jerked back into reality. Sitting straight up I glower into the darkness knowing that he's in the middle of it somewhere.
"I got you breakfast!" he says in a sing song voice that makes me want to hurl. Breakfast? that means I've been here all night and they just discovered our 'love note'.

"Of course you're going to have to eat it with your hands and knowing you if you had a utensil you'd try to escape," he laughs at the end, as if me escaping was a joke to him.
"So have you changed your mind?" his voice is no longer filled with humor but more of desperation.
"Go to hell," my voice screeches raspy from crying, screaming, and shouting.
"Fine, you might change your mind tomorrow," with that he slips out and slams the door in anger.

Crawling around and feeling for the food, I find a plate with what I think a muffin and toast are on. I quickly realized I was to much at a loss to have an appetite and I didn't even want to imagine what kind of things he could've put in the food. 'You might change your mind tomorrow.' His words echo in my head as the thought settles in I'm going to be here until I finally agree, I'll be trapped in this prison of darkness and pain until I finally break.

Pushing myself back on my feet I feel a spark of hope in my chest as one last plan forms in my head. I find the scattered pieces of the flashlight and run my hand along the wall until I find the door nob once again. Opening up the flashlight I let all of it's contents fall to the ground as I try to find something sharp to unlock the door with.

Jabbing a sharp bit of plastic into the nob I begin to twist it and wiggle it, each time testing the plastic's strength. Once that seized to work I went onto the next object I could find. Scrap after scrap, I tried to unlock that damn door but none of it seemed to work. The scabs on my hands had opened up and my thumb was once more bleeding profusely.

Click. What? Did I just imagine that or did that actually happen? The sound of the door creaking fills the empty room and a steady stream of light files into the dark room and for a second all I can do is stare. The brightness of outside the room blinds me for a second but once my visions clears up I stare at the crashing waters nearly five feet from me.

I did it. Crawling up into the slippery contrete floor I look around for any exits. My eyes settle on a door opposite of the chasm and I sprint in it's direction. Once I realize the door is open I thank God and sprint up the stairs feeling adrenaline pump through me like the blood in my viens. I just need to find Eric, if I find Eric then I'll be safe. I don't know where this new found reliance for Eric came from but as much as I hate to say it I know he'll protect me from the psychopath.

Stumbling up into a dark hallway I look left and right to see I'm completely lost. Well played Nate, putting me in an area that's completely foreign to me. Praying that my luck doesn't end here I take a random guess and go left, sprinting with all my might through the strange halls. Coming upon another hallway I notice that doors line the entire hall and that these must be apartments.

That's when I notice that I've been dragged through these halls before. Dragged by Eric. His apartment is in this hall, and I know exactly where. Taking off once more down the hall I skid to a stop as I stare at his door in disbelief. Room 765. Did I really make it out of there? Pounding my fist on his door frantically I call, "Eric!" I scream, "ERIC!" No answer. He's gone. Of course he's gone, he's probably at breakfast or training the new transfers. There's no reason he should be concerned about me.

Movement out of the corner of my eye makes me glance left to see a dark figure, his hoodie is drapped over his head making him unidentifiable. That is, until he looks up and I lock eyes with him. His eyes hold a new kind of craze, something you have nightmares about, the same kind of craze I saw when I would look into the dead eyes of a murderous bear. They were hungry eyes.

I feel my body freeze as in a split second he charged. A scream escaped my mouth and I knew I would get the attention of every soul in this hall and I prayed that not all of them were at work. Turning on my heal I bolted in the opposite direction of him but he was already at his top speed when I had just turned around. I felt his body collide with mine and send us both tumbling to the floor.

His hands immediately find my throat and I'm left clawing at his hands which cage my throat. A new feeling was settling over me, no longer the feeling of panic but the feeling of bliss and an overwhelming feeling of calmness surpassed me as I lay there halfway to unconsiousness. It wasn't until Nate was harshly pulled off of my throat that I snapped back into reality and saw a large built man with almost black skin beating the crap out of him.

Coughing and gasping for air I looked up at the man who dropped an unconscious Nate.
"Mercer right?" the guy turned around and extended a hand to me, a warm smile on his face like he didn't just beat the crap out of a random guy.
"I heard you yelling Eric's name, so I called him..." he starts pointing down to Eric's apartment.
"Mercer?" the sound of his voice sent a pleasureable chill down my spine and I turn around to see his his tattooed neck and pierced face on the opposite side of the hall.

Without even thinking about my actions I charged for him, throwing my arms around his torso and burying my head deep in his chest. To my surprise he wrapped his arms tightly around my lower back, lifting me up so my head rests in the crook of his neck. We stay like that for a while, just with each other and I begin to wonder when I began to grow so attached to this dangerous man.

His arms snake around my waist and hold me even tighter causing me to bury my head deeper into the nape of his neck. Pulling back slightly we lock eyes, our faces only an inch away. Soon our breathes become mixed and it's less than an inch, the space between us becomes electric and each moment we move closer the space becomes more and more charged. The closer we get the more we compact the electricity together, I could only imagine the type of energy it would be like if there was no more space between our lips.

Soon I no longer have to imagine it as electricity courses through his lips onto mine. Attacking his lips with a new found hunger, I savor the taste of him as he kisses back just as desperate and that's when I realize this whole time I'd been craving him. From the first moment I saw him, standing alone with no other Dauntless, authority radiating off of him, I felt the need to defy him. And now, that defiance has gotten me here, lip locked with the most dangerous man I've ever met.

Pulling back I look into his eyes, he looks just as bewildered as I feel. I feel my heart ache for another kiss, that was nothing like anything I'd ever done with Nate. With Nate it was forced, I always thought the only way I could show him my love was to kiss him, but Eric, Eric was pure need. Breathing heavily Eric's eyes travel over my shoulder as he places me gently back on the ground. My knees buckle beneath me and I grab onto his biceps to keep me from collapsing onto the floor.

"Well," I hear the man's voice say from behind me and my head whips around to see he's standing there awkwardly, an unconscious Nate slung over his shoulder casually, "I guess I'll just leave you guys to it."
"Zeke," Eric says and the man turns around, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"Yeah?" Eric glances down at me then back to Zeke, "Thanks, I owe you." Zeke smirks and nods, "Na I love pummeling guys who attack people, it's quiet the hobby," with that he turns around and walks down the halls with ease while my ex's arms dangle from his shoulder.

"Mercer?" Eric's voice seems soft but I can still hear the authority in his voice that seems to never go away, glancing up at him his hands trace my chin gently, "Are you ok?" I let out a small breathe, "Yeah, yeah I guess I am," I say realizing what I'd just done. I had escaped him.
"What the hell happened to your wrists!?" Eric's voice booms making me take a step back.

Eric's gripping my elbows glowering down at my bruised and bloodied wrists which look 10x worse in good lighting. My nail is still missing and I wince at the coating of blood that leaves no skin visible on my entire right hand.
"I did what I had to, to get out," I sigh moving my sore hand and wincing as some of the scabs broke.

"Come here," he says while placing a hand firmly to my back and leading me back to his room. Taking out a key he unlocks Room 765 and leads me into his apartment.

Surprise! The girl saves herself and escapes on her own with no help because she's an independent woman who don't need no man!!
